Everyone knows the Media is out to discredit, and try to make fools of the Republican Party, they are liars, bullies, and hecklers. Marco Rubio shold pull a Nelson Rockefeller on them by having a picture taken of himself, giving the thrird finger salute, with the statement "Here's to the liberal media" and post it on twitter.( Nelson did this to a group of hecklers in Binghamton N.Y., he was the Governor of N.Y,giving a college speech, when some hippies started to heckle him) It made the front page of the Binghamton Press newspaper, everyone loved it.

The way I see it, the fact that he got a glass of water as he did, proves what he said in the beginning. He is just a regular guy who has lived in the same neighborhood, and just finished paying off his student loans. He is a regular Joe.
What was important to me is that he made a strong contrast between Obama's belief that government is needed to solve all our problems and what most of us know in our gut that we need the government out of our lives as much as possible. If people failed to see this contrast then we got a lot more to worry about than him getting a drink of water in the middle of his speech.
In my opinion, the reason the lame media focused on the glass of water is that they can ignore the message and give the sheep that watch them something to bah about.
I do agree that this young senator who was rejected by the republican leadership during the primary election is going to be wined and dined by these same criminals. Due to his youth, there may be chance he may fall pray to their corruption.

Really, Glenn? You are buying into the liberal media "let's distract the masses from the content of Rubio's speech" and helping to ignore the content of what he said?
Who's side are you on? Why would you make a big deal about this water bottle thing? No wonder the conservatives can't get ahead. The top commentators are shooting the good guys.

How about we minimize the "gaffe" to, say, "No big deal...did you hear what he said?"

I am an Obama-supporting liberal (for the record) and I couldn't care less about Rubio's awkward water-bottle moment. (While we're on the topic, though: why do all of you people drink from disposable water bottles all the time!? Have people forgotten how to use a cup?) I find it very annoying that so many are so shallow-minded as to focus on this trivia while they ignore the substance of Rubio's speech.

Because the substance was awful, and if it's a representation of GOP post-election thinking, then it's no wonder the nation is leaving the party behind. The water was distracting, but the moment which jumped out at me most during the speech was when Rubio dismissed concerns about climate change with the non-sequitur "Government can't control the weather".

Seriously -- as Barack Obama memorably put it once -- It's as if they are proud of being ignorant.

The astonishing ignorance, superficiality, and childishness in Rubio's statement perfectly capture the reasons why the GOP lost in 2012, and why they apparently had no idea they were going to lose until the very last moment. And this was no off-the-cuff remark, it was a scripted line in a very high-profile speech! It's no wonder that younger voters in particular are avoiding the GOP like the plague, as they face the prospect of their futures being diminished by catastrophic climate shifts while one of the 2 major US parties blithely denies reality. Fine. If you guys want to keep it up, I for one will not lament your increasing irrelevance. As Obama might say -- Please proceed, Republicans!
