Why is the federal government targeting faith communities?

Glenn has been giving a lot of coverage on radio and GBTV of the attacks that the faith community is suffering from the federal government. Most recently, businesses in the Catholic community are being forced by the Obama administration to cover birth control in their insurance plans, something that is in stark conflict with Catholic doctrine. Some leaders in the Catholic community are going as far as declaring it a war on religion. But why is Obama targeting Catholics when he relies on voting blocks, like the Hispanics, which are predominantly Catholic? It’s just the latest in a series of moves that seems anti-faith – for example, his administration has proven to be no friend to Israel and the Jewish community with their stance on the Israel/Palestinian border. So why alienate people of faith? Glenn analyzes the news in the clip above.

Glenn also interviewed Bill Donohue of the Catholic League on these issues. Watch that interview below:

Our religious freedom is under attack. People who think this is all just politics as usual are clueless. If Chairman Obama is reelected he will get to appoint 1 possibly 2 Supremes. This will give the Left the power to do anything they want even if the GOP takes over the House and Senate.

Exactly, consider the recent Justice who declared the need for an Independant Judiciary; that may be the ultimate goal of Obamas, so that way he can force any agenda he wants down everyones throats either directly or via the courts stacked with his agents.

This is the time. You must make a choice to stand up or watch your children live on their knees. Read YOUR CONSTITUTION. Understand why and how it was written. I call on everyone who ever served in the military to remember their oath. That oath was for life. Your country needs you. Wake up and take back your nation!

Oh, please, please, let Beck go with his “chaos on the streets” theory. His analysis of what ALL Catholics of different types would feel, think and do in face of the WH’s actions is the workings of a feeble ethnically monadic mind.

You’re still Catholic Glenn. You may reconcile at any time.

The battles have been raging since The Beginning. The battles did not stop with the resurrection of Jesus but the War was won. Death is defeated. Do we accept the victory?

We were Lied to and we knew it then. Some people choose to embrace the Lies. Free will choice.

Yes there is a war against religion going on! They are being very rich in their spin that this is a political issue. Bobble heads state that 27 percent of the 46 percent of the Catholic faith use birth control. Really? If these particular people don’t wish to follow the doctrine of the church, then why claim to be a Catholic? Are the administration will spin it as, “a woman’s healthcare issue.” Really? Please look back to what Margaret Singer’s objective was when she posed birth control be offered. Read the Jaffe memo, and the statement in 1969 from SCJ, Ruth Ginsburg, that children be at the age of consent at 13, or maybe it was 12. One can look it up to check the accuracy. How many babies in total have lost their life since abortion was supposedly legalized? 1,712,000. That’s a staggering number! When society silences faith, secular idea’s creep into government, people’s lives, and the church. When we can devalue the life of an unborn child, we are diminishing ALL life.

It starts with the unborn, and then moves to the elderly, unfirm, and the disabled, and diseased.
One would pose the question to Planned Parenthood and all those who stand behind it the following questions:

The organization tells young women that it’s just a blob of tissue in the fish state. If one looked at an embro of a frog it would look similiar to a human fetus. But’s the human fetus IS different. We should be asking PP, if they don’t know WHAT it is, then they should find out! Also, if you don’t know if it’s alive should they be killing it? I would suggest that they wait a few months and see what it turns into! They may help clear the issue of whether it’s a blob of tissue, with no life value, or if it turns into something, like say, a baby!

Also, Peter Sanger, who is now a US citizen argues for infanicide. He argues against keeping children alive who have survived an attempted abortion. When our current president was in the senate he voted in opposition 4 times to a bill that would have protected children who survived abortion.

Those in favor of abortion tell us that it is a private issue, or a health issue. It is a moral, and legal issue! Those of faith are having immortality imposed upon them. It’s not a choice, it’s a life. It’s not a blob of tissue, it’s a baby. We are also ask to consider babies conceived by rape, or incest. Should the baby be given the death penalty because of the sin’s of the father?

Has the church failed in teaching the value of human life? Have those attend services, leave their religious beliefs behind them when the door closes as they leave? The church should be teaching a strong doctrine of disciple in faith, and reading scripture, chapter by chapter, and verse by verse. The church should stop raising pew potatoes! Stop giving flowery little stories that will help no one when it comes time to deal with the difficult issues we face in life each day. The sheep will scatter, and not gather in the sheepcot if they do not recognize the shepherd’s voice! When those of faith appear on television, let your faith show strong. No wish washy answers. Let your nays be nay, and your yeahs, be yeahs. Edify and build each in faith and values, and the world of G-d.

Before I even begin to point out bigot beck’s lies, the President is not an enemy of Israel.  He has supported them with every move they have made.  glenn beck, of course, has denied this because he is still kissing arse after proving to be an Anti-Semite.
Also, the President is not attacking religion.  Birth control subsidies are a choice.  The federal government is not forcing anyone to purchase or use birth control.
To finish, why does glenn beck insist upon lying about the President or the federal government attacking certain religions, but supports the bigoted movements and groups that attack Islamic Americans?  Oh yeah..I forgot…glenn is a bigot!!!

Really, Obama has supported every move that Israel has made?

How about this headline: If Obama opposes Israeli settlement activity, why did US veto UN vote?
    http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Foreign-Policy/2011/0218/If-Obama-opposes-Israeli-settlement-activity-why-did-US-veto-UN-vote

    Keep up the lies strtlk.

Obama is more of a friend of Israel than Bush was or many presidents prior.  Obama talks a tougher talk b/c of some combination of he likely believes it and he has to b/c of the changing worldwide sentiment on Israel’s quasi-apartheid state of the palestinians which, no matter what anyone personally feels, is internationally seen as a major problem and human rights violation.
Bush threatened to cut off funding to Israel if they didn’t quit it with the settlements and other demands we needed them to cooperate on.
Obama hasn’t even come close to doing anything like that and frankly Obama should oppose settlement activity, if nothing else that is clearly a bad idea.

