Real News Special Report: The Truth about the Recall of Governor Scott Walker in Wisconsin

Get Glenn Live! On TheBlaze TV

WHAT: Real News Special Report – An exclusive documentary from Ami Horowitz featuring an in-depth interview with Governor Walker.

WHY WATCH? Don’t miss one of the biggest stories in America that the mainstream media is missing. Governor Walker has literally turned around a dying state economy. He took a state deficit in the billions and turned it into a surplus. He turned the tide of jobs fleeing his state by creating one of the most welcoming environments for small businesses in the country.  Now millions upon millions of Wisconsin residents have signed petitions for his recall thanks to influence and propaganda by the unions, upset that he took away their collective bargaining.

WHAT’S AT STAKE? If the unions and left wing radicals are successful in getting Governor Walker booted out of office, no politician will take them on again…not in this lifetime.

The democrats cannot allow a success in Wisconsin by a conservative Governor.  It would lead to a domino effect around the country.  Socialism never works, but dummies who vote for liberals especially liberal democrats never learn, but they will feel the effects if they turn out Walker.

  • http://www.artinphoenix.com/gallery/grimm snowleopard (cat folk gallery)

This is one reason why the unions need to be gutted and either reformed or eliminated; they have been taken over by the progressive socialists from within and gotten too powerful by far. In league with the administration; they seek only to dominate and coerce their will upon the people everywhere they are employed.

About two years back the unionized workers here in AZ of Fry’s stores (who had in the past voted to unionize) went on strike for better wages. They won in the end as the campaing on the stores by the unions was massive, threatening and brutally executed.

    The workers won a $.50 hour/raise.

The unions now take 80% of that raise (per hour) for their dues.

So the union won in the end, not the workers.

Mind you this is direct testimony to me of over a dozen workers and some of the management who I did ask; I wanted to know more of the reasons the strike was going on as I do business with the store fairly often.

The unions are out of control and need to be stopped.

  • http://www.artinphoenix.com/gallery/grimm snowleopard (cat folk gallery)

Indeed, and may Walker win with overwhelming support.

I can see the unions and the admin, along with the leftist Democrats using the media and the courts to disrupt any results in Walkers favor. Let the dominoes fall one by one as we take the nation back.

There is a lot of money being poured into these activities. Where is the money trail for this. Is it the dues money that comes in from unions. Seems like a very costly venture given all of the money being spent on Occupy and more. Are the protestors being paid in most instances and where is that money coming from. I sense we have money going out to the middle east and returning here for these protests. If america and some serious investigative reporting does not wake up then I am afraid it will be doom for America as we know it. I am on the side of our Lord and praying that he returns right smack in the middle of all this. I know deep down according to the scriptures that is not going to happen until America has been overthrown. People including those being used in protests etc. do not realize what life is going to be like. Once overthrown we will find the truth on our bankruptcy in this country. It will be tough to turn off the faucet on all of this. People, get down on your knees and pray for mercy. God Bless all of you.

I’ve really starting to notice that democrats DO NOT have the mind to solve problems, they do alot of complaining and pointing fingers BUT they never have the solution to solve the problem When I talk to them they have their talking points and that is all ask them what they are going to do to solve the debt. It’s funny but sad.

PRAY they will be so MUCH FRAUD that the people vote will probably not even be considered. A judge over ruled Voter ID YET the Supreme Court HAS ruled it constitutional. I don’t know how they get away with that.

I hope he keeps his office and beats the Union Thugs.  He has turned their state around and continues to do so.  I think given time, he can do a lot for their state and be a model for others. The bullies from the union group is trying to get everyone’s money to buy votes, get legislation and special tax breaks while meeting with Obama and friends behind closed doors in the WH. What are they doing and planning behind those doors that they are keeping from the American People. Walking is being upfront and honest even though not everyone agrees with everything he is doing. It is working and they need to stop the unions attempt to stop making positive changes in that state.

Yeah… people, generally, are really this stupid.

People, generally, lack depth. The kind of depth of thought necessary to see the important things in life, as a whole, instead choosing to focus on the minutae(sp?), which they can grasp.

Pay close attention to the people around you, and how often they brush aside the complicated things, just sticking with the small concepts, unwilling to give thought to the effects.

Our current political system’s establishment, depends on this for their power.

