Group of Arizona Republicans to vote to censure Senator John McCain

A group of Arizona Republicans is set to vote this coming weekend on whether to censure Senator John McCain (R-AZ). The Maricopa County GOP’s frustration with the Senator stems from his “long and terrible record of drafting, co-sponsoring and voting for legislation best associated with liberal Democrats.”

Get Glenn Live! On TheBlaze TV

“Yes, there is hope today,” Glenn said on radio this morning. “Try this out for size. [This is] going to be voted on by the Maricopa GOP leadership.”

Below is the full text of the censure resolution as published by IC Arizona:

Senator John McCain Censured by Arizona’s Republican Leadership

As leaders in the Republican Party, we are obligated to fully support our Party, platform, and its candidates. Only in times of great crisis or betrayal is it necessary to publicly censure our leaders. Today we are faced with both. For too long we have waited, hoping Senator McCain would return to our Party’s values on his own. That has not happened. So with sadness and humility we rise and declare:

Whereas Senator McCain has amassed a long and terrible record of drafting, co-sponsoring and voting for legislation best associated with liberal Democrats, such as Amnesty, funding for ObamaCare, the debt ceiling, assaults on the Constitution and 2nd amendment, and has continued to support liberal nominees;

Whereas this record has been disastrous and harmful to Arizona and the United States; and,

Whereas Senator McCain has campaigned as a conservative and made promises during his re-election campaigns, such as the needed and welcomed promise to secure our borders and finish the border fence, only to quickly flip-flop on those promises; and

Whereas McCain has abandoned our core values and has been eerily silent against Liberals, yet publicly reprimands Conservatives in his own Party, therefore

BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that the Maricopa County Republican leadership censures Senator McCain for his continued disservice to our State and Nation, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that until he consistently champions our Party’s Platform and values, we, the Republican leadership in Arizona will no longer support, campaign for or endorse John McCain as our U.S. Senator.

“Wouldn’t that be nice if that would pass,” Glenn asked. “That is what needs to be done, I think, on all of them.”

I live in AZ and I saw right through McCain in 2008 – unfortunately the only other candidate to vote for was Barry Obama – some choice huh! I personally know not to believe a word he says. He is as two faced liar as all the other RINO’s in office. I’m a Tea-Party member and proud of it. If amnesty goes through, AZ (and other bordering states) are going to be in a lot of trouble. McCain is to be as trusted as Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Soros, Joe Biden, Eric Holder, etc. It is really hard to trust any candidate anymore. Glenn Beck for President – or at least V.P.; maybe Ted Cruz for President.

Amen! and Amen! Sorry John, but you have to go!

Not sure I would call him a traitor. He is just not a Conservative or one for the people anymore.

Sad thing is, I don’t think McCain used to be like this.
I think at one time he stood for something real, and was willing to sacrifice for that cause. And I don’t just mean the defense of our nation; obviously he sacrificed a great deal for that.

But somewhere along the way, he was infected with the disease of political careerism, the sickness that leads so many in elected office to desire above all else re-election and political longevity.

McCain was on the Forrestal and his plane, an A-4 fighter jet, was destroyed by the blast from the Zuni rocket that accidentally fired He climbed down from his plane and just barely escaped with his life. Was there something that McCain did that was not right? Was he supposed to die in his plane for some reason? Unless you have proof that McCain did something to put his fellow sailors in danger, then I think you are slandering the man for no reason.

I believe Americans are dead because McCain talked. . . IMO, he is a traitor. . .IMO, he sold information to Charles Keating. . …IMO, he should be tried for treason and shot. . .

  • Catherine Bird

Problem is, most of the national GOP leadership is more in line with John McCain and the Progressive Democrat/Communists than they are with what used to be the Republican Party. I spent 10 years writing letters imploring the RNC to return to the original core values of the Republican Platform; all to no avail.

I finally left the Party in January 2013, and I will never go back. That Party will only support liberal progressives for national elections. That’s why Conservatives never have anyone to vote for, but can only vote AGAINST the ‘more evil’ candidate.

But, if we all leave the Republican Party for a real conservative party, then the Repub Party might die off, and good riddence! I joined the Constitution Party because I did not want to merely be listed on the voter rolls as “unafilliated,” which would garner lots of appeals from every Party for my vote.

It was bad enough back in 2012, when the Democratic Party kept calling me, trying to get me to vote for their candidate simply because I’m a woman! What losers. They called 4 times in one month. I actually started introducing some of them to Jesus. They’re so easily distracted. LOL!

People who do not have an alternative news source for information and rely on the talking points of the main stream media decide the outcome of elections. Americans are finding a government dominated welfare and surveillance society acceptable when package and presented in the right way. We let the socialist take control over the public schools and it has been going on a long time. The youth will decide the outcome of elections more and more as time goes by and right now that is not looking too good.

When someone has a record of having “amassed a long and terrible record of drafting, co-sponsoring and voting for legislation best associated with liberal Democrats, such as Amnesty, funding for ObamaCare, the debt ceiling, assaults on the Constitution and 2nd amendment, and has continued to support liberal nominees;” it is treason. Our basic freedoms are at stake right now. We have become a government dominated welfare and surveillance society where excessive rules and regulations have become Public Policy and have priority over the Constitution turning rights into government regulated privileges.

And so this builds a case to eliminate the two party system that divides so sharply our government and elect individuals on their own merit.