  • Anonymous

    Okay, if you say so.

Where did Bush tell Israel that they had to return to the 1967 borders again, I seemed to miss that? Since it never happened.

  • Anonymous

Talking the talk of the rest of the international community and actually offering any kind of action to even give Israel an incentive to act are very different things.  If words were all that mattered Obama would be a fairly anti-Israeli president, probably behind Eisenhower for most anti-Israel given Ike thought recognizing Israel was a very stupid thing to do, but actions are what counts and Obama hasn’t really acted.

  • Anonymous

Ike ran for the office of President four years after Israel was recognized as a Nation, and took office in the fifth year after it recognition. So his view really did not matter did it?

Yes, Obama’s lack of action is the issue.

  • Anonymous

that doesn’t mean Ike didn’t have an opinion at the time, same one as Secretary of State and former General Marshall, and Ike’s actions in office weren’t particularly supportive of Israel as he favored Egypt in the Suez Crisis.  Truman wasn’t even a big fan of Israel, he just did it b/c Jewish groups, and a close friend, put serious pressure on him.

First off, Marshall was not a Former General, he was a RETIRED General. Just like General (Ret) Colin Powell when he was Secretary of State, and General (Ret) Petraeus is as Director of the CIA.

So when you want to get your facts straight get back to me.

You also neglect the fact that Ike was not President at the time.

St Thomas Aquinas said that, ”Human law is law only in virtue if it’s in accordance with right reason: and thus it is manifest that it flows from Eternal Law. In so far as it deviates from right reason, it is called unjust law; in such case it is no law at all but rather a species of violence”. Now is the time for action and for voices. Law is determined to be just or unjust by examining if it squares with moral code, God’s Law. Our religious freedoms are clearly in disregard by this administration. It has been shown in their attitudes toward the Jewish people, now the Catholics. Who will be next? Take a stand before all of our rights disappear…

  • Anonymous

you got me on a technicality.  I’m sorry I said former instead of retired.  One slight misunderstanding doesn’t change anything else in which keeping with smart cold war policy he favored the arabs over Israel.
Ike still had an opinion on the matter regardless of if he was or was not the president, and he was president during the Suez Crisis.
Basically nobody in the Truman administration thought recognizing Israel was a good idea except Clark Clifford and a few others.  As the article by Isseroff points out General Marshall thought it was a terrible idea and threatened to resign.  Warren Austen, the US delegate to the UN, resigned as soon as he heard that we had recognized Israel.  Marshall ended up not resigning and rushed to the UN once recognition was announced to prevent the rest of the furious US delegation from following in Austen’s footsteps.

The point is that Obama is far from being one of the most anti-Israel president’s we’ve had.

I have a question, who is the Rebellious one? Is it the one who is against a government that chooses to disrespect the very Constitution that we live under. Or is the Rebellious One the one who is rebells against the Constitution? In order to answer that question  one must first establish what is the base from which it is supposed to be determined as right? Hence if the Constitution is right. Then those who are against the Constitution are the Rebellious Ones. Therefore the Supreme Court Judges who rule against the Constitution are the Rebellious ones. The Administration who changes the rules to operate against the Constitution are the Rebellious ones, and yet, it is the Administration who is now classifying the American People as the Rebellious group? I am in Support of the Constitution, I am against an Administration that defies the Constitution and shows disdain and disrepect for that Constitution. I am an American! Our Present administration is the Rebellious one.  Do I hear a second?

You know, there were some of us who warned the public of the dangers of voting for Obama in 2008. I started on Dec 31, 2007. No one would listen. There dozens of us, who spread the word of the evils that just didn’t add up right. and yet, the people were so blind, the blacks were so blind, that they voted in the evilness that was brewing rebellion. The dangerous thing is to vote “Rebellion”. and win. For it leads to anarchy, large government and worse, Control of the people.  What a sad state of affairs we are in. Only Our God can bring us out of this misery and that wont happen until the people cry out to him and utilize 2 Chron 7:14 … For God has sworn to live by that verse and listen to his people. No His people are more than just the Jews. The Gentiles are his people too!

Then after it was passed, Obama turns around and tells Religion that they have to deny their beliefs and support abortion? support contraceptives? Man, you are blind, just as the Lord said to us to beware of the Blind Guides. Obama is a deceiver. And he doesn’t care either. He says what he wants to say in order to accomplish his goals. Which is to destroy America, Break America’s wealth, bust her banks, infiltrate her Army and Navy with homosexuals who wont fight and make it easier to defeat the USA militarily.  Man, if you can’t see the orchestrated attack on the American People then you need to go back to school and learn how to discern. You’re exactly right.  I don’t mind checking out his blogs.  Just about every subject matter can be seen and discussed on Fox News or elsewhere.  Why would anyone in their right mind pay for GBTV?  He has defended a muslim woman denied shooting lessons by a Texas gunshop owner, defended the lesbian ellen degenerate and called Newt G supporters bigots and insane.  He’s a sensationalist thinking he’s a modern day Nostradamus with a crystal ball and all others are too ignorant to see what’s coming.  He’s right wing one day, left the next, mid way the next.  As consistant as the weather, and a christian?      Technically Palestinians are Semitic peoples so he’s been pretty anti-Semitic before, I know you mean Jews specifically.  Still since the Palestinians count he’s been very anti-semitic in the past.

    sorry for the length.
it’s not a factual problem to accidentally use former vs. retired especially considering once you’re retired you no longer act as a general and it has nothing to do with the point anyway.

    http://www.questia.com/PM.qst?a=o&d=58329235
While American Israeli relations did improve after the Suez Crisis this had more to do with the Cold War and mutual interests than a special love of Israel.

“The adoption by Congress on March 9, 1957, of the Eisenhower Doctrine inaugurated a major U.S. commitment to diminish Soviet and Nasserite influence in the region and at the same time maintain stability in the Middle East by attempting to prevent an Arab-Israeli war. Israel’s cooperation in achieving both objectives marked a turning point in U.S.-Israeli relations.”

