It was Glenn's birthday over the weekend--which would typically be the type of weekend that has most hosts discussing the crazy birthday bash they had with the family. Unfortunately for Glenn, he must have been busy reading because he came in this morning with a bona-fide wheat futures chip on his shoulder. Fortunately for us, Glenn with a chip on his shoulder means we get tons of entertainment and great radio, such as the following:
What they should say
So many candidates on the GOP side love to say how much they are like Ronald Reagan. What they don't get is that just saying you are like him is not what people want---acting and voting like him is what people want. Glenn sounds off on personal responsibility and limited government---things that have become too PC for politicians to focus on. Could you imagine if a candidate said these things? Iraq 'failure'
Nancy Pelosi called Iraq a 'failure' but of course quickly followed that up with a 'oh, but the troops---now they are successful'. It's quite shameful how this war has been politicized to the point of dishonesty. To say the surge has not worked is a flat out lie. Needless to say, Glenn did not react well to this ridiculous comment from Pelosi. Read the transcript. (Insiders listen here).
Update: Future of Journalism still bleak
The Lantern, a school newspaper from Ohio State University, seems to be standing behind the piece that a writer recently published about Glenn's 'polluting' of the airwaves. Some of you wrote emails, and some of those emails were answered. Unfortunately, the tone was less than cordial. Read the transcript. (Insiders listen here).
Glenn in the News
As you know, Glenn is not a fan of the economic stimulus package that the White House passed which amounts to nothing more than a government hand out. His solution, however, may surprise you. Read his piece from the New York Daily News this weekend titled 'Debit cards for everyone' that explains.
Bodman
When a former Reagan administration official says that the current field of presidential candidates (who endlessly proclaim to be like Reagan) aren't even close to Reagan, that's not a good thing. Former Reagan Deputy Press Secretary and author Karna Small Bodman talks to Glenn about the current crop of candidates and much more. Read the transcript. (Insiders listen here).
