It's no secret that Glenn is a big fan of Senator Ted Cruz. But he's not the only one, Cruz has come out on top of two audience polls asking listeners and viewers of The Glenn Beck Program to grade all of the potential GOP nominees. On Thursday, Cruz's office reached out to Glenn's producers and asked if the senator could join the radio show on Friday. No one knew what he was going to say, but speculation quickly turned towards an announcement regarding a run for the White House in 2016.
"This audience loves you, sir, and we would love to now hear your announcement that you have started an exploratory committee, and so go ahead," Glenn said to Cruz.
"Well, Glenn, I have to tell you, I cannot overstate how encouraged I am by the support. There is nobody I would rather march into battle with than the men and women that listen to you every day. Because they're Americans standing up to turn our country around," Cruz said.
"So what I'll say is stay tuned," he added.
But Cruz wasn't done - he quickly outlined his upcoming travel plans to key primary states.
"I will point out, I was in Iowa last weekend. Tomorrow morning, I'm flying to South Carolina. The next day, I'm going to New Hampshire. Those are not necessarily states chosen at random," he said.
"Ted, it sounds to me like you've made an announcement without making an announcement," Glenn said.
After a discussion about the news of the day, Glenn reiterated that he thinks Cruz made an unofficial announcement.
"I think we kind of did hear that here. We'll wait for the official announcement, but we're thrilled," Glenn said. "A huge, I think, announcement here."
Cruz said that if you want to join his grassroots efforts, text the word CONSTITUTION to 33733.
