Glenn's interview with a dead man

On Today's Program

Glenn's Message To You

Glenn apologizes if his message to you is incoherent, since he wrote it on the plane at 2 in the morning. Read it here.

Free Speech Wins

Friend of the program -- writer Mark Steyn, who had been attacked by the national Canadian "Human Rights" Commission for the horrific crime of saying things he believed, has been cleared. "It was the second of three motions before three separate bodies to be dismissed; Steyn still awaits the decision of the British Columbia provincial commission." Oh, if Mark were only a fan of higher taxes and Barack Obama, how much easier his life would be. Read the article.

What the mainstream media won't report

Casualties in May and June represent the lowest 2 month period in entire Iraq war. From Newsbusters:

So how will the media handle the unprecedented improvement?

Some possibilities:

·  Point out that June's total of US troop deaths is 50% higher than May's.

·  Adopt the approach of the Associated Press, which has telegraphed that it will lighten up on reporting from Iraq because people are "war-weary."

·  Note that the improvements should create expectations for bringing troops home sooner rather than later.

On the program today, Glenn reminds all of us to remember to pray for our troops, and think about everything they do for us. Read the transcript. (Insiders listen here).

Blame the speculators

While everyone blames speculators for oil prices, they might want to read up on the market for onions. From CNNMoney.com:

Back in 1958, onion growers convinced themselves that futures traders (and not the new farms sprouting up in Wisconsin) were responsible for falling onion prices, so they lobbied an up-and-coming Michigan Congressman named Gerald Ford to push through a law banning all futures trading in onions. The law still stands.

Problem? With no futures markets, onion prices swing far more wildly than oil markets.

Oh yeah, and iron ore too: Read more here.

Dead Man Talking

Brad Thor, author of The Last Patriot, was on the show months ago and Glenn told him that he should consider not publishing the book. With extremists rioting over cartoons they don't like--Glenn believes Brad is legitimately in danger because of this book. What's his book about? How is he dealing with death threats? Read the transcript here including the Glenn Beck quote "You'll think 'Brad Thor is a dead man.'" (Insiders listen here). Buy the book here: The Last Patriot