Here is a more concise version of my argument on Eisenhower, which does state that he would not have recognized Israel had he been in Truman’s place, by the senior editor for The Jewish Press written in 2009.  I used this for a paper.
    http://hnn.us/blogs/entries/72346.html

In short things started out ugly with Israel’s refusal to halt a project that would direct water to the Negev.  Then in retaliation for Arab sabotouge Sharon blew up some buildings that he likely believed to be empty but weren’t and killed a bunch of civilians.  Then Ben-Gurion lied to Ike about it which pissed Ike off.  In response to these two events Ike became the first president to suspend our financial aid to Israel.
The reason Ike was so hard on Israel unlike Truman was
“Eisenhower vowed that his approach to the Middle East would never be
dictated by political pressure, which was a polite way of saying he
wasn’t about to be influenced by the Jews”
Then the Suez Crisis and the Israeli occupation of Sinai led to another suspension of all aid until they withdrew along with serious threats of crippling sanctions plus donations to Israel in America would no longer be tax deductible

    and finally
“The final years of Eisenhower’s second term were relatively quiet with
regard to the Arab-Israeli conflict. Relations between the U.S. and
Israel, which had come close to unraveling in late 1956 and early 1957,
gradually returned to where they were pre-Suez, which is to say not
particularly close but relatively free of tension and mutual mistrust.”.

When Obama starts using the immense leverage we have with Israel to get them to cooperate then it can be said he is anti-Israel.

  • Anonymous

You still didn’t quote Glenn, and anti-Semitism is a term that specifically refers to the hatred of Jews, period. Just look the word up in the dictionary, it’s that simple.  There is a Semitic language but the term anit-Semitism is widely, about 99.9% regarded as hatred of Jews as an ethnic group or religion.  Glenn Beck is an intense advocate of the State of Israel.  How is that anti-Semitic?? Strtlk didn’t specify his broad definition of anti-Semite.  What you are attempting to do henrybest is imply that one who supports the existence of the State of Israel and Jews in general can be referred to as anti-Semitic.  That just sounds stupid.

  • Anonymous

All I’m saying is Palestinians are Semitic.  Under that definition Glenn would be fairly anti-Semitic.  And frankly digging up the stuff Glenn has said about the Palestinians and his support of the Israeli myths that are even being disputed in Israel by the new historians is more work than a comment section is worth.
I just thought it was kinda funny that they’re both Semites.  Really I was just splitting hairs.

  • Anonymous

Brilliant as always Glenn.  My first reaction to this move by the Obama administration was they are saying God is dead – no – that God isn’t.  And to plaster my office, my car, myself, with ‘God Is’. You unerringly went to the heart of the matter asking why?  Why would he do this?  I had just read in the last day or so that the UNION had decided to up the ante in their effort to create more unrest.  I had for some reason thought of Sun Tzu’s Art of War:  18. All Warfare is based on deception.  Hmmm. 19.   Hence, when able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must seem inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near.  20.  Hold out baits to entice the enemy.  feign disorder, and crush him.  22.  If your opponent is of choleric temper, seek to irritate him.  Pretend to be weak, that he may grow arrogant. 23.  If he is taking his ease, give him no rest.  If his forces are united, separate them. So where does this lead?  Unrest. Divide and conquer.  Maybe we should all head for Paraguay.  Or New Zealand.  Or could it be there is some significance to 2012.  Apocalypto.  The more I see, the more I read, the more surreal things seem to be.

Say this was the Church of Scientology and not the Catholic church.  And, say it was mental health services and psychiatric medicines–the use of which the Church of Scientology opposes–instead of birth control.  Would it be okay to allow the non-Church of Scientology employees be discriminated against by the church’s leaders?  Of course not.  Americans would not allow the Church of Scientology to deny employees access to such services and medications through their healthcare coverage.  Regardless of what the Pope and the Bishops believe and claim, the vast majority of Catholics use birth control.  If they didn’t, most Catholic families would be as big as the Duggars’ family!  This is a prime example of why we need to move to a single-payer healthcare system.  We should not have to rely upon getting healthcare coverage through an employer.

I went to Catholic School growing up, I received all of my Sacraments for my stage in life, was an altar boy, and now serve as a lecturn and am a member of The Knights of Columbus. For me, it is what I know- though I would describe myself as a Christian first, and Catholic second. Reason being: The Bible is the Word of God, I believe in God, not in man. Therefore, God is truth, but a religious institution does not mean as much to me. I don’t agree with everything Catholic, either.

Recent examples are the Church’s stance on illegal immigrants (that we should provide sanctuary), and perhaps most recently appalling to me was The Vatican coming out saying that we need to support the need for a World Centralized Bank. Yeesh. Talk about Apocalyptic.

What bothers me, is the Catholic Church is coming to the table of realizing the threats to our individual liberty and freedom a bit late.

If I am not mistaken, it was the same Catholic Church that supported Obamacare at its origin. The majority of my fellow Catholics voted for Obama in the last election. Talk about misguided and uninformed.

Overall, I’m glad to see that another segment of our population has awoken from its slumber, but I can’t help but ask: what took so long?

How do you convince people to get off the govt. gravytrain? He talks about cutting the spending but won’t talk about cutting the foreign aid when everyone knows the cuts are going to have to be deep and hit every corner. He only advocates genrealities. In my opinion. Anyone can just point out the problems.

One question I have is why would the administration do this now?  You have to remember that Obama is focused on re-election, so how does this help his re-election?  Rick Santorum, throughout this election cycle has been asked about social issues by the media, even though these issues were on the backburner, with the economy front and center.  The media wanted people to think Santorum=social consevative, leaving Santorum without an opportunity to speak on the issues that concerned Americans at the moment.  It is a strategy to marginalize him.  By hanging around, Santorum is now having the opportunity to speak out on the issues; Obamacare, cap and trade, energy, the environment, defense, etc.

