Former Victoria Secret model Kylie Bisutti opens up about her faith, career on GBTV

Glenn invited Kylie Bisutti onto GBTV tonight to discuss her faith and her decision to end her modeling career with Victoria Secret model.

When her story broke, The Blaze reported:

When Kylie Bisutti won the Victoria’s Secret Model Search in 2009, she was elated. Considering her initial excitement, some may be scratching their heads to hear that the model, now 21, has decided to turn her back on the profession that once brought her such immense fulfillment. She’s citing her Christian beliefs as the reason for her departure.

“Victoria’s Secret was my absolutely biggest goal in life, and it was all I ever wanted career-wise,” she explained. “But the more I was modeling lingerie, and lingerie isn’t clothing, I just started becoming more uncomfortable with it because of my faith.”

“My body should only be for my husband and it’s just a sacred thing,” she continued, reaffirming her belief that modeling lingerie isn’t morally sound. “I didn’t really want to be that kind of role model for younger girls because I had a lot of younger Christian girls that were looking up to me and then thinking that it was okay for them to walk around and show their bodies in lingerie to guys.”

Good for her.  It’s nice to see young people defend their beliefs, even when it has negative results for their professional life or career.

“ even when it has negative results for their professional life or career.”…I beg to differ with you on that…I think this a positive for her…money means nothing when you stand before God…I think she gets that…

    God bless you Kylie :)

Putting God over your career is very inspiring. God bless you and your family.

    You’re beautiful inside and out.

Oh, Agree 100% with that Planeboy!  Should have put “even IF it has negative results”, which you must admit in these days could happen.  Remember Miss California?

But I believe she will be happy with her decision.  I have 2 young christian boys, 16 and 22 in my house.  It’s hard being a young christian these days.

You got that right EsomNation! I’m 16 and I am the total outcast! (until I met other christians) but I don’t care. I’d rather be a jesusfreak then a godless teenager like most are unfortunately

It sounds as if you have blessings to count…and I agree the young have it very hard these days…but I also think that these are the days that try our souls..it will test the metal of children’s soul’s and they will become stronger if they can keep Him in their heart…

I love this.  Glenn you said, ummm baptized?  So how did it go with you with religion then? (paraphraze)  She corrected the mis-statement, …she said, it was kinda crazy and shortly after that (the baptism) my mom CAME TO KNOW THE LORD !!  Good for you Kylie.  I am not sure you even know that you steered away from religion to the correction of knowing the Lord.  But it is THE MOST misunderstood point of the whole deal about God.  It has nothing to do with religion…It is about a real relationship…a walk (literally) with a Living God.

Kylie never compare your life to others because that is what the world wants.  The world wants you not to be satisfied so that you will compromise your Faith because they do not want to come up that high.  You are comparing your self with your new life in Christ Jesus.  Who and what would Jesus do or say…becoming more like His character and that is what the world fears.

God Bless you for putting your Faith first and He will, is and has.  Amen.

Better to be hated for who you are than loved for who you are not.  Let the critics go pound sand.

I hear that there are no former Victoria Secret models, it’s like the firm. Once you’re in you’re for life. Reads like another diversion story from the coup and cover up.

I’m glad she took a stand for her faith, but I’m confused about one thing. Why was it that, “Victoria’s Secret was my absolutely biggest goal in life, and it was all I ever wanted career-wise,”? What did she think she was going to be doing when she tried out and won the model search…sell perfume?

Kylie Bisutti is a hero she chooses what is right over money. How many of us can say that we could do that?

  • jen

Kylie Bisuitti sounds Islamic.  The ‘Lord’ she found appears to be more of the Islamic type, when she says ‘my body should only be for my husband’.  Without wearing a head veil (as some Muslim women do not), she espouses the same ideology of Muslim woman about their bodies, which is entirley not in line with most of the world, including the western world.

This belief about your body is not ‘Christian’ by any means – it is either just her personal belief or or her individual faith versus anything to do with Jesus or true Christianity.

What she is saying sounds like something Bachman and Santorum would use politics to impose – their form of sharia law.

Jen you are pretty much right on the body part as Eve was covered by three fig leaves so skin is not sinfull or shamfull but the thoughts of the eyes of the beholder can be. If Kylie was baptised and she was born again into Christ God will never forsake her no mater what and how she makes a living. Many people change their carriers for the better and if it is to please her husband and set a good example for her children and other children; this is good. Victoria Secret isn’t going away and the spark they put into many marriages that keep the fire burning is not a bad thing. If Glen thinks Victoria Secret is a porn sight maybe he should examin his own mind .

Read playboy often.  Most western women feel the way she does.  It is the disgusting minds of the men in the USA that are the problem.  I have watched streaming news shows and it is absolutely disgusting the things men say about women they don’t even know.  I stopped watching because I could not stand the filth they spewed from their mouths.  Men have totally unrealistic views of womens bodies thanks to the modern media.

  • Anonymous

The women that model are mere skeletons.  Totally unrealistic and something needs to be done about it.  Men gauk at these pictures and want their women to look like them.  Totally unnatural and unrealistic.  There is a huge difference between these skeletons and real womens bodies.

