WWII veterans.  My father and his brothers had served in WWII, my dad with the Army COE in Burma, on "the road", the oldest uncle, with Patton in Africa, Italy and Europe, the youngest uncle, on a B-17 crew over Europe as a waist gunner.  Doesn't get any better than that.  I have an old M-1 bolt action 30-06 that my dad brought back and I use for hunting.  Kicks like a mule but it brings em' down with one shot.  My 6 mm Remington HP rifle is used for smaller varments, and my 38 special S&W and 45 Colt semi auto are used for protecting my family and friends.  In Texas, we are well armed and proud of it. I am a expert shooter with revolvers, semi-autos,rifles,and shot guns. If you are taught the correct way to handle a weapon and its uses and treat them with respect as you would any tool (which is what they are ,a tool) a person would be ok with handling guns. But in the case of the of the shooter at Sandy shooting it sounds to me as though the mom (not trained herself ) was trying with the best of her ability to educate her son with guns knowing he had a mental history. This is where she failed . It is like letting a drunk drive a car. DO WE TAKE AWAY OR BAN THE CAR? NO WE PUT THE DRUNK IN JAIL OR REVOKE HIS DRIVING PRIVLEGES.