Their biggest weapon they use to hold onto their power, and keep us from dealing with it, is their FUD campaigns, on both sides.

Yes… people really are this stupid. :(

If that’s the case then explain why Joseph of Arimathea he was not only rich but loaded up to his eye balls with money but yet the telwve followers of Christ themselves called him a disciple. Keep proving to me that you lied about going to church for eight years. It was him that gave his tomb to Christ so would you just stop with the B.S. He would have never supported what happen last night all it was violence Jesus was about love and the truth you guys are for getting something for nothing and demanding money that is not yours to begin with. So keep this lie going it just proves to everyone that not only that you never stepped into a Christian church but never even picked up the Bible.

I use the term liberal because it is more inclusive a term. Lot’s of liberals will see themselves as liberal but not sicialist because they don’t seem to be bright enough to get the clue. Laughter is the key with dealing with these liberals because they are too thin skinned on everything from economic beliefs to race and you name it. They do not mind you hating or being angry with them, on the contrary, they seem to enjoy it. But laugh at them and mock them and they go ape.

vacman: please show me the math. Specify exactly how a system of many people working to support an increasing number of nonworkers can be sustained. How long do you think the pyramid can work before it topples into poverty/anarchy (or is that the goal?) A thick rope with only a few strong threads will easily break. There will always be “rich” and “poor” so what? Make a nice life for yourself and your loved ones. You are not out looking for cholera -free water for your starving infant. Quick, tell the HUFFINGTON POST!  They wrote this on May 1:
Small donors giving less than $200 to Walker’s campaign, rather than large donors contributing more than $10,000, were the biggest drivers of out-of state donations. Of the total $5 million Walker received in contributions from these small-dollar donors, 70 percent — or $3.46 million — came from out-of-state donors, likely signifying the importance that grassroots Republicans nationwide are placing on Walker’s success.”

The rest of the article discusses other donors, like the Wisconsin GOP, and the head of Wisconsin based ABC Supply company. I hate to interrupt your liberal pipe dream with some facts, but congrats to Huffington for a flagrant act of journalism!

The unions of yesteryear are no longer. The original intent was good for humanity in general; What they have turned into now would make Stalin, Lenin and Marx very proud. They have become what gave rise to their creation. When a fruit is rotten with-in the bunch, if not removed, it will spoil the entire barrel.

Walker is a patriot, he sees the truth and acts upon it. The sheep, who’s worth consists of wool and meat, refuse to be whooled. Maybe they would prefer being slaughtered? UNIONS HAVE ALWAYS BENEFITTED ONE GROUP AT THE DISADVANTAGE OF ANOTHER.  Why does a volt cost about 40G? Virtually nobody buys it, so Government borows  the money to buy 4500 of them from the Chinese so everybody’s children can foot the bill for this incompetent blunder by an administration run by plain old goofballs. Our government has become an abject failure in the handling of our financial affairs, time for a change. The ONLY solution is Ron Paul and the judge, Politano, What a combination…..we would again lead the world, and let all the militants do each other in.

I live in Wisconsin, and I fully support our governor.  Gov. Walker is doing a great job.  The statement  “…millions upon millions of Wisconsin residents have signed petitions …” is not correct.  I don’t recall the number, but I believe it was like 105,000+, and yes the unions did get that using all kinds of dirty tactics.  I believe though that Gov. Walker will still win because most Wisconsinites know the truth and are not willing to be bought out.  We will see though.  My hopes and vote goes to Gov. Walker.

Penn Traffic, highly unionized, was a company that bought a local grocery chain, Big Bear. Had been in business since 1934. The President worked his way up from a bagboy.  They fired him.

Workers told me that when they bought Big Bear, non-union, they tried to force the employees to unionize; guys in expensive black suits showed up to attempt this. How that would work, I have no idea.

The employees voted down unionization, Penn Traffic loaded lots of debt onto Big Bear, shutting it down. But in 2010, Penn Traffic became defunct after 160 years. Yay unions!

Nothing wrong with republican values: Lex Rex is the Republican manner; law is  above the king. But since Democrats despise these ideas, they want a dictator, Rex Lex, the king is above the law. Congratulations, you’ve got one. Increasing taxes, devaluing our currency and driving up prices, attacking constitutional rights and freedoms, attacking those who don’t agree with him (Gibson guitar), telling churches who they can hire….  this is your preference?

