Disagreement with GB usually brings ad hominem attacks around here. it is a pleasure to be presented with ideas to respond to. I am huge believer in history lessons from all perspectives; it allows one to make an informed and independent judgment. Most historians wrote or write with a bias, so it is up to the student to take historical opinions with a grain of salt. I read my children's history books with great interest, to see how the presentation changed since I was a kid. The fundamentals and basics of American History are there, albeit in a much more glossy and colorful presentation.There is no socialism in those texts, much as GB preaches to the contrary. Progressivism is highlighted, because, no kidding, it was a fundamental change in the way our evolving industrialized nation dealt with clearly identified problems in society.