My teen daughters used to watch, to my angst, America’s Next Top Model.   One episode several years ago the girls were to pose with a naked man, themselves naked except body paint.   The setup was the famous Adam and Eve painting.  One young aspiring model would not do it, saying her body was only for her husband and she could not.  As you might expect she was derided by a couple of hateful judges and treated as if she were some kind of religious zeolot.  Her decision resulted in her elimination from the competition. Although she will not become a top model, I will bet she and her husband thank God all the rest of thier lives for the wisdom of that decision, which will be told to thier children and grandchildren.  This principaled stand by this young model is another great example for us to admire.

it makes me think of camping..we love it, but after being in the woods for a few days, your hair is dirty, your clothes are dirty, grime under your fingernails, and as much fun as you have had, it feels so good to go home and take a shower and wash off the “campin’ dirt. You, Kylie, are to be commended and admired for washing off the “worldly” dirt!

What you are saying is literally the exact words that Islamic women in the Middle East say about western women – that they allow men to use their bodies and women are disrespectful because they do not cover up and allow other men to see them.  Some Christian preachers are preaching the Islamic gospel and their propanda onto women.

  • jen

What they choose to do with their bodies is up to them.  Tyra Banks and other models appear quite healthy.  There will be a few who diet too frequently, but then again so do so many other non-models.  It has nothing to do with faith.

  • ShootFirstThenAim

Kylie, Thank you! You are an inspiration and a great roll model for young women. God bless you!

Wonder if she is going to remove her implants too, or if she wears pads or push-ups with clingy dresses?  Anyway, I commend her positive decision.  To me, this woman is not beautiful in appearance; she must have gained her popularity by exploiting her enhanced body and I think the good Lord is using her at this time to teach people about right and wrong. My wife is a beautiful, intelligent and kind woman with model looks 5’6″ (sadly not tall enough to officially model)  she  now wears very modest clothing to cover her large assets because she does not wish to flaunt  anymore and has also changed her life for the better. (Other woman used to be extremely jealous of her when she wore tight clothing).  Hopefully, many more women will copy that former model’s decision as well.  Wish that woman luck in her newly change life.

Praise God for the courage that some of our young people are living out . . .  a testimony to every child of God.  We all should find ourselves everyday at the Throne of Grace seeking how the Lord would direct us to do the same . . . . glorifying Him in all things.

jen,  you’re funny.  Have either Bachmann or Santorum said: If I become president, this

is how you must live your life!?   Each is a strong Christian, but it’s doubtful either one

would impose her/his belief onto others.  You seem to be projecting.

Are you a Christian?  Are you familiar with the Holy Bible?   The Apostle Paul wrote:

(and I paraphrase) ”Don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit?”

Perhaps that is what Kylie was thinking?   Perhaps she felt like her semi-naked body

should only be seen by her husband and not put on display for other men to ogle?

Modesty is a Christian virtue (in word and dress) but seems to be sadly lacking in our

secular society.  And, no, I am not a prude.  I enjoy looking at a well formed body—but it

    all depends where and when.

  • http://www.facebook.com/tkoh.foundation.org Sarah Carrol

This is sort of twisted, but try to follow and of course consider the source?

She said, “She’s citing her Christian beliefs as the reason for her departure.” Ok hoorah, but lets not forget what made her famous to begin with? I mean the only reason anyone is listening to her is because of where she was to begin with. Don’t get me wrong it is a better thing that any of us be a better witness and we all know that it is all about sex, but how many are really doing anything to stop how boys look at women?

Ok you may think I sound like I am out there, but honestly how many Christians or those claiming to be Christians are out there in the US? Literally folks there are enough in the US to change the industry, by not buying the sexy stuff, but it won’t get better unless Christians pretty much stop buying that stuff. What is better is for parents to teach their boys in this case about the male role in the church and how to be a man and how real mean are not swayed by the sexy stuff? Huh? Ya right, ok so how many Christian males are influenced by the sexy stuff and  if you can figure that out you will see that many males are influenced, which is why there is such a big market in sexy stuff.

On the other hand ladies, mothers in particular teach their daughters how to get men and men like it as well.

Ok let’s try this from a different angle. How many Christian parents teach their children that God has not just a plan for them, but a calling and purpose and what it is really all about is all of us walking in that plan and purpose which differs from one person to the next? Then in addition, how many parents are teaching their children how to walk in their calling and purpose.

And………… that is why the sexy stuff is selling, because parents need to do a whole lot better teaching their children that God does have a plan, calling and purpose for each person in the body of Christ and the only things are going to get better on earth is if each of us learns how to walk in God’s plan and purpose and or calling.

It is not about this one woman that decided to be a Christian, but what it should be about is God’s purpose and calling for each person in the body of Christ. Without that men in the body of Christ, will still be going towards the sexy stuff.

That a girl!!!!! I’m glad that she came to that conculsion and is saving her precious body only to let her husband see; it is to be seen by only him!!!; I’m 81 years old and haven’t shown my body to anyonelse; this country has made a woman’s body open for men to disrespect and use as a playtoy and throw away.  Girls our bodies are designed by God and they are to be cherished and given only to the man God has chosen for you AND YOU WILL KNOW WHICH ONE HE IS; MINE FOUND ME 61 YEARS AGO