But now, the Obama administration is putting a social issue front and center in the campaign with its contraception directive to the Catholic Church.  This action invigorates Rick Santorum’s candidacy which is picking up steam anyway because of his conservative message.  Not only are social conservaties invigorated, but so are other Americans who believe in religious freedom.  My conclusion is, is that they wanted to invigorate Santorum’s campaign to weaken Mitt Romney.  They expect Romney to win because he is the establishment choice, with the money and organization, but such a fight with the conservative base in the person of Santorum will divide the party.  And even if Santorum wins the nomination, they expect to retain a large part of the Catholic vote because of the unions, and the amnesty issue for Hispanics regarding immigration, believing that a great many Catholics are secularized.  It is a calculated and cynical political strategy.  Create turmoil, chaos and divide and conquer.

Rick Santorum is handling the situation well.  He is disciplined in his message and is acting even-handedly on the social issues.  His opponents will try to present him as an extemist, but his even-handed presentation will belie those attacks,  Santorum’s obstacle will be the torrent of attacks he will get, first by Romney’s super pac, then Obama.  Santorum could be overcome if he is drowned out by the onslaught.  In addition to staying disciplined, he needs money and organization.  Hopefully, after last night, he will get that.  I haven’t forgotten Newt Gingrich.  He is strong in the South and has many committed adherents, further dividing the party, but I think that his liabilities as a candidate are immense, not least of which is what will happen if he wins.

At heart, Gingrich has a big government top-down mentality.  His solutions are based on him mobilizing the government to fix the problem.  That is not a conservative.  He also has a chaotic management style.  Just ask the members of Congress who served with him.  Look at the way he runs his campaign, and how he struck out at Paul Ryan and Romney’s work at Bain.  Romney, at heart is a moderate liberal.  Most recently, he blithely said he would tie the minimum wage to inflation.     No conservative thinks this way.  A conservative would see the destruction of opportunities for the young, and the destructive effect on the economy at large.  Romney will tinker with the existing government machine and manage it well, leaving the machinery intact for the next liberal to run roughshod over our liberties.  At heart, Santorum is a conservative.  You can question his judgment, but never his principles.  Faced with a problem, his default position is conservative.  He may make practical decisions that are not purely conservative, frusttrating some of us at one time or another.  If he makes a mistake, he will try to correct it.  Because he is a conservative.  There will be times he will make a compromise keeping the bigger picture in mind, and he will frustrate some of us and he will be right.  Just like Reagan.  He will not compromise on judicial nominations, he will not compromise on defense.  He is a conservative

Obama’s strategy is politically sound, albeit destructive.  The best we can do is coalace around the true conservative leading the tea party slate into the election, Rick Santorum, and weather the storm within and without the Republican Party.   This is a treacheous environment.  But it is what we must do to save our country.

Obama must hate his job to be pushing this crap on us. Why is it that the left attacks us all people of faith like this but radical Muslims get a pass for trying to kill us? The answer is simple they both hate our guts because of how this country was founded. Both the left and radical Muslims hate Christians and what we believe in because we have freedom. Also because we will not kiss their god’s rear for radical Muslims and the left worship Marxs.  Let’s stand in front of evil and not back down.

I’ve disagreed with Glenn many times about issues, but not every time, and i don’t resist letting Glenn know when i feel he’s being inconsistant.  Also when it comes to muslims, several months ago Glenn defended a muslim woman denied shooting lessons by a Texas gunshop owner, which i very much disagreed.  Also, obummer is the most antichristian president in america’s history.  Also, from the appearance of your extreme hate of Glenn, from your many posts,  i wonder why do you even visit this site?  Your obsession with Glenn and your obvious extreme hate towards him makes any sane person wonder if you would pose a threat to Glenn.  You don’t appear to be psychologically stable.  There are many “wacko’s” in our world and you sir appear to fall within that catagory.  It might prove a good idea to either find another site to post your hate or at the very least, tone down your rhetoric

What’s new?  It is Obummer’s continued assault on our Constitution and religious beliefs, if it not be Muslim…

The answer is so obvious he doesn’t have to spell it out each and every time. Stop the liberals and Obama, cut their funding and return this country to its core values established by the founders.

The only thing Glenn has not told us is that no matter what we do or how we do it, the Bilbe is still correct and the story ends the same way. Believers (the church) will be taken to Heaven and all hell will break loose on Earth. Say hello to the tribulation.

What exactly is anti-Semitic?  Can we stop trying to button-hole people with labels and focus on the objective truth and observed behaviors?

Let’s face it, no people group is without sin, for we all sin and fall short of the glory of God.  We’re all accountable for our actions toward our fellow man.   No one should be exempt from scrutiny, no matter how rich, how powerful or how many media corporations they control.  So enough with the hate, racist, bigotry anti-race rhetoric that merely feeds into class warfare.  I realize that this is all intentional to foment social unrest and inspire th suppression of free speech.  But let us not permit those who intend it that way to undermine genuine civil debate in the public square.  Let the facts speak for themselves and let all facts be aired without vilifying the messenger.  Such name calling is immature and uncivilized.

God’s demonstration of social justice is to provide “rain for the just and the unjust”. Equality of opportunity mercifully maintains the pursuit of happiness, human dignity and free choices without undo obligation and slavery.

The Catholic Church has added an 8th sacrament called “social justice”. Catholic leadership, in the name of Jesus, love and charity, expects and promotes government entitlements to people capable of mitigating their own difficulties and personal sin consequences.

God has already provided the framework for human survival and prosperity. God does nothing for people that can and should do for themselves. Both Obama and the Catholic Church should learn what works from God’s methods.

This is all designed to be a distraction to fill the MSM airwaves with meaningless content while Obama and his elitist masters set up the world for WWIII in the Middle East and economic collapse here at home.  Those are the big important stories that are getting insufficient coverage while we debate the meaningless.

