There is no righteousness in mere poverty just as there is no evil in just being wealthy. In all cases it is what you do with it. If I have a business that employs 150 people and I gut it out and take all the money and give it to the poor, I can feed some people for a season with no long term improvement in their lot. All I will have done is to reduce myself to poverty and send 150 people to the unemployment line, if those jobs get shipped out.
