It looks like George Soros and his various organizations (aka Media Matters) have decided to declare all out war against Glenn Beck and FOX News. Glenn laid out some the strategies for this “war” on radio this morning and he and the crew wondered exactly how they’re maintaining a tax-exempt status with the latest news.
Politico wrote over the weekend:
“The strategy that we had had toward Fox was basically a strategy of containment,” said Brock, Media Matters’ chairman and founder and a former conservative journalist, adding that the group’s main aim had been to challenge the factual claims of the channel and to attempt to prevent them from reaching the mainstream media. The new strategy, he said, is a “war on Fox.”
The article continued:
Media Matters, Brock said, is assembling opposition research files not only on Fox’s top executives but on a series of midlevel officials. It has hired an activist who has led a successful campaign to press advertisers to avoid Glenn Beck’s show. The group is assembling a legal team to help people who have clashed with Fox to file lawsuits for defamation, invasion of privacy or other causes. And it has hired two experienced reporters, Joe Strupp and Alexander Zaitchik, to dig into Fox’s operation to help assemble a book on the network, due out in 2012 from Vintage/Anchor.
“These people are actually talking about guerilla warfare and actually talking about sabotage,” Glenn said. “They have a $10 million plus annual budget.”
Stu asked, “Can I make one more point about this George Soros organization, Media Matters? I’d love to hear from an attorney on this that understands these matters because I’m an idiot and I don’t get it, but how on Earth are they a tax exempt 501(c)(3) organization after the statement? They are admitting that their goal in life is to sabotage what they consider and they say is the political opposition.”
“The definition of a 501(c)(3) is you cannot be an action organization,” he said. You can read more about how Media Matters might be breaking the law here.
In addition to Media Matters, the Soros-funded Jewish Funds for Justice is hiring an intern to help out around the office, file some papers, maintain calendars, and, of course, monitor Glenn Beck’s presence on radio and TV.
“I want you to listen to this, and I would like everybody in Mercury to listen to this as well: If anybody is not living a clean life, you better start living a clean life because these guys and this is everybody at Fox and anybody who stands with the Tea Party. These guys are going to exploit. And so if they can get in, this is politicians have known this for a long time. They’re just now doing it to the average person,” Glenn said.
“If they can’t get the number one guy, they are not going to go for the number two guy, number three, number four, number five, somebody inside the organization and blackmail them: Get us information, tell us what’s going on, or we’ll destroy you. And they will,” Glenn said.
“Remember I told you, when was it, how many months ago, three, four months ago that somebody was doing a major investigation. One of the names that they said could afford something like this was George Soros.”
“It was a major investigation, in my life. Bring it on. Nothing to fear,” he declared.
