The Argument Against Idiots: Celebrities for Barack

September 18, 2008 - 12:28 ET

How to win the argument de jour with logic and facts

The issue:

'Celebrities for Barack'

What the liberal whiners say:

'Did you ever wonder why virtually ALL celebrities are endorsing Barack Obama? Like Barbra Streisand, who sang at his latest fundraiser?'

'And how about that fresh faced, Lindsay Lohan, star of "Freaky Friday" and "Parent Trap"? Even SHE is encouraging everyone to vote for Barack Obama. Of Sarah Palin she rightly asked: "Is our country so divided that the Republicans best hope is a narrow minded, media obsessed homophobe?"

'Oprah is a big supporter! There's no one more fair than Oprah. Not even YOU could have anything against OPRAH!?!?!?'

Your winning, logical, reasoned arguments

1. Is that the same Barbra Streisand that told everyone in California to hang their clothes out to dry instead of using a dryer, run their dishwashers only when full, and lambasted President Bush's conservation policies? When "Babs" herself refused to hang out her clothes on a line, has multiple mansions, custom-built SUV's and flies around in private jets? That's someone we should listen to?

2. Wow, that's a powerful question from a 22 year old who's been arrested several times for drunk driving, cocaine possession, has already been in and out of rehab multiple times, and is about to "marry" her DJ GIRLfriend. I mean, if you can't take voting advice from a celebrity like that, I don't know who you can take advice from.

3. Fair? Oprah raised $3 million for Obama, had him on her show and CAMPAIGNED for him. She refuses to have Sarah Palin on her show. Is that FAIR? Oprah also told a her studio audience that there are millions of ways to live, and told the Christians in her studio audience and watching on TV that they were wrong believing that Jesus is the only way.
