It has always amused me how they call themselves progressives, and yet continue to do things in such outdated ways. Unions, for instance, in their current form, are part of the problem. They do not embrace progress at all. They expect things to remain the same, to be done as they were 100 years ago. Yet change is required for companies, and communities, to continue to thrive. We can't keep thinking in an industrial mentality when the country has slowly shifted away from it. The leadership in Detroit should have planned years ago for a shift in the auto industry, and created an environment where other industries could get started, and begin to grow. The progressive mindset does not think that way...it's job security or bust.

Don't make it sound like it's the fault of Conservatives like Glenn, Bill, Rush or Sean. They didn't make this armpit of a city fall into this condition. Start with the unions who outpriced labor to the point of pushing companies out of Detroit or into bankruptcy, and then start blaming liberals who make welfare, food stamps, and the like so enticing to lazy arse people. Glenn, Bill, Rush and Sean WORK for a living. There is nothing wrong with making a profit or even a fortune if you do it legally and don't hurt others - check the Bible - the key is how you HELP OTHERS with it and all these gentlemen do that. Check their records on their personal giving. Check your illustrious president and VP to see how they help others..... Obama gave about 3,000 last year to charity and Biden, that cheap skate, gave about 300.00! Why don't you have those two and their cronies put their money where their mouth is instead of blaming everyone else and using taxpayer money to fix the problems THEY CREATED!!

Unfortunately, those who used to live in Detroit have been moving south into Toledo, Ohio. It's really sad. No one can live in Detoit anymore.

I moved out of Detroit only two years ago, if you want to get to the biggest downfall, investigate mayor Coleman Young, he started the fastest "white flight" from Detroit when he told the white people to "hit 8 mile" {the detroit boarder} he was race baiting before it was popular

I grew up in the 1950's and 1960's in a town just outside of Detroit. When the blacks tried to burn it down in 1967, many white people moved out of both towns. I graduated from high school that year and left for college in another state. I returned five years later and my little town looked like it belonged in a third world country. All of the stores had bars on their windows and doors and the streets were filled with trash. I never went back to my hometown after that and with these pictures of Detroit, it sure has gotten much worse.

Over a year ago an Email circulated showing Hiroshima 'then and now' alongside Detroit 'then and now'. Remember, how sad, you are so true.

This is so sad to look at. This was my hometown and I was always proud of it. How can the local government allow this to go on? Bull doze the things that are falling down and invest in building - invest in the people.
