Rep. Sean Duffy schools MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell on Obamacare

Yesterday on MSNBC, an ‘interview’ between Andrea Mitchell and Congressman Sean Duffy (R-WI) quickly devolved into a tense exchange over the effects of the government shutdown and the media coverage of Obamacare, which left Mitchell, who was clearly unable to follow Rep. Duffy’s logical argument, speechless.

Get Glenn Live! On TheBlaze TV

“So in case you don’t know, Andrea Mitchell is Mrs. Alan Greenspan, so she’s Mrs. Federal Reserve on big-government-propaganda MSNBC talking about the shutdown and healthcare,” Glenn said on radio this morning.

Just a few minutes into the discussion, Mitchell attempted to hammer home the argument that Republicans are the ones holding up the debate by not being willing to negotiate, a claim Rep. Duffy quickly denied.

MITCHELL: That’s a nonnegotiable demand. Why not sit down and negotiate over entitlement reform, which is something you have been demanding? You are putting on the table a nonnegotiable demand.

REP. DUFFY: Is it not negotiable that he’s not going to enter Obamacar? He’s going to say I get my gold-plated healthcare plan, but I want members of Congress and rest of America to be on Obamacare. That’s not negotiable? Come on. That’s not reasonable. One issue we have, the media won’t ask why are you treating families different than big families. You need John Stewart on Comedy Central to ask Secretary Sebelius why don’t you treat these two equally, and she can’t answer it. That’s how pathetic I think news reporting has become when you won’t ask tough questions to the Administration.

MITCHELL: We ask questions to both sides. That’s not fair…

“Yeah, do a search,” Pat said. “We did a Nexus search on that. No, no you haven’t asked the question. At all. Ever. Andrea.”

But it was what happened next that left Andrea momentarily speechless.

“Just stick to the talking point,” Pat said disgusted.

“Can you defend the thing I just asked you,” Stu asked . “No, I can’t defend talking point. How bad is that?”

“And you know what the headline was this morning in the Washington Post ‘Congressman Sean Duffy gets caught in his own Obamacare spin.’ They are spinning it as if she won the discussion,” Pat said. “It was not even close. She was destroyed in this. She had nowhere to go.”

Nut job Duffy knows perfectly well he and the  35  right wing billionaire puppets in The House, do not have the legitimate votes to overturn a mandate that was passed over three years ago, so they go on talk shows and lie about the congress not being on the exchanges and literally take the government hostage to get what they want or else! They are dragging out and offering the release of the hostages one at a time, piecemeal, when the could just release it all with a vote on the floor. This tyrannical minority threatens the acceptable legislative process of majority vote, which undermines every law, every time a extremist minority doesn’t like something, it undermines our entire system of representation.

I’d even slam her at the start of the segment where she purposefully and singularly hits on the payments to family survivors of our military lost in combat, baits Duffy into that discussion, then (at 1:02 time) says, “I mean the larger point is, Congressman, these mini CRs…”. She is using the deaths of our military to pull the sympathy card and then attempts to infer blame on Duffy for using the deaths to distract from the larger point of the shutdown??? Bait and switch b!tch!! I’m glad Duffy pounded her into the sands of the ever shifting PMSNBC “bumps in the road” diatribe!!!!!!!!!

The House of Representatives were elected by the people just like Obama was and they are doing what the people want them to do. $17,000,000,000,000 (trillion dollars) in debt and 1/3 of it was spent by Obama in 4 years.

Keep up the good work Duffy.  Save our greatgrandchildren from bankruptcy, don’t give in.

Yeah, a “mandate” that was crammed down America’s throat without a single Republican vote. Not one! Some mandate Jimmie. And now that it has passed and “we can see what is in it”, We The People overwhelmingly do not want it.

  • Jaamoose

Andrea Mitchell has been, and still is, one of the most respected and trusted names in journalism, far removed from the pedantic travesties of someone like Beck. Being at a momentary loss of words when confronted with contorted teabagger logic is something all thinking persons feel.