One of the things going on in WI, my home state, and it has NOT been reported anywhere, especially in the so-called main-stream media was that the teachers belonging to unions, were given only one choice for health care. Well, when you only have one choice, what do you think happens when it comes to the cost of that product/service. Yes, it was rediculous, and it was costing school districts $$millions more in costs than what they should have been paying. Well, one of the things Gov. Walker did, was to open it up to competition, and now many school districts including the one that I grew up in, has a surplus due to this open competition brought about by Gov. Walker. That is what you are definitely NOT going to hear from anyone including the main-stream media and the unions because they are basically one and the same. One hand washing the other!
One has to be very careful when listening/dealing with both the unions, and the media. I have been a union member, the Teamsters, so I know what goes on, and to be fair, many times it is management that is the problem, and I can say that because I also have been on that side of the bargining table as well. But in this case, it is so blatantly pathetic what has been going on in this state, especially when it comes to the acadama sector regarding the unions that it down right a crime!

lmao, just make up any word you want, at least they tell the truth, at least they don’t edit their videos, and their audios to promote a socialist agenda. It wasn’t Fox News that was caught editing those things. If Fox lies, where are the successful lawsuits against them? Where are the stories about their lies, where are the fired people, for telling lies and editing audio and video….oh wait those people were just fired from ABC, and MSNBC…. keep drinking the kool-aid… Since Walker did what he did, the State now has money, the prostitutes are the Unions.

  • http://profiles.google.com/trixlette Mary Jones

Don’t listen to the media they just hype their point up in hopes the rest will get discouraged., thinking there is no chance to keep Governor Walker. Believe me, the REAL polls all support Gov Walker, and not the Unions. The unions are a thing of the past, and legal racketeering. They are on their way out. There was once a time and place for unions, they are no longer needed, due to laws we currently have, they are the dinosaurs of yesteryear. vancamn is just a disgruntled union man that just doesn’t get it.

Hostess and all other companies in Unionized states, all need to shut down, wait 6 months, and reorganize in Right to Work States. Thousands of Americans put back to work, saving so much money the price of their products will come down. It’s a win-win for everyone but the thugs.

I have always wondered, why is it, if Unions are suppose to be so darned good for the workers, why is it that they must FORCE them to pay dues, and it is not voluntary?

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_YV4FLPPSJEVBGMGS5MZCEJZQYE mike V

I’veworked both union and non-union construction. The union shops were great but it was the union bosses that gave us all the grief. Every employer was the enemy. Yeah those POs’s that paid us, the vacation pay and all the benefits. How dare they. Unions are legalized money laundering centers.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_YV4FLPPSJEVBGMGS5MZCEJZQYE mike V

What a great mis-use of members dues. Just think what this recall campagn money could have done for the State’s schools.

  • Anonymous

He’s getting his money from small donors like me, because we want to save the state of WI and eventually the country from overbearing union thugs and corrupt politicians. Unions promote mediocrity by protecting unproductive workers thereby preventing the productive worker from reaching their full potential pay. Businesses cannot fire unproductive union employees which hurts the bottomline which in turn affects all employees’ wages.

The unions are not fighting for their membership this time.  They are fighting to maintain big government against the voters who must pay for them.  The governor is fighting for the state and its people.  The unions are fighting for communism.  More than 25,000 people were imported to Wis to demonstrate and sway the vote when this started.  Who’s got the money for that?

Many years ago in Milwaukee, I was in the clothiers union.  It was obviously run by the mafia.  Big guys blocked each exit and our voters were completely ignored.  We were told what to vote for and then watched as the vote count came out totally differently than our raised hands shown.

Wisconsin votes on May 8th in a Recall Primary to set the ballot for the June 5 Recall election for Gov. Scott Walker.

Glenn Beck will be doing too little too late if he waits to feature the Unions’ underhanded tactics until  5:00pm CST (6:00pm EST) the very day of election on May 8th !

Newspapers and news reporters call the May 8th primary a “Democratic Primary”—implying no need for Republicans to come out and vote.   WRONG AND MISLEADING INFORMATION!