  • Steve Gordon

Make the limit six years in the House then eligible for two terms in the Senate. Only thing left is appointment or President or Vice-President.

  • Matthew Dale Papke

    Mohave County passed it!

  • Yadkin

I fear that you may be wrong in most of your statement, Flippy. A great percentage of the nation is cheering Sheriff Joe, not laughing at him. And Arizona’s Governor has more guts than most of the progressive party for standing up for what is right. And I’ve not heard a great number of Arizonans complain about her. Some, especially immigrants (legal and not), have but the actual citizens themselves seem to like Gov. Brewer. As to the $22M, it is actually a bit more than that, and for good reason…but certainly much less than what more liberal and/or progressive counterparts spend on an annual basis.

  • Yadkin

Many of our founding fathers argued against having 2 or more parties, as it would set the stage for dividing the country (as it has already done). Electing individuals based on their merit and record was always the intent for congress, while the senate was appointed by the states themselves (it should really go back to that). Since a states citizenry elects their own representatives, it can be correctly assumed that senators appointed from those elected officials are ultimately the same individuals that the citizenry would elect anyways.

  • Cassandra Mooneyham

Mohave County already passed the Resolution to Censure Sen. John McCain on Saturday, January 4, 2014!

  • Yadkin

Granted, but then so are others from various states that are clearly progressives and liberals from within the Republican party. It is clear that the party itself has been infiltrated by just such people and that it is time to clean house (and senate too).

  • Yadkin

roflmfao. For much the same reasons, I left the Republicans to become a Libertarian. Since both Constitution Party and Libertarian Parties hold the Constitution of the United States as the number one priority, we get flack from both sides of the issue. Good for you with your DNC calls. :)

Oh I only listed a couple for time’s sake but there are about a dozen RINOs in the GOP who need to go today!
I think we need to make the Sen. and Hou. equal and have term limits so nobody serves more than 12 years. Having the Hou. have to get reelected every 2 yrs is absurd–it should be more like 4 yrs. with a limit of 2 terms–Sen. 5 years with a limit of 2 terms. Why our founding fathers had the Hou. serve only 2 years is puzzling except maybe it was so that the Repre. could go back to their farms etc. but with today’s elections being so expensive maybe it should be changed.
And term limits for the SCOTUS is a must too. Also their retirement package should only include the years that they served NOT serve 2-4 yrs. and get that pension for life and to be collected when they reach a certain age only–like 65!!!
I think you are probably thinking of Sen. Byrd of So. Carolina (?) who served for over forty years–was there until he died at around 95! That crap needs to stop! I’ll google it.

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8FvmesaxXg Sam Fisher

Many people here are just sick of the flip flops. The next to elections is a possibility of that thing happening if we can get someone to lead the charge on the Tea Party front. The GOP is playing damage control because they are actually giving money to Dems to get rid of the Tea Party movement.

  • Anonymous

Update :)—-Robert C. Byrd–W. Virgina–9 term Sen. so that means he was there for 54 YEARS and only died in 2010 at age of 92! He was a member of the KKK back in the day and there was substantial proof of that over the years.
I remember one time he had to be brought to the floor in a hosp. bed–then later in a wheel chair until the end.
Thanks for the memories–I’d forgotten about how long he’d served–if that’s what you want to call it!

the azgop however, is in mccains/rnc/gop/roves pocket.
the head of the azgop is none other than dirty businessman and McCain/rove shill Robert graham (who appointed other McCain sycophants Gretchen conger Martinez, and chad Heywood to leadership positions) not to mention mccains wife controls the chambers of commerce. Bruce ash is another in the azgop/rnc hierarchy who sponsored the rnc/gop amnesty resolution even though az voters want no amnesty what so ever. let the azgop know what you think of McCain and his sycophants graham and ash.complete sellouts, lobbyist bribes mean more to them than the voters do.the azgop establishment is NO different than it is at the national level they too are pushing obamas agenda of debt, deficits, obamacare and amnesty.let them know, we the voter say no to all of the above.
give them a call and a piece of your mind

I knew when he campaigned in ’08 that he was nothing more than a politician saying what the voters wanted to hear in order to get their vote. Most of them are exactly like him. We need more people to run for office who aren’t “professionals”. We need just regular folks to get in Congress and show them what the “common man” really needs and can do for themselves. Somebody who really does give a damn about this country. Somebody who will vote for laws that benefit the people and the country, rather than some politician’s pocket.

Don’t sell the Tea Party short. They may not be out in the open as much, but they’re still working behind the scenes to get things done.

Of course he is – just like most of the other politicians in DC. Why else would people spend millions of dollars to get a job that pays $174,000 p/year? Most leave DC as millionaires. Do you think they’re saving their paycheck? LOL Nope, they collect big time from all those rich lobbyists.

I have seen several headlines regarding Senator McCain’s censure, but not published by any of the major news outlets, i.e., CNN, ABC, NBC, FOX, CBS. I wonder why.

I understand the draw of the Libertarian Party, but I don’t agree with a lot of its platform planks, and I prefer a specifically Christian Party, if I’m going to be in a Party. The Constitution Party may not be as old or as popular as the Libertarian Party, but then again Christianity is not as popular, either.

I’d rather take the road less traveled. For me, it’s about principles; not necessarily the easy path.