  • Jaamoose

Well put! The baggers are nothing more than ranting loons, and deserve zero respect. That they would slander such a fine journalist as Andrea Mitchell on this site only shows their lack of knowledge.

Oh, and one more thing Jimmy. The Founding Fathers created the House of Representatives to be the closest to the people. Not the President, not the Senate. Because the House is closest to the people The Constitution gives it the power over the people’s purse. So the House is doing EXACTLY what they are supposed to do as it is clear the overwhelming majority of We The People do not want Obamacare implemented. It is the Marxist President and his fellow Marxist in the Senate that are trying to usurp The Constitution. The House is We The People’s last line of defense. They have every right under The Constitution to withhold funds for whatever they decide is harmful to the people and unconstitutional, regardless of what the coward John Roberts thinks. You need to spend a little more time studying our history my friend.

This was touched on very briefly in this clip, but someone needs to dive deeper into the part where the Obama Administration has found a way for members of Congress and their staff are still able to get employer subsidies to help pay for their Obamacare health plans that by law they must participate in.  Why is this an issue you ask?  Because with the September 13th joint release between the DOL, IRS and HHS, 2013-03 they have shut the door on any way that employers can do what Congress is doing.  This release specifically says that stand alone defined contribution strategies do not integrate with individual health markets.  Congress is providing defined contributions to it’s employees.  How is this possible?  What legal tax vehicle is Congress using to accomplish this?  Why can Congress do this when all other employers in America can not?

Did you even watch the clip?  Contorted teabagger logic?  How do you justify such a label?  Are you then, unable to justify Obama and his family retaining their coverage and not participating in the exchanges as Congress is required to do by law?

  • Tim Sipma

Who needs votes to delay the mandate?  Obama did that with the employer mandate without congressional involvement.  I dare you to justify Obama delaying the mandate for big business, but refuses to do so for the individual.

Beginning of the end?  Where have you been?  We are in the final days of the end times referred to as the great tribulation in Daniel 12:1 and Matthew 24:21-22 and no one’s talking about it.   2 Thessalonians 2:10-12 explains why not.  YHWH has sent a strong delusion on those who have repeatedly rejected the truth, so that they will believe the lies and so be condemned to hell for delighting in wickedness.

It is true that socialized heath care is part of the globalist program to enslave all the rest of us and move us toward their vision for their New World Order: hell on earth.  But this evil agenda has been at work for centuries.  What’s different now is that the Satan-worshipping vipers are now coming out of their snake pits and into the open.

The solution?  It is not going to be of mankind.  It is coming in late 2016 with the second coming of Yahushua (Jesus).  We entered the great tribulation on March 22, 2013.  It is prophesied to last 1,335 days.  Do the math: by November 16, 2016, it will be all over.

True, that the media should start doing it’s job but…..which one?
CNN? MSNBC? ABC? CBS? FOX? Which one? Now, you can look and watch anyone of these and while doing so, they may look like they’re doing their job but just look at their every expression on their faces and you can tell that they really don’t give a damn about their jobs. They act like that they’ve got two jobs: one, their jobs as anchormen/anchorwomen and the second, saying and doing what they were paid by all left to say and do. They are all hotwired to run on a different oil than most. If I were to classify or give a name to that oil, it’d have to be peanut oil because that’s the kind that gives you all kinds of stomach aches. Gives you constipation, uncontrollable gas from hell, the craps, diarrhea, indigestion and sometimes, a flaring of hemorrhoids. That might be too graphic for everybody but, word to the wise: before going on any of their shows and it doesn’t matter who’s hosting it, you better take you a Tums before you go on. If it were me, I’d rather go on either show with a serious case of the farts and craps so those sounds will be answers to their stinky questions and I would say to them, “sorry, I get the craps every time someone gets politically stupid.”

It’s simply amazing to me, just how WELL this strategy
works! Like every good hustle though, I think it continues to work, despite its
nefarious reputation, not because of human IGNORANCE, but rather because of
human NATURE. What I’m talking about here is the strategy that the President is
    employing with regard to Obamacare.