SCOTT WALKER has to WIN THE MAY 8 PRIMARY to be on the June 5th Ballot.
He is running against a last-minute so-called Republican Arthur Kohl-Riggs, a political activist who at 23 years old has no qualifying governing/political background experience, and was put on the ballot for the purpose misleading voters.

IF Walker supporters are under the impression that Walker will automatically be on the June 5 ballot and don’t turn out to vote May 8th,  it is altogether possible that the Unions can generate votes for Arthur Kohl-Riggs making him the Republican candidate June 5.

The Republican and the Democrat getting majority of votes go to June 5th.

So as I see it is this…the unions would rather have their cushy pensions at the expense of a state economy which is now in the black and hiring teachers again. To recall Governor Walker would mean to revert back to the BLOATED PENSION funding. Greed is an ugly thing. Despicable the way the union forced members to buy their insurance at such inflated prices with no bidding.

There was no reply option next to where you said, “Try to say something intelligent, please,” to S. Roberts.  I’m kind of waiting for you to do the same.  You don’t cite any sources, you don’t have any specific knowledge on any opinion that you adhere to, if you do, you in fact are doing an “intelligent” job of hiding it.
I live in Wisconsin, and I support Scott Walker.  Do you know the biggest reason why people want him recalled?  The right to work clause is at the crux of the argument.  Democrats say that Scott Walker is attempting to eliminate the unions.  That is a patent falsehood.  He is eliminating mandatory collective bargaining, what is that? That means you can be a public employee in Wisconsin without joining a union.  Pro choice you see? Something the left likes anyways.
What’s even more messed up about the greed of the unions is the following:  I am a Wisconsin resident, I pay the salaries of the public employees, the skyrocketing salaries.  Before Scott Walker came around I paid 100% of their insurance premiums too.
Now, Wisconsin public employees who opt of a union will have an average of $75 a week in union dues staying in their pockets.  That’s plenty of money to use to go out and buy private insurance!  But they don’t have to, they still have their government health plan!  But now they have to contribute 5% of their salary to their own health plan…JUST LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE!!
Pay attention if there are any Wisconsin public employees out there, I’ll pick up the other 95% of the tab, just for you!  You’re welcome!  Now stop crying, and I do stress NOW!

The union track record (all of them not just the teacher’s) demonstrates that greed and power are the prime movers.  That goes all the way back to “guilds”.  The most commonly used pressure strategy is to strike or to intimidate.  Sabotage is sometimes used as well…..right from the Alinsky playbook, the ideas of which probably came from the early guilds and unions.  They use the lies of “caring” for children, safety issues, and “doing what is right” in their self righteous campaigns that are really nothing more than pressure tactics to win more money, more concessions and more power of control.  And do they really care about their “workers”?  Not a whit.

RE   CALL WISCONSIN VOTERS – to recall or not to recall?
    Q.  Is there a link for volunteers to call Wisconsin voters & refer to what Gov. Walker has done for Wisconsin: 1) reduced property taxes by .4% in 2011, 2) moved Wisconsin up 21 points in 2 years to spot #20 as calculated by 2011 ANNUAL CEO SURVEY OF BEST STATES TO DO BUSINESS IN, 3) Saved Wisconsin taxpayers $1Billion by requiring government & union members to pay 5.8% of their Health Care pensions and 12.6% of their health care premiums, 4) Saved Milwaukee $19 million in Health Care costs w. flexible planning, 5) Avoided teacher layoffs and 6) balanced budgets with flexible savings here & there (saved Brown Deer School District $800,000 and prevented layoffs), 7) saved students at 52 schools across the state an average of $220 per student by introducing competitive bidding for health insurance instead of automatically using WEA TRUST plans, and 8) reduced Big Labor’s stranglehold over state and local taxpayers that previously was unchallenged year after year.  [ See WALL ST JOURNAL article 'WISCONSIN RECALL AMNESIA" by Moore on May 3, 2012].

Governor Walker tried to strong arm the public workers of Wisconsin to STFU and accept what he proposed with no input. If he called all the parties together and work out something acceptable to everyone that is not what he did. That is why he is going to be recalled, recalled that is if he is not indicted on misconducted charges prior to being elected Governor. And having our NJ Governor Christie come to WI to assist in his recall. It’s not going to happen Walker screwed up big time he is not alone Governors Christie, (R-NJ) Scott (R-FL) LePage (R-ME) Perry (R-TX) Brewer (R-AZ) have all attacked public workers, woman, voting rights.      If unions where the problem – they would have been the problem with Union Membership was higher. Instead as Union membership has slips over the decades yet we have a sudden plummet in the economy over the past few years. No correlation can possibly be drawn.

