WATCH “Control and Conform”: Glenn slams progressive Republicans on The O’Reilly Factor

  • jen

Disgusting how O’Reilly is so dismissive of Beck or someone who is trying to make a different point than O’Reilly’s pals – Bush/Christie.

O’Reilly clearly thinks it is impossible for Bush/Christie to be for something that is bad. He made it very clear with his gestures and demeaning looks to Beck that if it is good enough for Bush/Christie, then it should be good enough for everyone and it is ludicrous to second guess progressives if they are Republicans.

Unbelievable. Such disgust O’Reilly holds for non-elites who don’t side with dem/repub elites. Like when Kerry says Assad used chemical weapons, O’Reilly demonized anyone who questioned Kerry – Kerry has to be right because he is high up in dem/repub hierarchy, according to the not so wise O’Reilly.

  • Mike Spanjer

if you liked hitler then comon core is for you

  • Joe T

I enjoy both O’Reilly and Beck. Sometimes I agree with what they say sometimes I do not. The Glen Beck program with pat&stu is better than the O’Reilly Factor though.

  • jen

true, then you would be saying gop/jeb bush, etc.. like Hitler and supported him.

  • Anonymous

O’Reilly is wise but has very little tact. He enjoys confrontation with idiots. Glenn is a lot calmer but I truly believe they agree 99% of the time.

  • Mike Spanjer

do I support jeb bush ,no just saying common core is like what hitler did to german children, I support the tea party

  • Cathy

good interview, however in my opinion, FOX news has it’s collective mine set to accept and approve common core standards. At times FOX news is somewhat naive.

  • Carl Hartman

The previous system was about creating drones too.

  • Deckard426

O’Reilly believes that unless you vote for McCain and Romney, you’re wasting your vote. Hey, Bill. Count my vote wasted!

  • Kim Brummitt Kilgoar

I do agree that parents need to teach their kids, it is a partnership. HOWEVER, I pay tax dollars for my children to get an education so there is a huge responsibility for our schools to be the bulk of the foundation of our kid’s education. Also, there is a responsibility not to confuse simple concepts like multiplication and addition!

  • bucketnutz

Bill O Reilly should o his homework before the interview instead of quoting Progressive manipulators like Jeb Bush and Christie. Common core should be re-named communist corp.

  • Crassus

So you support a corpse? That’s all the Tea Party is these days.

  • Anonymous

I think Glenn missed some good opportunities. I know they are friendly with each other, but I thought Bill was being impolite and condescending. Granted, Glenn only had only a few precious moments to make his point, but I think his position fell flat. I think Glenn should have been a bit more direct and not taken down the rabbit hole regarding Bush/Christie. Who cares what Bush/Christie think? Bill controlled that interview to the detriment of the topic. But keep up the great work Glenn on this issue. As a homeschooler, I believe Common Core is the battleground for the future.

  • Shawn Cameron

I love how Beck twists the whole William Baer situation into something it isn’t. He wasn’t arrested for “simply asking for an opt out.” He was arrested because he dared to officer to arrest him. He was asked to leave because he refused to give others the same opportunity to speak he had.

  • Shawn Cameron

    Absolutely.

  • Shawn Cameron

Exactly the only difference is Common Core is more subtle, like the English test example in the video.

  • Paul Mullin

I am a truck driver and I did read Huck Finn in high school. Great book

  • Mike Palumbo Jr.

Crassus (tool), somehow Nebraskans didn’t get your memo….

  • jen

Wow! You undermine true tea partiers like Beck far, far more than O’Reilly.
Beck says republicans are in cahoots with Dems – and O’Reilly says they are 2 entirely diff parties with nothing in common like YOU.
Beck says he is against federal reserve bank – and O’Reilly is for it.
Beck is against Common Core – and O’Reilly is fine with it because his pals Bush family are for it.
Sounds like many of the people O’Reilly undermines is whom you call ‘confrontation with idiots’.
Infact, Beck and O’Reilly do not agree 99% of the time. But you and progressive O’Reilly agree 99% of the time. Remember, O’Reilly is a big McCain fan and has and would never criticize him like gop funding of al Qaeda with dems.