We’re living in the final days of the end times.  Why should it surprise us that Biblical Christian faith and church institutions of various denominations are under relentless assault from all quarters?  Satan and his allies are on the rise.  The one world government foretold in Biblical prophecy is just around the corner.  The plan is to throw western civilization politically, economically and socially into chaos and anarchy, so that the New World Order police state can “save the day” and usher in martial law and an end to our constitutional freedoms.  Good for the elites; bad for everyone else.

Who cares if an church institution is required to offer contraceptives to its members?  If its members are obeying the teachings of God in the Bible, they won’t kill the unborn with contraceptives that cause abortions because it displeases the God they love.  If they don’t, of what business is it for any man-made institution to halt people from making such a choice if it is legal?  The eternal consequences will fall on the individuals who made those choices.  End of story.

The big question all of us must answer now is, “are you ready for what’s coming next?”  If you are clueless what’s coming, you better get yourself educated, starting with Biblical prophecy.  It appears to me that the great “falling away” of believers in the truth of the Bible is already well under way.  We’ve experienced the wars and rumors of war and we’ve witnessed earthquakes, tsunamis in Asia and Haiti and famines in Africa.  Next the man of lawlessness needs to be revealed.  Once that happens, the Rapture of catching up of the saints (believers in Jesus) could occur at any moment.  Those who are left behind are in for hell on earth.  The New World Order ain’t what it’s cracked up to be.

Many who are complacent and confident that they are saved because they go to church every Sunday are in for a rude awakening when they discover that they must be born again in the Spirit to be saved.  This isn’t about some spiritual experience with a flash of light, trumpets blaring and speaking in tongues.  This is about committing our lives to a personal relationship with Jesus in which we submit and surrender our lives and our wills to Jesus in everything as our Lord, King and Master.  Are you there yet?  If not, I urge you to get a clue and do it.  Time is running out.  Everything else is sheer rubbish if you haven’t gotten right with God first.

President Obama is an unequivocal enemy to my values.  He is a stranger to my patriotism.  Prior to his latest legislation involving birth control, okay I hate to state the obvious, birth control was available basically everywhere.  If the demand for contraceptives is that strong, then the insurance companies that refuse to offer coverage for contraceptives couldn’t succeed right?  Due to the laws of supply and demand, refusal to offer a vital service should render your company impotent in the market.

Personally, I grew up Lutheran and I really don’t understand why Catholics are opposed to birth control.  It does have many useful purposes.  But the point is, it doesn’t matter how I or anybody else feels about this Catholic belief.  It’s not my business to tell someone else how to handle a matter that is sensitive to THEIR core beliefs.  If I acquire an enormous amount of power and decide that I will force someone to do something they don’t feel right about, ON THE BASIS OF THEIR RELIGION, is openly corrupt according to the Constitution and flat out disrespectful.

The paradox here is that Obama and people who think like him will always stress the pertinence of the separation of church and state in this country.  The Catholic church, which encompasses all of its institutions (chapels, hospitals, charities, insurance coverage) is a private entity.  Under that mode of thinking, Obama, i.e., the state should separate it’s nose from this private entity’s business.

I do NOT care about those so called new historians.  I care about ACTUAL historians who have ACTUALLY done research on the so called myths of Israel.  News flash for you.  According to ACTUAL historians, those myths purported by Netanyahu and Glenn are NOT myths at all.  They are 100% real.  You are NOT discussing subjects with facts, at all.  You are discussing subjects with outright lies proven to be lies by actual facts documented by actual historians.  I advise you to quit acting like an idiot and start looking at actual documented historical facts some time.  You might actually learn something.

  • Anonymous

I have used facts cited sources and discussed past respected presidents who treated Israel much worse than Obama who has done nothing other than say stuff; you only capitalize words.

Obama continues to send massive amounts of aid that Israel doesn’t really need despite the fact that they ignore calls to cease settlement construction.
Obama blocked Palestine’s statehood in the UN which if he had gone along with the rest of the world would have created massive human rights issues for Israel.

I stand with Israel unconditionally.  A Jewish man named Haym Salomon provided the majority of the funding for George Washington’s army at a critical point of the Revolutionary War.  Look at the back of a one dollar bill, above the head of the american eagle, the thirteen stars representing America’s thirteen colonies, form the shape of the Star of David.

What’s the most significant “Palestinian” contribution to world history?  Putting up a six day fight in 1967 I suppose.

No.  You did NO such thing.  You used the work of the bogus new historians.  And Todd’s already caught you in some of your outright lies regarding the past Presidents.  NO other President has treated Israel as badly as Obama has.  That is a documented fact that ONLY complete fools would deny.  Seriously, you might want to quit being such an idiot here.

  • Anonymous

They used recently declassified IDF documents among other government sources.
Perhaps it will be more helpful, though based on the past you will ignore me and just continue to call me an idiot without any real proof, if i list some of the specific myths.

First- Israel was vastly outnumbered and it was a miracle they won the 1948 war.  In fact Israel’s military outnumbered the combined Arab forces they were facing and benefited from significantly better training, experience as they had many vets from the Africa campaigns of WWII.  They also benefited from each Arab nation having conflicting interests and not coordinating with each other.  Only Jordan was able to best the Irgun and other Israeli militias but they British officers and were well trained and armed.

Second- Palestinians fled their homes of their own free will.  Pretty much every document from the era shows otherwise that they were forced out of their homes by the Irgun and Haganah(sp?) and expelled from their homes.

Third- the British tried to prevent the creation of the Jewish state.  This couldn’t be further from the truth.  Throughout the mandate the british consistently favored the Israelis, who benefited from the Palestinians boycott of the Mandate as they thought it was unjust to have that legislated on them by the League of Nations.  The British also gave the Palestinians a false date for their evacuation and the end of the mandate, the actual date was approximately a month earlier and it allowed the Israelis the element of surprise in cities such as Haifa where most of the Palestinian population was immediately expelled.

Fourth- the new historians argue that Israel was the main problem with the inability for peace.  However, I did the readings to long ago to remember their specific argument and the whole peace thing is too complicated to address in a comment section anyway.

