In many aspects its nicer and less hostile than Big Brother San Francisco. Sometimes I have to pick up my mom who works as a nurse downtown Oakland. It gets pretty rough. But lately she doesn’t want to go to work because of the protests. There are far too many criminals using the protests to do bad things. Oakland is a dangerous city and sadly many of these thugs show up to “protest.” Not all of the protesters are thugs. Most clearly aren’t. But there is a significant minority who is there to cause problems.

Drugs, Alchohol, rapes, beatings, gangs. Should we be surprised. Drug deal go bad.  The reporter said people came running really??? I saw one woman, probably the friend of the dead guy. The rest looked like they couldn’t  careless.

Time to end the hippie stand off, there is no money coming your way, No flea powder, No free homes, No free mastercards, No free crack pipes, No free anything. And soon your budy in the white house, you know him the guy that when he smiles his head disappears. He also will be out of a job.

We need to know more facts. The Burlington one, if indeed self-inflicted, would just be a sad event and not a result of OWS. As for Oakland… Oakland’s a heckhole with all sorts of crime anyway. This shooting could be something not related to the OWS protests at all so I think we need to wait for more information before criticizing. I remember it, and it wasn’t all pretty, and the love wasn’t “free”. Almost everyone I knew had lost a loved one either to Viet Nam, or to a drug overdose. I thought it was a good series, still not entirely able to recreate the experience, and they did warn about the graphic violence – which they actually kept to a minimum. After this much time I don’t have a problem with seeing this sort of thing, but there are photos of people I knew that didn’t finish their tour that I have locked in a safe deposit so I don’t accidentally come across them doing the spring cleaning. Agreed, dad.  My tolerance (if, indeed, I even had one!) for the occupiers left as soon as ”the peace-

ful protest” began to get violent.  I realize, of course and so should those groups, that there would be

some people coming who had their own agendas.    The Oakland mayor was/is an activist and a

former community organizer (!) who, at first, approved the occupiers saying she stood with them,

before she asked for the initial departure of them.  After the police cleared out the tents etc. and the

people defied them and later returned—tents and all, she didn’t say anything and let them remain.

She will have a harder time (maybe) in getting them out again since she had already flip-flopped 

and didn’t show much strength in backing up her initial request for their leaving.   If it wouldn’t be

condemned, I’d be tempted to turn the fire hoses on them, but I can hear the howls of outrage now

coming from the liberals and all those other ”true believers.”   Would turning the dogs loose be OK?

she stood by them.  After seeing some of the actions surrounding the occupiers, she demanded that

they leave.   The police cleared them out, they defied them and returned later with their tents and the

rest of their gear.  The mayor didn’t say or do anything about it, even though many of the business

people, who were getting hurt by this group, protested their presence.   It wasn’t until after the fatal

shooting that the mayor, once again, demanded their removal, having the police issue the members

of O.O. with eviction notices.   We’ll have to see how effective any of her measures are.  It’s for sure

that the voters want her replaced.

The bills Obama has passed has caused economic problems in this country to be worse. The Healthcare bill was supposed to save jobs and bring the cost of healthcare down. Instead, it is the opposite. With all of these states opting out and corporations, there will be many uninsured which will end up to be exactly what we have now. Many will be in the ER getting care which you and I will pay for because they are uninsured. The unions will help him because they know he will keep their collective bargaining rights and they will keep getting enomorous tax dollars (that we can not afford). The unions are going to be his army against conervatives who may jepodize them getting the tax dollars. (Like Scott Walker did).I am sure they will make it mandatory to vote next year and it won’t be a private ballot. They will force their workers to vote for him or else. These union workers do not want to loose their pensions or benefits. When the protesters yelled out to the police, “The whole world is watching. What about your pensions?” They were telling them you should be on our side because you will loose your pensions.

their shoulders these days, as the feeling is it’s not if police will forcibly remove them, it’s when.  For

the 2nd time in 24 hours, police distributed eviction notices to protesters at —(the) Plaza and Snow

Park on Sat. morning.  (Snow Park is near Lake Merritt and has about 20 tents.)      Couple of points

of interest from this article: homeless services outreach have given vouchers to a total of 21 men

recently who have left the ”campers.”  However, an (activist) commented   ”The city has come

through with homeless outreach on the occasions when our camp is under immediate threat of

forcible removal.  They have offered single nights at shelters which is an obvious public relations

move to sweep the homeless out of the camp so that they do not end up hurting or gassing them

which would look bad in the press.”        Of course, ”hurting or gassing” other occupiers would not

look bad in the press?      An Oakland man has offered to help relocate the campers from the Plaza

to Snow Park.  That will get rid of the ones downtown, but how will any residents or businesses in

the new area feel about that and is it legal to camp overnight in a public park?   The people want to

The city center in Oakland is a safe place (according to the OWSer interviewed)???  There is no safe place in the Repulik of Kalifornia as long as law abiding citizens are denied their second amendment rights.  A far safer place would be in a Tea Party gathering, with the knowledge that someone in that group would have the means to protect themselves and others from a gun toting thug.  In fact, had this been a Tea Party gathering, I suspect the perp would have been taken down at the scene of the crime. There certainly would not have been the indifference displayed by the OWSers.
