@Tower, first, a lame duck sessions occurs when Congress meets after the president’s successor has been elected, but before the successor’s term begins. Second, I think that you’re referring to when Congress is in recess when the president gets stuff done with out them like appointing judges (recess appointment). However, there aren’t things “passed” while in recess. ”Pass” assumes that others voted on it, such as bills. What specifically are you referring to?

Sorry 2liberate, I meant to reply to guest, not you, for the question about the company. As for guest…name calling for a differing point of view, eh? Again, no evidence of my leanings, as I haven’t stated any leanings one way or another other than questions. My point in my postings is that we can’t even have a civil open discourse about ANYTHING here without name calling or innuendo. How can we even start without first realizing and respecting a differing view point. I cannot change anyone’s opinion, nor can anyone change my opinion. But maybe…just maybe…we both can be open minded enough to THINK about the other person’s point of view.

That depends. Single-payer systems may contract for healthcare services from private organizations (as is the case in Canada) or may own and employ healthcare resources and personnel (as is the case in the UK). The term “single-payer” thus only describes the funding mechanism—referring to health care financed by a single public body from a single fund—and does not specify the type of delivery, or for whom doctors work. Although the fund holder is usually the state, some forms of single-payer use a mixed public-private system.
