GLENN: From Radio City in Midtown Manhattan, hello, you sick twisted freak. Welcome to the program. My name is Glenn Beck. There’s a ton going on today and I want to try to touch on as much of it as I can. I think that there is a coming move on the newspapers and the television stations and radio perhaps. I mean, radio will be the only thing that is independent. So radio’s going to be the only thing that will not get a bailout. Well, I think it will be talk radio and Fox that won’t even be considered for getting any kind of a bailout. In fact, as everybody is talking about the freedom of press and how important it is to have voices and to have information, you watch, they will come at the first volley was fired from the bough of USS Obama on Saturday. I saw in a report, he was in a meeting and said those who listen to Rush Limbaugh can’t expect to get anything done. You’ve got to find an enemy, and the enemy will be talk radio. But also you need to have allies, and the government is going to swoop in and I just, I hope I’m wrong, but I think they are going to swoop into these poor journalists with newspapers and television stations and say, "You know what, we’ve got to help these poor souls because it’s too important for you to have a local newspaper or a local television station." How about a free local website? How about that? You get all your news on the Internet. I mean, why not. We’re wiring the entire country now for Internet. Broadband access, that’s part of the stimulus bill. Why not. Why do we need the newspapers and the printers. We don’t use them anymore. When you get home, do you really need to know the news of the day? Do you sit down and watch the 30-minute news broadcast anymore? I don’t. I’ve already seen the news six times. I know what it is. I use the Internet. Most people do. What you are looking for is some perspective, I think. And that’s the one thing that the news business is still not giving us is any kind of perspective. How can anyone be taken seriously when they report th at this is a stimulus package. Please help me out on that. The government won’t be able to spend at least one fourth of this stimulus package until after 2010. One quarter of the stimulus package won’t even be allowed or available until 2011. This is not from that evil Rush Limbaugh. This is from the CBO, the congressional business office. The government is going to spend $26 billion of the $825 billion, they will spend only $26 billion of it this year, $110 billion of it the next year and $103 billion will be spent in 2011 and the remaining $53 billion — I’m sorry, it’s not even the remaining. $53 billion will be spent in 2012 and $63 billion between 2013 and 2019. This isn’t a stimulus package by any stretch of the imagination. Less than $5 billion of the $30 billion set aside for highway spending will be spent in the next two years. Less than $5 billion of the $30 billion. Remember they are saying this is about infrastructure, this is construction, building bridges and roads. $30 billion? Here’s an idea. Take the $20 billion that you’re spending right now and add another $30 billion and put it in there right now for the bridges. What do you say we just call this a $50 billion stimulus package.

One in $7 of a huge $18.5 billion investment for energy efficiency and renewable energy programs would be spent within a year and a half, $1 in $7. Almost a billion dollars is being spent to expand broadband access to rural areas. This is not, this is not a stimulus package, and it’s a lie to anybody who’s telling you any differently.

But you are not getting the truth. I have to tell you something. I have — you know, before people just didn’t want to look crazy on television. Now I have to tell you, I’m talking to people on television and I’m seeing people on television and I know they’re lying to you. And some of them have a good intent. And some of them can’t say these things, "We can’t say these things on the air. It’s irresponsible. If we say what really could be happening right down the pike, well, then people will panic and everything else." So with good intent — and maybe they’re right — they are intentionally not telling you the truth.

Others are not telling you the truth because their business might get part of the bailout. Nobody wants to make an enemy of this government because the government is becoming the mob. They will tell you what you do and they will destroy you if you don’t do it. And this is our country, and they’re not going to get away with it because Americans, we’re almost to the point to where we’re down on the mat. We’re not there yet. We’re almost to the point to where we’re down on the mat and that’s when Americans get it. But not if we don’t do our job, not in we as citizens don’t do our job and we make sure that the facts we give are absolutely right, that we don’t spread Internet rumors.

I’m going to put these facts out on these — Stu, can you take all of these facts and put them in the newsletter today? These things have been checked six ways to Sunday, and I will put them in our free e-mail newsletter today at GlennBeck.com. How much for businesses, how much for jobless benefits and healthcare and education? When is it being spent, how much is a trillion dollars? What are the actual facts on this? I’ll have it for you in the newsletter. That you can pass around.