Yes and i responded to his point which i neglected at first with a well documented history of Eisenhower’s dealings with Israel which were much less favorable than Obama’s.  We really weren’t great friends with Israel till JFK, Johnson, and Nixon.  Until then they were also pretty chummy with the USSR.

The fact is you can’t produce anything Obama has done, not said but actually done, that has been detrimental in the least to Israel.

You are part of the problem.  You’re the same as liberals who say Israel is pure evil, or Obama is a good to decent president, and Bush was some sort of facist moron.  Your that same guy who ignores everything that doesn’t agree with what you’ve already decided is fact, you’re just the conservative version.  And you’re just as detrimental as the liberal version of you.
It’s not a matter of agreeing, it’s a matter of thinking, discussing, and questioning with boldness.  The only thing you will question is the intelligence of anyone who doesn’t see things the way you do, and there is nothing bold about that.  It’s cowardly and childish.

Okay, stupid, follow along. The Romans named it Palestine when they were in control to infuriate the Jews, as Rome was polytheistic at the time. The name stuck with every empire that exchanged ownership of Palestine, up to the Ottoman Empire, who it was taken from after WWI, and given to the British Empire to control under the League of Nations Mandate of Palestine. Between that time and the end of WWII, Jewish people petitioned Britain to allow them to have part of the land for a home land because of their ancestral claim to the land, from before the Roman Empire. At the end of WWII, the British Empire was looking to limit their empire, and no longer wanted to control of Palestine, so it began to look for a way out, the UN partition plan provided it in 1947.

Israel did not exist until after the UN partition plan was rejected by the Arabs. The Jewish Agency for Israel did accept the partition plan. The Jewish Agency became the provisional Government of Israel on May 14, 1948.

As to your loose, and moronic analogy, Texas, Arizona, California, New Mexico, and other Southwestern states have large Mexican populations and are already part of an independent nation, you might know it as the United States of America. If the UN was to do something so stupid, first, the US would veto it, and secondly, the UN would almost immediately lose 40%+ of its funding, provided by the US.

My whole point is that nothing about Palestine’s nationhood or anything has to do with whether the foundation of Israel and the taking of Palestinian land is in any way shape or form justified.  The argument of Palestinian nationalism and the other stuff has long been disputed and nobody will ever agree on it.

And of course it was drive the jews into the sea, in WWII we were going to kill all the “japs”.  All kinds of terrible things are rallying cries in war, especially amongst soldiers.

Israel didn’t leave the old city to Jordan, they were incapable of pushing Jordanian troops out of the old city before peace was enforced.

I do read.  Until I read, did my own research, i was completely in the Israel bag.  I don’t think their bad guys, certainly they now have every right to exist and it’s something we all have to deal with.  But I also recognize they have a very nasty history, and the Palestinians got screwed by everyone who could possibly screw them.

Okay, lets address the analogy first, it is not even close the UNITED STATES is a RECOGNIZED NATION In the International community, and has been since, oh, 1776, so you again prove yourself to be STUPID. Strike one.

The 1924 Mandate of Palestine uses the word Democracy a grand total of zero times. Strike two.

The Mandate of Palestine included other Arab lands, that related to the McMahon-Hussein Correspondence, you might know them as Syria, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Jordan today. Strike Three, that mean your out.

McMahon-Hussein Correspondence, 1915-1916. Balfour Declaration, 1917. Newer policies generally superseded older ones. Strike One.

You claimed that Britain lied to the Arabs about their withdrawal date elsewhere, yet they announced the very date they actually ended the mandate on December 11, 1947 as May 14, 1948. Strike two.

You lied about Eisenhower being President in 1948. Strike three. That is your second out. You only get one more.

Yes, it was brilliant, the Jewish people preserved their Nation, and denied the Arabs a fifth state from the Mandate.

The funny thing about it is one of these morons don’t even know what anti-Semitism even means. This means: hostility toward or discrimination against Jews as a religious, ethnic, or racial group. How does standing against Palestine is anti-Semitism when they are not Jews.

  • jen

You are very naive and must be told everything and don’t get hints until you are blatantly told what to believe and say.  If Beck was enthusiastic for Santorum, he would hype him up as frequently as he smashes down Newt (like the liberal media), but he lays low on Santorum.   It really doesn’t arise much emotion in speaking about Santorum.  And truth is that there isn’t really anything much to discuss as he has no plan or budget proposals, etc…  The only thing he has is extreme religious support and a couple of overhyped achievements in congress that weren’t even his, like welfare reform.

Media plays games – Beck is using Romney’s exact strategy to beat his main threat – Newt.  By bashing Newt with distorted lies (that apparently Beck’s religion allows) and not speaking of Romney’s record, he helps Romney.  You have to be truly dumb and unpatriotic to not get that.

I was not speaking to you directly.  But to the comment on ‘what took so long’.

Christian, Islam, and Judaism are all descended from the monotheistic tradition of Abraham.  They are all considered Abrahamic religions.
While Christians and Jews follow the line of Isaac, Muslims look to Ismael.  Muslims believe that God revealed his message to man many times and that each time man got involved and tainted the message.  They believe this message was given to the Jews through Moses among others, and they believe God gave the message to Christians through Jesus (whom they consider the second greatest prophet and believe in the immaculate conception).  Muslims believe God once more gave his message to man this time through Muhammad who was only holy when God was speaking through him but was otherwise just a man.  Since God chose him he was clearly a pretty good guy.
You don’t have to be a nation to get screwed, you just have to be people who get screwed out of your land, screwed by your neighbors, and screwed by the international community.
Frankly it’s an apartheid state or if that’s a little strong for you, it is at least a state in an Israeli prison.  They tried to stay in their country, but they got kicked out in 1948.