When/If a Union member does not want their dues to be used for political purposes – they simply write a letter to the Union and at the end of the year they get a refund. Turn around time is pretty reasonable. The remaining value of the dues is “fair share” for collective bargaining costs.

If a customer does not want the value of their patronage to be used for Republican political purposes – they can only boycott those companies who spend money on Republican Politics. No Republican donating company can matches the ethics of the Unions and refunds a customer a “fair share” to offset political activities – Mainly because it turns out they are just shell companies to funnel money to Republican candidates (Ron Johnson).

Unions have slipped in donations over the past several few years – so the stranglehold of control you fear has long ago been gone nearly a decade.

In Wisconsin Unions are about 39% of the state government jobs… again your fears are based on already slipping numbers.

People who negotiated good retirement benefits by earning less were mandated to pay more for retirement and locked out of wage increases. Application of the “fair share” doctrine to a portion of the benefits and not applying it to wages is grotesquely orchestrated far away from responsible. Unfortunately the slogan worked to sway the gullible and spiteful in the public to repeat the simplistic inaccurate message.

Under Temporary Wisconsin Governor Walker the Republicans suddenly marched in lockstep through a series of sweeping legislation indicating a clear unspoken plan unaffected by the diverse needs of their constituency. This devious lurch from public and opposition party input demonstrated unsuitability as a legislator by every Republican. There was so much BAD legislation passed effecting Unions, Tort Reform, Education, Public Utilities, Tax Burdens, Transportation, Finance, Insurance, Voting, and Renters by this group was premeditated, but not discussed with the voters.     This is why we recall.

What?????? The unions in Wi just received a “stimulus” package of MILLIONS of dollars…and they are using THAT MONEY…TAX PAYER’S dollars…to use against Walker??  I have HAD to belong to unions in the past, and I hate them with a purple passion!  They have fulfilled a purpose…but their purposes have now changed, and they have been destroying the nation for more the 50 years, with increasing rapidity.! EVERONE needs to get involved in Wi’s fight for freedom…FROM THE UNIONS.

The congress has recently passed laws (supposedly “rules” for the unions to “follow”) which gives the “member” the “RIGHT” to determine whether or not any part of “his” dues can be used politically (for politics) but that hasn’t slowed down the union’s use…and they are ALSO…receiving “stimulus” moneys!!!??
This administration has absolutely NO reserve as to how TAX PAYER’S MONEY IS USED!!  The unions helped to install most of this administration, and this administration is “paying them back”.

My son is a manager at a technical company.  Technicians at the company were approached by a union rep 4 years ago and began talking with the techs about unionizing the workforce.  The union rep was out of Alabama.  My son became involved talking with the techs explaining that should the union bid become successful, the network owning the company will just shut down in this state and move to another.  My son worked with company lawyers and his bosses and the techs.  When the dust settled, the union left with its tail between its legs; but first the Alabama union rep shook my son’s hand and said he fought a great fight and the union will never approach them again.  I’m proud of my son.

Not sure what exactly you are trying to say, but if you are attempting to claim innocence of unions in having any effect on politics, then I have 2 questions:

In I believe 2010 then- SEIU chief Andy Stern was the most frequent visitor to the White House. Why?

Also- the Head of the Teachers Union…in their annual get-together stated flat out that the purpose of the union had nothing to do with the welfare of children in the schools…it had to do with POWER.

    Isn’t that a problem?

Unions are having a lesser and lesser effect, regardless of the current quotes an actions Union power peaked over a decade ago and the Republican “harms” have no real correlation.

By attacking Unions as they weaken instead of letting them wither on the vine Temporary Governor Walker started a fight that roared when inactivity would have left them outgoing and whimpering.

The Kochs have bought America a resurgence of Union power that will take decades to fade.