Now, I’ll just simply say that everyone, as in BOTH sides,
obviously has a strategy, but for the sake of this discussion, I’m talking
specifically about the President’s strategy. It goes something like this: It’s
Saturday morning, and the pantry is nearly out of food. The family car is
getting old, and needs to be fixed or maybe even replaced. Dad has had his eye
on a shiny new SUV for months now, and finally has a reason to go out and buy
it. Times are tough though, and Mom has her eye on a minivan on the used car
lot. As the two argue seemingly endlessly over buying the car that is within
their budget and suits their needs now, or buying the thing they really like,
but which they can’t really afford, Dad announced to the kids, “Kids… There won’t
be any food today… or tomorrow… or the rest of the week, because your Mom doesn’t
care about you enough to fix the car and she won’t let me buy a new one.”

Of course the kids, not really grasping the larger picture
of family economics, and who really are closest to their OWN needs, the need to
eat in this case, really start to find themselves aligned with Dad. Not because
they really agree with his platform (they couldn’t care less if they have a
minivan or the SUV, as long as they have food to eat), but rather simply
because he has found a way to align what is in their best interests alongside
of what he WANTS. He then artfully conceals his “want” as a “need”, and
suddenly Mom, his opposition, is the bad guy, at least in the eyes of the
onlookers, the kids. Even if Mom really tries to defend her position, by trying
to teach the kids about the economic principles that underlie her position, all
Dad has to do is keep reminding them about how hungry they are, and how
uncooperative, insensitive, and unyielding Mom is—He doesn’t have defend his position, because the kids will
do it for him! Come on Mom! Just let us EAT for Heaven’s sake!

This is what politicians do a lot of the time; NONE of them
are totally alien to it. But today, the President is playing the card VERY
well. It’s not that he doesn’t want the things he’s willing to “negotiate”
over, but their relative value with respect to Obamacare is small. He’s willing
to use them as pawns to keep what he really wants. He knows that once the
government opens back up, that the people-at-large will be far less connected
to the whole discussion, and he can go back to business as usual.

The one who “wins” in this whole thing, if one can even
clearly identify a true “winner” is simply the one who can hold out the
longest. The real loser is the same, regardless: The American people. In the
end, deciding which side to stand on as the “right” side comes down to a
question of personal and moral ethics, and what you, personally think is the
larger concern. Maybe Obama really IS smarter than all the rest of us; Maybe he
really IS the “messiah” of America. Obama was elected President, twice, by the
majority of the American people, but it would be fallacious indeed to accept
that fact as evidence without contest of the American people’s endorsement of
Obamacare. Maybe socialism and a single-payer healthcare system really ARE what
is best for America, but as of today, this is still a free country, and America
has not voted nor otherwise clearly voiced its desire for such things. So, no
matter how smart Obama is, and no matter how right he may be, he has neither
the right nor the prerogative as President of the United States to force his
will, politically or otherwise, upon the people. This is not “tea bagger logic”,
and it’s something we ALL need to agree upon. Otherwise, we’re just a big,
juicy steak for the politicians to cut up and eat any way they want. In the
end, one side may get more than the other, but WE THE PEOPLE will all be eaten,
regardless. Those of you reading these blogs would do well to remember that.

So, no

obama gave health care subsidies to congress and their staffs to win their confidence and their votes on upcoming issues. Have we forgotten the bribery that took place as the ACA was making it’s way through congress in 2010. obama thinks everyone is like him or at least that everyone has their price. In DC Bribery works. It’s a proven fact. obama has a lot of nerve calling anyone an extortionist, unless he happens to be looking into a mirror at the time.
The resulting shutdown could instead have been defunding of the ACA if obama didn’t grease the right palms. He knew it and gave it up without a fight. 72% for congress 0% for the people….Sounds about right to me….

First she says, this is about the bigger issue of government not working, then when she is losing the debate she says, this about the death benefits – what a hypocrite. Thank you Sean Duffy for exposing her.

