VOICE: The Glenn Beck program presents more truth behind America’s March to Socialism.
GLENN: I don’t know about you, but I am still atingle from yesterday’s news. Last night we were just, it was electric when we found out America had bought a car company. We were like, yeah, company cars for everybody! I mean, I almost don’t want to read the news today because, really, how much better can it get? Seriously? Then I saw this story in USA Today: Leap in U.S. debt hits taxpayers with 12% more red ink, and I’m like, wait a minute, hang on; what? So not only do we now, the taxpayer, own a failing car company but we are also the proud new owners of an extra $55,000 per household to cover the cost of federal commitments made in just the last few months. Now, you might be thinking to yourself, "Glenn, why are you excited?" Look, you like to shop ’til you drop, right? You know, I mean, go out, you know, and shop and shop and shop. And if you are going to go out, let’s go out on a big splurge. It’s like, what would you like to have as your last meal? "Lobster." We’re on the biggest shopping spree of all time. Isn’t it a rush to spend trillions of dollars? That’s fantastic. I mean, you know, I know that, you know, we don’t actually go on the shopping spree and we don’t actually get anything in return and we don’t actually, none of us want to own a car company, but we get the bill. So that’s the proof that we shopped until we dropped.
By the way, if you are listening carefully, you notice that I said we owe an extra $55,000 per household. So what is the total per household taxpayer obligation to cover federal spending that, of course, we’re just going to get from the rich? $546,668 per household. $546,668 per household. And by the way, those numbers are for 2008, not 2009. So we’ve got Medicare, Medicaid. They make up 81% of the debt load. And what are we about to do? Say it with me: Free universal healthcare for everybody, along with buying banks and car companies. If you are going to go broke, we might as well go out in a blaze of glory, right? I mean, I can’t wait to get the bill for 2009.
