I think that our military budget is far too high, I also think that we should give more tax dollars to schools. However if I want to live in a democracy I have to accept that I don’t make the personal decision of how my tax dollars are spent.

Democracy means that these compromises are forced on all of us. However, unless we want to live under a dictatorship then democracy is the best we have.

I am my own man, and am not tied to a 200 year-old document. Although politicians must work within the constitution, my opinions and ideas need not – so any arguments you make that point to the constitution I’m afraid I have to ignore.

I don’t see how my point about everyone paying to a scheme reducing costs – bears any relation to immigration. I am not talking about immigration, and I really fail to see any parallel.

I also did not say that taxes should be increased. The tax burden on the average family (the middle class) is much too high, whereas the taxes on high, and very high earners is much too low. I hope Obama increases taxes on those who can afford to pay. (Which is not me, and I guess not you either)

Also I’d like to point out that I never called Obama ‘wonderful’, all I am doing, is showing where Glenn is not being fair in his journalism’ – towards Obama. I have many complaints about Obama.

More taxes does not mean more poverty. When America was growing at its fastest, and unemployment was low under President Eisenhower (a Republican) the top rate of tax (over $400,000) was 92%. Some of the countries with the highest rates of income tax – like Norway (47% top rate) – have some of the lowest poverty levels. (Of course I am talking about top rate income taxes – middle class families like yours and mine are not affected.)

My car insurance analogy makes a lot of sense really. Whether it is right of wrong to be forced to pay legally in terms of medical care is another matter. But in terms of the mechanics of the insurance system – there is little difference between car insurance and medical insurance.

Your quote of  the “everyone doesn’t pay into the system we all pay more” has proven the point of illegal immigration.  Personally, I can’t afford to pay anymore taxes and I’m inches from the “middle class”, as dems put it.  And if you think we should all pay more taxes then why doesn’t your wonderful Obama do something about the Illegal Immigrants that continue to come into our country the improper way!??  I bet that would bring some much needed money “taxes”.  The more taxes we all have to pay, the more the poverty this country will incur!

Last but not least.  Car insurance is just an ignorant analogy.  We pay car insurance to protect our vehicles and injuries sometimes if we should be hurt, God forbid.  It is actually an option in some states not a law.  Which I believe should be an option all states.  It is yours and my right to make the choice to purchase a “product” and insurance, which is a product as well, in any shape or form.  I should not be forced or penalized because I don’t want to purchase either.  If something should happen, then that is on he/she…. whomever did not make the choice of buying that insurance or “PRODUCT.”