I lived the proof. Our union defended 19 employees who would come to work late everyday. We would watch them break there machines and then sit on there buts till a maintenance man would come to fix it.  We the employees even complained to the union about what they were doing and we were told to mind our own business. When the company would move them to a new machine it would suddenly have major maintenance problems. This went on for years.

Our plant closed many years ago (1990) due to consistent over cost. That was the day I said no more unions and no more bums destroying my future.

4 of the bums still don’t work, on welfare, go figure. 3 are dead to drug overdoses, go figure, won’t be missed.

The unions suck and need to be demolished altogether. They have cost us more than any other orginazation ever created.

  • Anonymous

The Unions are just another layer of government anyway. They have to pay another tax and they have no choice. The dues are seized from their paychecks. The money is used to support a political party instead of helping the union member. I have spoken with many union members who feel their employer is out to get them so they need the union to protect them. I don’t now how long the Unions can present this false argument. I have never worked for a company with a union in my life. I have been sought after by companies, given great benefits, stock options, raises, bonuses, vacations, incentive trips, cars, and other perks, all without union involvement. I started out as an hourly worker and was promoted and given opportunities.
The Unions, on the other hand, force companies to caough up more of their earnings to fund dues payments, force companies to keep poor performing employees, and eventually kill the very company that is supporting the union members. Many large cities are like ghost towns due to Unions.  Cancer does the same thing as unions. Cancer kills the very body it needs to live on.

Our 20-year old son was thrilled when he discovered all the wonderful benefits that came with his first “real” job which just happens to be a union job.  Fast forward one-year and his anger is intensifying.  He’s a nursing student and works as a CNA in a nursing home.  He doesn’t mind the work.  What he does mind is co-workers who call in on weekends with an excuse why they can’t come in.  He minds co-workers not doing their jobs properly, leaving early, coming in late or sometimes just not showing up.  He minds co-workers who’s apathy is putting patients’ lives in jeopardy.  He minds putting in 3 16-hour days in a row while trying to keep up with course work because the facility is short-handed and management is as apathetic as many co-workers.  And he really minds that nothing can be done about any of these situations because it’s a union job.  He’s learning that being able to take several days off from work at a time after being on the job just a couple of months to visit his fiance’s family comes with a high price.  He’s learning calling in at the last minute because a friend he hasn’t seen in a few months is in town—and not worrying about consequences—comes with a high price.  He’s learning a lot. The rose colored glasses are coming off.

They cost who more ? The company & employer ? Tough if they offered there employers good wages, benefits and worker protections they may not need unions but as Woody Guthrie sand “I’m going Union”

  • Anonymous

Yes.  The company and employer.  The ones paying the wages.  The ones who go bankrupt and everyone loses their jobs.  The ones who should be able to fire worthless bums who can’t even come to work sober.  I would fire everyone and close my doors before I let a union in.   Collective bargaining is the antithesis of personal responsibility.

But I guess, if you don’t have what it takes to succeed — go union.

You are most definitely right on this. I worked a Teamster job for 6 years. There was a contract rules booklet with many agreements in it,and the only single thing in that little green book the company could not violate was the pay scale and the promised raises. Nothing but B.S paying those Teamsters just to send you Socialist propaganda and tell you they can’t do anything about the company constantly violating the signed Union contract.  Get rid of the thieving Unions that don’t even try to do there job of enforcing a simple contract.

I live here in Wisconsin, I believe the most evenly divided state in the union.  I live an hour south of the disputed birthplace of the Republican party,Ripon,Wisconsin.  1 hour west of the most liberal city in the U.S., Madison,Wisconsin.  1 hour north of Milwaukee,Wisconsin, where their most celebrated mayor was Frank Zeidler.  They announce him as a Socialist in the Milwaukee Journal and always have in my 49 years.  We are a heavy Unionized state and always have been.  We are the state of Joseph McCarthy, who knew about Communism from living in a place like this.  We are the home of General MacArthur.  We are the home of progressivism, but also the place where Teddy Roosevelt was shot.  We are the summer home of Al Capone and John Dillinger.  We are the “suburb” of Chicago.  We are ground zero for every bad thing that will happen in this nation in the coming months and years, and there will be alot.  Please pray for Scott Walker and our State in this coming month,as it will be very turbulent.  My family and I are not afraid and will not be bullied.  We stand with God,the truth, and Scott Walker!