So, to Glenn specialization is wrong? If he’s right about what Bill Gates said then that means shopping will be very different in the future. There will be clerks who know what they are talking about when they answer customers questions instead of just trying to make sales quotas the way stores do now. That specialization takes smarts. With America hopefully getting into cooperative capitalism instead of staying with competitive capitalism smarts are going to be in demand. It’s neat that Bill O’Reilly cited some governors who are seeing their schools starting to have good results.

  • Mark Gregory Locke

As a conservative that’s supports the Tea Party but my concern is divided we fall. Somehow someday we must unite to achieve and accomplish what we all want. GOD BLESS

  • Caniac Steve Henderson

I see Common Core for educations as Obamacare is for our health care

  • Anonymous

Elitist worthless RINOs, these are liberal trash bags!

  • Mike Spanjer

gota go with what you believe in ,who do you support

  • Mike Spanjer

don’t think you know what you are talking about

This video will not play -even when you refresh. What has happened?

COMMON CORE STANDARDS PLACE AMERICAN STUDENTS 3 YEARS BEHIND INTERNATIONAL PEERS

  • Anonymous

Common core is very bad. Change will come only when good people speak up, especially teachers and administrators. The “industrial” education model (especially in our high schools) does not serve student’s needs, students are bored silly and very frustrated. They deserve better.

  • SL

If there were ever an adjective that does NOT describe O’Reilly, it’s “wise”. He may be a saavy TV promoter, but wise? Certainly not.

  • Reliquary

You must be a CC baby…. you clearly have selective hearing. He said ” He was arrested for violating the 2 minute rule”

  • Glennfriend67

Um…Glenn and Bill have been pretty good friends for a long time. It was Bill that brought Glenn to Fox, and he supported Glenn all the way when Glenn decided to build his own network. No, they don’t agree on a lot of stuff politically, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be friends. Glenn himself says he has some liberal friends. Remember- there’s a difference between liberal and progressive. I believe O’Reilly’s a moderate, but a Progressive? Oooh, no!

  • teatime

To put them 3 years behind is the reason for common core, that what makes them good commie’s!.

  • David Orr

Glenn, get rid of those awful glasses frames.

  • teatime

    If you vote for a commie,that is what you get.If you vote for what they want, you might as well not vote, you’ll get it anyway;

  • teatime

That is A LIE;Obama, just signed 35 arrest warrants for Governors, I’d say they are not doing what he wants!!.

  • jen

however you want to slice it, bill sides with progressives over conservatives on most issues that divide the two.
true, bill is not as hardcore as his rino bosses. when it comes down to it, bill sides with progressives most of the time – bottom line matters.

  • jen

Issue is that Beck did not provide a good answer of why bush/Christie would be for common core. his only answer is ‘progressive republicans’. beck needed to explain further, when he didn’t do that, bill took over.

  • jen

many tea partiers would disagree with you – according to them, leftists are only those that are dem. so Romney/cheney/bush family do not qualify as being ‘liberal’, according to tea partiers.

  • jen

easy to unite if tp and some dems decided to be sane and think about themselves for a change instead of what is best for their beloved parties.

    ?????!!!!! Huh?????

  • Katie

    Two words Ben Sasse

  • Katie

O’Reilly made a TON of money by riding the coat tails of Glenn Beck going around the country. That was Beck’s idea. After he left Fox, O’Reilly went with Dennis Miller, but Glen was the brains behind it. O’Reilly became more “progressive” after he saw what being truthful and outspoken did for Glenn at Fox. He knows which side his bread is buttered on and isn’t capable of starting a network like Glenn did, if canned by Fox.

  • Katie

He also believes in global warming and is for immigration.
These “ideas” surfaced after he saw what Fox did to Glenn.