Everything that is happening to our country is foretold in the bible. The term “new world order” is  not something the radicals have invented. The Lord our God told of this coming tyranny a long time ago, do your homework. Many believe we are the last generation, this is not about Democrats or Republicans it is about the inevitable due to mankind. We cannot stop the coming storm but you can prepare your hearts and souls. Do not be fearful but stand strong, in your faith, and sleep like babies for those who belong to him, Jesus Christ King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He is our mighty fortress.
This story about attacks on faith communities is only going to escalate, but in all areas of our personal lives. Not just on faith issues,of separation of church and state but all areas of our private lives. Our current commander is being used by people, and forces to usher in the “new world order”. He is not the “brains” merely a tool. But the sheeple of the world ( not informed )
who are asleep, and I believe want to stay asleep, out of fear. But there are those of us who are watching the elite puppet masters also being used by the “principalities of darkness” for their own purposes.

“Churches pay taxes that are used to pay for unjust wars”???!!!

Where did you get this nonsense?
First of all, churches are non-profit organizations. Taxes do not apply for non-profit orgs! Taxes that do not exist cannot be used for financing “unjust wars” or any kind of wars.

America’s tax laws are designed to favor non-profit and charitable institutions which presumably benefit the community. The buildings of private schools and universities, for example, are exempt from property taxes. Donations to charities like the Red Cross are tax deductible. Organizations which engage in medical or scientific research can take advantage of favorable tax laws. Environmental groups can raise tax-free funds by selling books.

Churches, however, tend to benefit the most from the various tax exemptions available, in particular because they qualify for many of them automatically. Churches, in order to avoid possibly excessive entanglements between church and state, do not have to submit financial disclosure statements.

Tax benefits for religious organizations fall into three general categories: tax-free donations, tax-free land and tax-free commercial enterprises…

To summarise the main point, churches and states are separated. Even a grade 3 elementary student knows that. Where did you get your education, in Pakistan?

Unless you are confusing “church tax” with government tax. The “church tax” (also known as “tithing”, which amount is  10% of ones income) is only paid by the church members to the church they belong to (and not for the government), for the purpose to pay the minister (pastor), to cover the electricity, phone and other utility bills, or other expenses of the church…

If this is how you feel, why not take issue with the Arabs invading Israel (1948)? How about Iraq invading Kuwait?

  • Anonymous

Iraq invading Kuwait is pretty clear cut act of aggression.
The 1948 war has no clear cut aggressor.  The Arabs announced intentions to invade if Israel declared statehood, the Israelis acted very aggressively against the Palestinians expelling and even in at least one case one of the more radical militias slaughtered a village.
There are no good guys.  This is as nasty a conflict as there has been in the modern world.  There is blood on everyone’s hands.  The seizure of Palestinian land and subsequent oppression is difficult to justify under any human rights standards.  Both sides have committed horrific atrocities. But as long as people continue to push the Israeli myth or the Palestinian myth (equally as far from the truth) nothing will ever come of any peace process.
This is the best documentary i’ve ever seen on the conflict, shows the myths of both sides, both sides have some warped evidence to back it up.  In all of this it is difficult to find the truth.
It’s called the Birth of Israel.

So then why is Arab invasion of Israel not a clear cut act of aggression? Why so hypocritical? You cannot have it both ways. Sorry.

  • Anonymous

What do you think about it? It sounds like censorship and restriction of free speech to me, but that’s entirely based on what you are claiming to be the truth.

  • Anonymous

It’s not a clear cut act of aggression b/c it is in response to the aggressive actions of Israel.  While not directly assaulting the Arabs the declaration of a state was essentially an assault on the Palestinians, especially as it was a jewish state (which left no place for the Palestinians) that immediately began expelling the Palestinians although the Arabs already decided they would attack before it became evident that this would happen.  An assault on the Palestinians was considered an Assault on all the Arabs, Jordan especially had reason as a large amount of Zionists wanted to have what they considered more traditional borders of Israel that included much of Jordan.  This group still exists although they are now a minority mostly concentrated on building settlements so that the occupied territories can never be given back.
The act of declaring the state itself can be seen as an invasion of Palestinian lands and their basic human right to self determination.
Like anything else in this conflict it is ugly and complicated.  The Arab motivations were far from pure, each wanting to beat Israel for the Palestinians but also at the same time looking to expand their territory and possible gain guardianship of the holy lands.

I know it’s a lie.  That’s why it’s a myth.  It’s what the Israelis were teaching in the 70s and 80s before the new historians began to question with boldness.

While I agree with you that the British helped greatly in the formation of a jewish state you’re reasoning is wrong.
The Balfour declaration proves nothing other than that the british at one point in time made a promise.  The Bristish consistently broke promises, including one promising the area to the arabs a year before the Balfour declaration.
And the Jewish state was formed by the UN after the British gave up on the whole issue.  The Israelis taught that the british worked against them to justify their acts of terrorism prior to the evacuation of the mandate forces.

Really you’re supporting the fact that the third myth purported by the Israelis and proven wrong by the new historians is exactly that a myth.

  • Anonymous

The actions of Israel: Declaring Independence from the UK, not Aggression.
Actions of Arabs: Invading Israel, is Aggression.

  • Anonymous

they didn’t declare independence from the UK, the UK had left and turned over the mandate to the UN.
They declared independence and claimed a Jewish state in a predominately non-Jewish area.  The christian Arabs fought against Israel.  They claimed Palestinian land as their own and posed a direct threat.
Basically the Zionists (many of whom were atheists and socialists in the beginning) came in and said this is ours.  The Arabs were coming to the defense of Palestine, with their own personnel ambitions but at the heart was Palestine.
Fine you’re Palestinian you’re in Haifa.  Israel declares a Jewish state, you’re in it, you had no say whatsoever, and guess what the city is being shelled and you’re been kicked out.  War ends, never allowed to return to your private property.  Does this make Israel evil?  No, we were just as bad to the native americans plus we had slaves but we’re far from evil.  But their not saints and the Palestinians and Arabs have every right to hate Israel let alone invade in 1948.

  • Anonymous

So The Arabs did not get the Nation of Saudi Arabia in 1932?
    How about Iraq in 1932?
    How about Syria in 1946?
    How about Jordan in 1946?