Andrea can defend Obama exempted from his plan.  He is now a member of the “elite” and has very special privileges.

Andrea Mitchell has always been a joke.   I’ve refused to listen to anything she’s on for many years, except when I want to hear someone else.
She is a shill and I would never believe a word out of that big mouth on her little face.

That was so true and good, you had to say it twice.
    good for you

HA! HA! Love it!!! Andrea got burned! What a huge, HUGE fail. Wonder how McNobody, and Vacant are going to spin this one, you don’t see their big fingers flapping on here do you? They’ll probably as usual resort to 3rd grade insults which they normally do when they can’t defend their twisted and stupid world view.

Here is something the Left seems to forget when they call us “Teabaggers”. For there to be a teabagger, there must be a teabagee. Well, Libs, seems that you are on the receiving end of our teabagging.

Nice try but not true. She is only respected by the same lame stream media, academia and left wing politicos that promote their spin. Wake up! This Nation is and we are sick of the brainwashing that is still being attempted by these individuals. THE TRUTH is staring them in the face and they refuse to admit it.

Every House of Representative member, Senate member, and the
Presidents’ going back to  1963, should be impeached and
tried for treason  because they put the American people in
all of this debt $17 trillion dollars.  They had no right to borrow
all of the money from other countries and some big businesses
here to pay for a life style for themselves first and then to all
of those people who refuse to work when they are able-bodied.
They have stolen all of the money from Social Security to pay
for what they haven’t borrowed.  Our children, grandchildren, and
great-grandchildren and on into infinity, will have to pay for this
debt.  They will not have the life that so many Americans have or
had.  You must tell the young people starting at an early age
what is happening so when they get old enough they can add
their voices against the government’s treasones acts.

It is much easier for individuals to sign up than for businesses with 50+ employees to get it together to get on board. It’s that simple, and no, Congressmen, corporations are not equal to individuals under the law.

This is not “reasonable,” this stall tactic is meant to undermine the law. These reactionaries need to be charged with sedition:

Could a monitor be appointed to dismiss the class-less participants who are obsessed with using crude and meaningless four letter words referencing human genitals and procreation?
When I was in the first grade I noticed that some deviant had carved on the bathroom walls most of the four letter words being called adult language by some societal committee.
I wonder if some of the contributors to ”Comments” might have been a year or two older than me and went to my grade school? If so, I am saddened that they never progressed into mature thoughtful adulthood and their ability to express their thoughts have never reached a level of common decency.
Seriously, I don’t mind thoughtful differences of opinion but to debase my intellect with the immature language of the gutter is debilitating to the senses and has no place in being mingled with the important topics that are being discussed by the vast majority of the more thoughtful participants.
If a rule were decreed from on high from someone higher up the ladder than myself, like Glen Beck himself, encouraging more intellectually respectful language among participants we could all benefit.  All that would be needed would be for “the monitor” to remove from the “Comments” section any contribution of a writer that used such debasing type language.
It wouldn’t take long for people to learn that in order to participate in these pages there would need to be a certain standard of civility in the use of language.

If they are a minority, then there shouldn’t be any problem in getting things passed. I think it’s funny that so many people want to blame the whole thing on the likes of Ted Cruz and less than a handful of other Republicans. Really? The freshman Senator has that much power? Is he the only one showing up to vote? And just because a law has been passed does not mean that it MUST be funded. When a law is a bad law, it shouldn’t be funded or implemented…..it should be corrected or discarded. And, it’s funny that you think only the Republicans are backed by big money, because none of the democrats are wealthy or backed by wealthy people or business…..you are FUNNY!!!

  • Anonymous

The House Speaker, Boehner, won’t bring it up for a vote, so to answer your question, yes that minority of extremest Republicans do have that power, just like a bank robber holding hostages. The don’t have the power of a majority vote in Congress, thus they are using extortion to get what they want because they can’t get it otherwise.

they lose an argument like this, and then go right back to start with their accusations and BS with the next interview…they have no ethics, no morals, and no responsibility to show for anything.