Not sure what your experiences are Bill, but mine? Occasional worker with Teamsters, absolute laziest, greediest people I’ve worked with in 35yrs. Trade show workers? Add huge layers of cost, getting way overpaid for menial work, and manipulative (as a union). Government unions? That is self evident in the inefficiency, overpayed, greedy workers.

Some are just plain weird, pilot unions? Why? They’re just ripping themselves off! Same with plane mechanics, both would probably make more without the union. Or at least have more flexibility and freedom to excel.

Auto unions? Destroyed an industry with laziness, useless rules and manipulation.

Employers should offer wages and benefits that a worker will accept for work that the employer can accept.

Just to show you how corrupt unions have gotten, in Mi, there are unions that want those that take care of their own handicapped children in their own home to be forced to join the union so that they may have access to union dues from the disability checks.

Actually based on BLS statistics Wisconsin was one of four states (Alaska, Missouri, and Rhode Island were the others) to lose jobs last year.      As a Canadian I am watching how things go down – what is happening is really scary for your state and the country and I might add for Canada as well.  I think Scott Walker has done one of the finest jobs in turning things around – I don’t understand how the unions can gain so much power – unless that’s what the people want and if so GOD HELP YOU!!!   America is turning into a  socialist country right before  my eyes.  In British Columbia we too are having trouble with our government – dictatorship – rights are being taken away – they just do what they want.   Enough is enough and we are now standing up together as British Columbians – it is amazing what you can do when you DO stand together.    We overturned the HST (still waiting for that to be implemented) and now we are standing together against the Smart Meters (we call them the spy meters)  Anyway – GOOD FOR  YOU – I WISH YOU WELL AND I DO HOPE SCOTT WALKER WINS THE DAY FOR AMERICA’S SAKE – AND OURS TOO.

They cost EVERYBODY more. Sorry, but Unions are outdated. In today’s society we have the news casters hungry for any story that bashed “big business” we have trial lawyers looking to make a buck, we have the internet, and we have skilled workers who are able to choose what company they work for. There is literally no need for unions.

  • Anonymous

So true, not to mention the Big Wigs in Unions suck out all the money and they also use it to vote for the DEMS so even if you are a REP you vote coming from the Union goes Dem!!!  It sucks and they have to be knocked down.

  • Anonymous

vacmancan, I find it so insidious that you talk about Walker doing what you say he is doing to the people yet all the numbers support the fact that what he did worked. You spew all this hatred and use the language you use yet you can’t dispute the numbers. You talk about FOX brainwashing folks yet you can’t dispute the numbers. I think you are being brainwashed by your union. Been there and went round and round with the union over politics and helping people keep their jobs who were stealing from the company and were caught 3 times, while good hard working guys were sitting at home not working because of a merger that brought in boatlaods of lazy workers (from a company that was losing their buts financially because of these lazy workers) and they kept these jobs just because they had more seniority.

  • rbblum

But, it would be great if there would be a movement comprised of true patriots who would fight within the union for the interests of the competitive business model . . . severing all political interests and focus on economic interests (including eradicating over-regulation and excess overhead that includes management deadwood)

What a wonderful world this would be if employers gave such incredible wages and such benevolent benifits and protected us so well that we would want to stay at the company forever. Try rereading Genesis even if you think you know the story because from your comments I’m betting you don’t. No matter how good we have it in this life, we will always want to experience something new especially one that comes gift-wrapped in a box decorated with almost supernatural artistry. Only one problem – the price is your soul.

The unions time has come and gone. Yeah it was nessisary early in this contries history, but with all the regulations in place the union’s do more harm than good now. I was once part of the teamsters and have since takin a with drawl out. It’s my money why would i want to pay somebody else for my job, one that i was hired to do by the company not the union.

Scott Walker saved Wisconsin, and now the unions want him out. Proof of no good deed goes unpunished. He has my sympathy.

The major unions in the United States have enjoyed government favor, especially federal support, in their war on business for as long as I can remember.  Unions and government alike treat business as a cash cow for their own aggrandizement while spineless managers kowtow and contribute for temporary relief.  And the ability to write the rules so that their competitors cannot hope to displace them.

When royalty did it we called it ‘mercantilism’, now that professional politicians do it we call it ‘crony capitalism’ even though it amounts to the same thing – government sponsored monopoly.

