Actually, many Christians do celebrate Hanukkah because of its ties to early Christianity. Just that some celebrate it in a different fashion than Jews do, and others celebrate it side by side with Jews. Now, even though most mainstream Christians don’t really celebrate Hanukkah as they should, it’s ties to early Christians and the birth of Christianity make it extremely important for both Jews and Christians to follow. It’s a lot like the Passover in that respect.