  • Katie

He is smart enough to know what to say and what not to say, to keep his job. I don’t listen to him anymore. Don’t know how he is still # 1

  • jus’cuz

Hey! if enough parents actually showed up at these meetings and showed interest their childrens’ education maybe they’d have to call in the swat/Nat guard…It could happen

  • Tyler McBeth

Awesome! Let’s get some classes going and box people in and then give them factions so we can eventually give them some soma and put shells in their ears. I wonder who will be alpha prime when all is said and done?

  • Lancey

In the older days there was a two tract system. One was for a college tract curriculum and one was for a vocational education. I don’t think that it should be change. A one size fits all approach isn’t wise!

  • Anonymous

Don’t everyone see what going here in obama nanny police state with the word and thought police you must conform or else be smear with a falsely applied racists card with what you say taken out context !! To me it about control if your not in locksteps with your opinions, views, words, thoughts , or your choices or decisions per the progressive they will use one of their tools in controlling you with the threat of labeling you racists with a public witch hunt to be shun and that you shouldn’t not have a job or your not deserving enough to own your property per their whims and take it away from you !!!!!!!!!!! Conform Conform or else with this progressive obama administration a way to limit citizens choices to only what choices the progressive want you to have !!!!!!!!! Instead of having your own children spying on you and reporting you to government police state goons in pre War World Two Germany if your not in lockstep with this progressive regime !! Now you have NSA handing over to the progressive police state movement & progressive hackers with a spying devices to spy on you with anything electronic to see if your in lockstep with the police step or else !! With electronic devices like GPS in your car to track your movement, cell phone never really off monitor your conversations,GPS location ,take picture, TV and computer taking video and picture of your private life without your knowledge it worst than pre World War Two in Germany where you must conform of else !!

  • Anonymous

We are losing our 1.) Freedom of Speech, 2.) Our right to privacy 3.) Our freedom of association and assembly without government snooping and reprisal from the government or this info is handed off to Democratic progressive goons to do the reprisal if your not in lockstep with their views !!

  • Shawn Cameron

And that’s not what he was arrested for.

  • Shawn Cameron

But no I’m not a Common Core baby as you put it, nor do I support it. The reason being is I have done my research on it and the truth is it’s not really much different than the system we’ve had for years. Critical thinking has not been the concern in public schools for a very long time. Making good little drones has.

Tell me what is it specifically about common core that you have found in your own research of the subject that you do not like?

  • Reliquary

Ummmm I was a teacher for 25 years and college professor for 5 years. Where did you do your research, Wikipedia? If you actually did so much research, as you claim, you would be clear on what the problems are with CC. They are substantially different then anything in education before. And really quite horrifically based in money and political agenda.Since i now see that you are no more then a liar and shill, I will end any further conversation in this thread right now.

  • Shawn Cameron

What’s with all the aggression? Need to get laid? Or are you simply one of those that wants to attempt to shout down and ridicule anyone who isn’t in lock step with your opinion?

I am clear what the problems with Common Core are and even if I had done my research on Wikipedia that’s a step up from letting Glenn Beck make my mind up for me. It’s obvious by the infantile attitude you display.

  • Ethan Freer Davis

That worked well for the elite who were tracked for college, but not so well if you had the ability and desire, but not the “right” background. My husband was switched to voc ed when his parents divorced. My siblings and I never made the college bound track despite having straight A’s and advanced classes. Might have had something to do with the fact that our father was blue collar and we are 3/4 Native American. We were still able to get our degrees but that tracking system you think so highly of made it much more difficult than it should have been. Thankfully colleges such as BYU and PLU and UW thought otherwise. I am astonished to find that there are still those who want a system like that. It wasn’t voluntary or equitable you know. ???

  • Lancey

Conformity and juvenile deliquency are opposite ends of the spectrum. The contrast is the.wisdom to know the difference! Conforming to reasonsble standards where most people agree what is reasonable and one who is not accepting of any standards is juvenile deliquency.

  • Jon Kahr

Those who harbor utopian delusions work very hard to undermine the institutions and traditions, such as private property, upon which civilization depends.