    Walker is big business’s bitch.
He gave tax breaks to his big business donors and got caught when he tried to blame public service workers and their unions.
He deserves to suffer through a recall vote along with his highest ranking congressional puppets.
I won’t predict how many people will be ousted, but the mere fact that Walker and the Republican corruption reached this point says enough about Americans being fed up with the “let them eat cake” attitude from the Conservative party.

Amazingly, you never fail to be on the wrong side of things. What have you got, some kind of radar for the incorrect? Did you not read this in the story above?

“Governor Walker has literally turned around a dying state economy. He
took a state deficit in the billions and turned it into a surplus. He
turned the tide of jobs fleeing his state by creating one of the most
welcoming environments for small businesses in the country.”

We must keep up the fight, I am a fellow Wisconsinite, from the Madistan area (I have been to the capitol a few times during the madness).  My fiancee and I have visited the embroiled Republican’s offices (including Walker’s office) and given them a pat on the back for our fellow conservatives.  I have stood in the rotunda and sang “God Bless America” following the unionista’s “We will overcome”. Nothing excites me more than getting in the faces of the protesters. We are the majority, and if the unions want to spend gobs of money on a recall they are destined to lose, more power to them, they will only have less to spend when Obama visits (as he inevitably will on his college tour).  Wisconsin is ground zero, and the whole world is watching this. If they unions lose here, they lose BIG! I have never left off praying, I hope in the future Wisconsin will be know as the Great State of Walker!

  • The Wall

I noticed I have no obligation to answer questions that are irrelevant and derailing of the topic at hand.

  • The Wall

    Lost puppy syndrome.
Power is the goal of the Unions.
My factual representation is that Unions currently have less sway, and the economy has more problems. No one refuted that at all – ever and I;ve copied and pasted that a couple dozen times.

  • The Wall

Labor donated more in 2001 to candidates than in each of 2008, 2009 or 2010.

    In 2001-02 business out-donated labor 4 to 1.
    In 2005-06 business out-donated labor 7 to 1.
    In 2007-08 business out-donated labor 6 to 1.
    In 2009-10 business out-donated labor 6 to 1.

Why is political and economic woes blamed on the least significant player?

Because of a deliberate activity to sway public opinion against labor perpetrated by industry bent of abusing the rights of labor. This public disinformation campaign has cost them MILLIONS.

Your brain is conditioned to fall for these media campaigns too. Carefully massaged into a good receptor by all the big media campaigns beamed right into your living room and car.

So do I longlake.  I’m glad that I could read what a Canadian thinks of what is going on here in our country.  I, in  my mind, think it is because of 1 person, and that person was voted in , in 2008.  He’s a fake, we know it, the congress knows it,  we can do nothing BUT the congress could do a lot, and does not.  They sit on their duff and lets this bozo do what he wants.  have never seen the likes of it.  He should have been impeached, for many reasons, and the main one is NO AUTHENTIC BIRTH CERTIFICATE.  His female lawyer just said last week that his birth certificate is fake…..what does that tell us…..I too hope and pray for this country.  As you do yours, I love my country, I want my children and grandchildren to enjoy it and have a future.  Right now, they do NOT.  Scott Walker is a diamond of the best quality, I pray that the people of Wisconsin do him justice.

Ever wonder why a Hershey bar that used to cost a nickel now costs 50 cents to $1.00? Why we could buy a new car for $1,800.00?  Why so many things are no longer made in America?Thank the unions, the Fed, and all the liberal “improvements” to our world in the last 50 years. The effect of Unionism and liberalism are the same. They drive up the cost of every product made, by extorting more money for every widget produced.

A far greater part of each new dollar extorted ends up in the pockets of the unions than in the pockets of the “workers” they pretend to protect. The net effect for our nation is to stifle worker productivity.  Wonder why manufacturing workers are being replaced by machines that can’t join unions?

GPearl’s analogy of Unions as a cancer that kills the host is a good one, as is the analogy of a lamprey eal that attaches itself to a host fish, and over an extended period sucks it’s host dry and hollow.

More power to Scott Walker and his supporters. When we bust the spine of the Unions and return to Individual competition to produce more wealth, we will get back on the track of making our nation the most productive the most blessed the world has ever seen.
