Rick Santorum discusses daughter’s health, Florida primary

Get Glenn Live! On TheBlaze TV

Rick Santorum had to leave the campaign trail over the weekend in order to attend to deal with a family emergency as his daughter was admitted to the hospital. She has now been released, and Santorum called into the radio show this morning to discuss the incident as well as tomorrow’s Florida primary.

Santorum explained that his daughter “rallied and she’s on the mend, and we’re feeling very, very blessed. I want to thank everybody for their prayers.”

“A simple cold can kill her and it almost did this weekend, and she ended up with pneumonia as a result of a cold and a whole laundry list of things went on,” he added.

Santorum’s daughter has Trisomy 18, a genetic disorder, which impairs a child’s development and has led to an early death.

“She was able to get great care yesterday and really made a great turnaround and she’ll be out of the ICU today. We’re sort of getting back to normal here.”

Santorum also discussed the letter that was circulating among the Catholic community this weekend, saying that it was “about time” that people stood up against government encroachment on religion.

“When we look to the government to give us rights, then we’re in trouble. Rights do not come from the government. They come from God and when we start looking to government to give us rights, then they own us and this is exactly the case in point right here. They now have you and they’re going to impose their view of morality on you. Since now they are the ones who gave you this. They are the ones that can dictate how this right act is exercised,” Santorum said.

Mr Santorum I am glad that God has graced her with a healing to bring hope and faith again to your family; you are right on the money that the rights we have are God given and not Man given. God-given blessings and rights are eternal in concept and establishment; it is only by our own lack of care, lack of dilligence, and arrogance that we have neglected our duties to be stewards of those freedoms.

Under man-given rights what is given once can be taken away as the masses dictate’ or those who rise into authority command.

Under God true freedom is found in love, respect and law and order; under Mans rules chaos and destruction follow hand in hand to the grave.

I wonder if Obamacare would have handled this child’s condition.  The Death Panel would probably said to give her a pain pill and send her home.

  • Anonymous

Um, Santorum has the senate healthcare system. That doesn’t change under Obamacare. The real question is what would be done if he had private insurance with a company that was running a for-profit enterprise. We know what Romney does to things that don’t make money after all…

i bet she’s the cutest little girl in the world. God bless Bella.

Mr. Santorum, I am extremely happy to hear of your daughter’s recovery…But shouldn’t you  have taken the time to go see her? Don’t you think you wife would have appreciated the gesture, the electorate would have understood…I do not! Even if it mattered to your election bid, nothing is more important than family, you could have taken a day of two to see your very ill child. My respect for you has dropped considerably, just thank God she is okay…for now!

Future President Santorum, as I pray will be the case; you are so inspiring and I am filled with the hope that God is performing miracles, like saving your baby girl, and giving you a love of Our Lord that has power over all the evil that surrounds US!  You have a beautifully real family, when so many seem not to be, and I pray the people of this great country are able to recognize that you, and God of course, are what we need to survive and then thrive!

God bless Rick Santorum and his family. Especially his little girl.

He did see her. Why would you make a comment like that without knowing the facts?

I am not a Rick Santorum fan politically, but I am glad his daughter is doing well.

Another person opening their pie hole that doesn’t have the first clue what they are talking about.

It’s great to see a public figure put family FIRST in such a dramatic way.  I do believe Santorum is the “real deal” as far as who he is as a man.  Lelt’s keep looking for good stuff politically.

Prayers going up for the Santorum Family. God speed. In Jesus Name. I support you.

I believe Glen is right-Rick Santorum is a good man. I like what he has to say. I like what he stands for: God first, family, and country. I must say, as a true Christian conservative, I am very disappointed with several of our “top” conservatives.I am completely  disgusted by their endorsementts. Stop letting the media tell us who to vote for-how about praying and showing a little character by voting for the RIGHT candidate! I don”t want to hear “he’s not electable, or he can’t beat Obama”. We heard those lies last election and look at the “conservative” we had toIvote for(excluding Sarah Palin). Show some faith in God and do the right thing-vote forRickSantorum! It’s never right to do the wrong thing.I’m ashamed of fox news too. They treat this like there’s just 2 guys-there are 4!How about showing Rick (and even Ron-who i disagree with) some respect. Quit deciding for us. I want my donations and my vote to actually count!Karen Martin, Knoxville, Tn

I am so glad that little Bella is improving.  We will pray for her full recovery.  I don’t understand why supposed conservatives are not sticking to the most conservative candidate which is Rick Santorum.  We can depend on Santorum sticking to his convictions; he doesn’t waiver as the others have.  I will be voting for Rick Santorum in the primary.  Otherwise, I will vote for any “conservative” that runs against Obama.

    May God bless your daughter.

God have his loving healing arms around Bella with comfort and grace for a wonderful and
long life.  In prayers to know of Him.

I support Santorum. We have no excuse not to elect this man. :/  Get to work, people.

God Bless the Santorum family and their sweet child.  I pray that Santorum will continue on the campaign trail inspite of the numbers.  May he get people to think of rededicating themselves to family, home, patriotism, and most of God.

I so like this guy for so many reasons.  We pray for the continued health of his daughter and for his campaign as our next president.  We really need someone that still believes in our Consitution and our rights as a country.  With Obama, it looks like we might be heading towards a dictatorship, especially after his State of the Union when he stated ‘that Congress should give the Executive Branch (meaning him) more power to get things done.’  That is exactly what we don’t need and with this healthcare mandate looming over our heads, that is the step in that direction.

I voted for Rick yesturday in Florida and just sick that he recieved so little votes. I just don’t understand it.  Once again we have done it wrong.

I am praying for his daughter, He is a very nice man with good values. I am not sure he can beat Obama but I pray for him and his family. Love to his daughter and family.

I believe he was in Philly with his wife and family, NOT on the campaign trail. Sometimes things are missed when listening to the program…For Rick, family would come first.
