Glenn Beck knows nothing about bakeries, and even much less about unions that work with the businesses. Union bakeries are instrumental in providing bakery goods from centralized baking center's across the US, and North America. Yes, they make a good wage, benefits and a retirement program, but the work isn't easy either. It involves heavy lifting, very hot ovens, and it it is done in bakeries where every square foot is utilized. This can make it a difficult place to work in for a baker. The people who deliver these products are Teamsters Union member's who place these products in the grocery stores that you and me shop at every week. Glen Beck knows absolutely nothing about the business, but continues to spout the Right to Work doctrine, which is nothing short of legalizing slavery in most states. Not many former union employee's, who have been forced out of unions, ever enjoy decent working conditions, fair pay and benefits, and retirement in Right To Work conditions. Yes, you don't pay union dues, in Right To Work states, but you don't get any representation either. Glen Beck never speaks to the difficulty in feeding a family, buying clothes for the family, or owning a home. But he doesn't mind being a shill for the Right To work people who are only interested in making themselves much richer than they already are. Stuff another Twinkie in your mouth Glenn, because we have always known that you were cream filled.

Actually, no - their benefits will be paid by more money borrowed from China. And maybe THAT is the Union goal - to strengthen China, so they can point to a Communist country as a "success" and"model for our future" (while ignoring that China's success depends on exploiting captive, virtual slave citizens in order to participate in OUR Capitalist economy.)

I can't "Like" your comment, because I sympathize with your situation. I was non-union engineering staff at FirstEnergy, and I was laid off with about 350 others back in 2009 as (I sincerely believe) part of a negotiating strategy with the Utilities Commission. FE wanted to underscore the point that they don't "produce" energy - in order to generate electricity, they must buy and burn fuel - and with fuel prices rapidly increasing, they could not continue to sell electricity at rates defined in the last century without cutting their workforce. As disappointed as I was at being laid off, I recognize the basic truth of their point.

Losing a job always sucks, and I wish you the best.

What's done is done - what matters is what's next.
For me, what's next is evaluating the profit potential of starting up a small business in the packaged snack food industry. For the snack food industry, what's next is Frito-Lay...

It would be ran more efficiently were it nationalized? That is a load of TOTAL BS. NOTHING that is nationalized is run efficiently at all. It would run more efficiently if you let the market actually DO ITS THING, lol.

You may not like greed, but greed drives a SUCCESSFUL economy. Without a bit of greed, our economy would falter and fail.

I wouldn't want to reward bad business owners with aid and Keynesian tactics either, especially the Keynesian tactics lol. However, an 8% pay cut is NOT exactly a decision made by a BAD business owner who runs off the PROFIT motive like nearly every other business out there. You think you've seen the last of it? Not by a long shot. When government regulations, especially Obamacare, fully kick in, you will be seeing more and more businesses requesting similar and even greater pay cuts to their employees as well. The Unions will then step in again to put those companies out of business, as well. Sometimes, a pay cut is a SMART move by a company when we have bad regulations like Obamacare making EVERYTHING more expensive for them. You see, this is Obama's economy. Man, do I miss Bush's, lol. Bush was a terrible spender, to be sure, but at least he didn't put so much stress on the actual job creators. Keynesian tactics will NOT work. When you force businesses to pay more, which is what Obama's Keynesian tactics will end up doing in the long run, those businesses will have to cut their employees wages, whether they fire employees outright or just cut the wages across the board, or they will have to raise prices for their goods and services to make up for the lost income. Neither option is really what they want to do, but it's what they're forced to do because of Obama's Obamaconomy.
