Glenn opened the show with news of a terrorist attack on the border of Israel and Egypt.

The Blaze reports:

The violence near the resort city of Eilat stoked concerns about growing lawlessness in the neighboring Egyptian Sinai Peninsula following the ouster in February of that country’s longtime autocratic leader, Hosni Mubarak.

“The incident underscores the weak Egyptian hold on Sinai and the broadening of the activities of terrorists,” Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said in a statement. “The real source of the terror is in Gaza and we will act against them with full force and determination.”

Bedouins in Sinai cooperate with anti-Israel militants in Gaza, just across the border.

The driver of the bus said he had seen Egyptian soldiers open fire, but military spokesman Brig.-Gen. Yoav Mordechai said he was not aware of any Egyptian military involvement.

Israeli security forces tracked down some of the assailants and are engaged in an ongoing gunbattle with them, Mordechai said. The attackers fired mortars and an anti-tank missile, he said. The military spokesman’s office said a roadside bomb was detonated when a military patrol arrived at the scene of the bus attack and drove over the device.

Mordechai said the nature of the attack indicated that it had been well planned.

“It is quite strange to be here in Israel when you hear about this attack or an attack like this and then to hear that in Gaza, which we were at, what, three weeks ago? Four weeks ago we were just on the border of Gaza and now all of the Hamas leaders are evacuating their headquarters in Gaza because they know there’s going to be retaliation. Israel should just be a little faster at the retaliation. Don’t you think? I mean, why give them time to get out of their headquarters,” Glenn said.

“ They don’t want to kill anybody. Because they’re good guys,” Glenn added of the Israelis. “And the world condemns and condemns and condemns. So, things are a little tense here.”

Glenn said he felt like the attitude of the Israelis in response to the attack was one of “rolling with the punches”, showing how violence against their country is not something out of the norm like it would be in America.

Glenn said that it looks like Israel will respond to the attack, but pointed out that the situation will be especially tense as Muslims are currently observing Ramadan.