In what world is that not keeping the promise of the McMahon–Hussein Correspondence?
Four nations were not enough? They could not leave Israel with 8,522 sq mi (post-1967 area)?
They had to have it all and tried to take it by invading. Which is an act of aggression.

Where has Israel tried to prove that Britain tried to stop the nation from forming?

  • Anonymous

Once again you lie. Israel declared Independence on May 14, 1948, the day the Mandate was scheduled to end. the UK did not plan to be fully withdrawn from Palestine until August of that year.

Yet the Arab league started attacks on Jews as early as December of 1947.

I never claimed that Israel was full of Saints. I have claimed they deserved to have a nation just like the Arabs had a right to four of them that they got.

From the Israeli Declaration of the Establishment of the State of Israel:

ACCORDINGLY WE, MEMBERS OF THE PEOPLE’S COUNCIL, REPRESENTATIVES OF THE JEWISH COMMUNITY OF ERETZ-ISRAEL AND OF THE ZIONIST MOVEMENT, ARE HERE ASSEMBLED ON THE DAY OF THE TERMINATION OF THE BRITISH MANDATE OVER ERETZ-ISRAEL AND, BY VIRTUE OF OUR NATURAL AND HISTORIC RIGHT AND ON THE STRENGTH OF THE RESOLUTION OF THE UNITED NATIONS GENERAL ASSEMBLY, HEREBY DECLARE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A JEWISH STATE IN ERETZ-ISRAEL, TO BE KNOWN AS THE STATE OF ISRAEL.

  • Anonymous

Specifically in reference to Palestine which the Arabs understood to have been promised to them and the British claimed was not after the Balfour declaration.  The wording is very ambiguous and can really go both ways.  More specifically they were promised control over the Holy lands
Here are the complete correspondences with maps to show how each side has a reasonable argument http://www.mideastweb.org/mcmahon.htm

There were people already living in Palestine.  In no world is it moral to say you have four nations go away.
Israel had no claim to the land other than we’re moving in get used to it (now they’re very established and the Arabs need to just deal with it and work for a two state, or better yet one state solution where Israel is no longer a jewish state but a state of both zionists and Palestinians.  Of course while the one state solution may be the only one that is really possible given how many times a two state solution has failed to come into existence it is safe to say that we are at least 100 yrs away from a one state solution being a real possibility).
We’re Americans, more specifically conservatives.  An individual’s right to what’s theirs, their land, their home, their property is what we value more than just about anything else.  The land didn’t belong to the Israelis and it wasn’t right to just take it.

  • Anonymous

I didn’t lie, there is just as much to back up my argument as there is to back up yours.  That’s why there’s nothing close to a consensus on the history of this conflict.
They didn’t declare independence from the British, the british were leaving.  Right there it says nothing about declaring independence from the UK.  They declared a state and the said that the mandate ended that day.

“The British had notified the U.N. of their intent to terminate the mandate not later than 1 August 1948, However, early in 1948, the United Kingdom announced its firm intention to end its mandate in Palestine on 14 May”
It’s wikipedia but it’s the fastest way i could think of for finding this statement.
I could call you a liar, but that would not be accurate.  Lying is a conscious act with intent to deceive.  You believed what you were saying and didn’t know to look this information which would be difficult to find except i previously knew this from my own readings last semester.

  • Anonymous

You have serious reading comprehension issues, where did I ever write that Arabs were promised land after the Balfour Declaration? They were promised that prior too, and got their land prior to the Formation of Israel. Nations or parts there of that came from the Mandate of Palestine/Ottoman Empire: Iraq, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Israel. So the Arabs got three more nations that the Jewish people. They also got hundreds of thousands of more square miles, and wanted more.

So Jews had not right to the land they were run out of? Only Palestinians have that right?

  • Anonymous

You did lie, the UK troops were not gone on the date that Israel declared Independence. They were not scheduled to finish the job until 1 August 1948, three full months later.

On 11 December 1947 Britain announced the Mandate would end at midnight 14 May 1948 and its sole task would be to complete withdrawal by 1 August 1948.

    Wikipedia

“”They accordingly announced on 11 December 1947, that the Mandate would end on 15 May 1948, from which date the sole task … would be to … withdrawal by 1 August 1948.”"

Roza El-Eini (2006). Mandated landscape: British imperial rule in Palestine, 1929-1948. Routledge. p. 367. ISBN 9780714654263.

  • Anonymous

Well the Jews had no right to land that was already possessed by the Palestinians.  To suggest otherwise would be a redistribution of land or private property.  They had every right to what they owned just like the palestinians.

And Jews run out of the land?  That was thousands of years ago, too bad somebody else moved in and has been there for two thousand years.  We’ve kicked indians out of land as recently as 150 years ago and we tell them too bad and they have more of a claim to it than the Israelis do to Palestine.
Also when were the Israelis every a nation until they declared one in 1948?  They had the same empire history of the Palestinians except for about an 80 year period around the time of David.

Depends on who you ask and how you read the ambiguous wording as to whether the arabs got what they were promised.
You never wrote that, and having relooked over my past posts i don’t see where i suggested it or where it would have mattered.  What i was saying was, and definitely could have worded more clearly, that the british refuted the Arabs claim that Palestine fell within what they were promised after the british made the balfour declaration.  It’s not a critical point, but more where the controversy even came from.

  • Anonymous

There is no lie.  I honestly believe what i’m saying and I have no intent to deceive whereas you seem to have an constant intent to continuously add insults to an otherwise interesting discussion where you can really see what is probably dozens of well backed up different versions of the history of this conflict, who started it, who’s at fault and where to go from here.  You use different words and insults but it’s the same condescension you get from a lot of liberals when you talk about welfare and the free market, or really just about anything.
For all intents and purposes they were done.  The mandate was over, nobody to declare independence from, it just takes time to leave.  Either way declaring independence from the mandate at that point would only be a small technicality as the british had lost interest in being there and had no intention of doing anything.
