Glenn's been warning of economic doom and gloom the past few months and now some of the things he's been warning about are starting to happen. So, the poll question is---What do you think about Glenn's view of the economy? Take the poll.
RIP Personal Responsibility
It's been dying a slow and painful death in recent years, but it seems personal responsibility has finally breathed its last today---as signs of its absence are everywhere. From politicians not accepting they lost fair and square, to people who signed on to risky mortgages and now seek bailouts, personal responsibility is already sorely missed. Glenn highlights sadly typical examples of life after personal responsibility: Read the transcript. (Insiders listen here).
From Prince to Poverty
It's very difficult to screw up a life like Prince Jefri had in Brunei. Brother of the Sultan of Brunei, Prince Jefri was placed in charge of the Ministry of Finance. $475 million worth of Rolls Royce cars and billions in other miscellaneous spending later, Prince Jefri has managed to attract the wrath of the Sultan---which must be tough to do considering the Sultan himself owns a palace that itself covers 49 acres and has 1,788 rooms. How did he do it? Read the transcript. (Insiders listen here).
Liberal Hacks
You gotta love liberal bloggers. Actually, no you don't--they are all pretty much just angry wannabe celebrities that are frustrated, and have only six people reading their fabulous daily postings. One blogger marveled at this quote Glenn gave from Ben Franklin on poverty:
You know one of my favorite quotes on poverty comes from Benjamin Franklin. I love this quote: "We should make the poor uncomfortable and kick them out of poverty." I love that!
The blogger complained 'I bet he does love that! Know what I'd love? To be able to find where or when Franklin said this! Because so far, I've had no luck.'
Google is a very difficult device to use, especially when you are being intellectually dishonest. Here is the quote Glenn referred to---notice the shocking differences that the brilliant blogger couldn't wrap his biased brain around.
'I am for doing good to the poor but I differ in opinion about the means. I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is, not making them easy in poverty, but leading them or driving them out of it.'
So 'uncomfortable' instead of 'easy' and 'driving' instead of 'kicking'. Wow, that's some blogtastic journalism there---way to go, ace!
Insiders listen here for Glenn's reaction to the blogger's posting.
