‘Partisan Politics’ Don’t Belong in Discussions About Fighting Terror

What happened?

A 29-year-old man drove a pickup truck into a crowd of bicyclists and pedestrians Tuesday in New York City. The suspect has been identified by authorities as Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov, an immigrant from Uzbekistan who has been in the U.S. since 2010. New York authorities have confirmed that it was a terrorist attack and Saipov left a note saying the attack was carried out in the ISIS.

Eight people were killed in the attack, and nearly a dozen others were wounded. Five of the eight were friends who were visiting from Argentina to commemorate 30 years since their high school graduation.

The attack marks the deadliest terrorist attack in New York since 9/11.

Glenn’s take:

Tragically, terrorist attacks have been our new normal since 9/11. But running to our political corners every time it happens isn’t going to help. We need to work together to find commonsense solutions that will keep us safer.

“These attacks are going to be more frequent and continue to come out of seemingly nowhere,” Glenn said on today’s show.
