Glenn: ‘Shut down Guantanamo Bay’?
On Today’s Program
Glenn’s major change
Glenn has always been in favor of keeping our Guantanamo Bay terrorist prison in place so long as there is no crazy pointless torture going on. But, today, the first ever videotape of actual torture has finally been released by the attorney for an at the time 15 year old terrorist (Omar Khadr) who tossed a grenade and killed a U.S. soldier. WARNING: The video you are about to watch is EXTREMELY graphic. The participants are not actors, and the extreme torture you are about to witness is not staged—it’s 100% REAL*. Watch at your own risk. Anyone under the age of 27 should watch this in the company of someone 27 or older. Read the transcript, and watch the video. (Insiders listen here).
*Real if you consider being talked to in a normal tone of voice a form of torture.
Another crazy cartoon
Barack Obama came out and addressed the cartoon that’s causing some controversy around media circles the last couple of days, saying that Muslims would be offended by the cartoon. The likely next president of the United States is addressing a cartoon. A CARTOON. This is the world we live in ladies and gentlemen, where possible Presidents of the United States are tackling the big issues like…cartoons. Read the transcript. (Insiders listen here).
MORE OBAMA: Besides the obvious elitism, what was painfully wrong with Michelle Obama’s latest comments bashing a $600 stimulus check from the government as something you could only ‘buy a pair of earrings’ with? Stu explains in today’s Stu Blog attempt.
Poll re-do
Many of you participated in a hypothetical poll earlier this week that asked who you would vote for in a Presidential race between Obama, McCain and George W. Bush. The results were overwhelmingly in favor of a George W. Bush 3rd term. This does not bode well for McCain. Glenn wants you to re-take the poll and this time ‘really think about it’ to make sure we have the results correct. Glenn, by the way, says he would vote for George W. Bush in a heartbeat. Read the transcript, and take the poll again. (Insiders listen here).
Battle of the Headlines
Glenn started a new feature today that will highlight the uphill battle John McCain has ahead of him with the media. Each day Glenn will read the headlines awarded to Barack Obama and John McCain—and see who is getting the love from the mainstream media. Read the transcript. (Insiders listen here).
Stu’s energy search
As Glenn was going over Obama’s energy plan, Stu was out looking for new energies (since that’s basically what Obama’s plan is—hope for magical new energy sources). Amazingly enough, Stu was able to find something rather significant that could change the world, and it was invented by Dr. Emmett Brown. Not many people ever thought they’d live to see the day that scientists were finally able to produce 1.21 gigawatts of power needed to power Mr. Fusion—a highly sophisticated food machine converted into a power source for automobiles. But that day is here and excitement is in the air, along with solid evidence why the Glenn Beck Program remains a distant 3rd in the ‘most listened to talk radio program’ category. Amputee Vet rides again
Jake Keeslar had both of his legs amputated after his striker was hit by an IED while serving in Iraq. We’ve followed the story of Jake and his wife over the last two years. When Glennn first met Jake he was determined to get back to the life he and his wife had before he got hit — and he did just that. Rock climbing, scuba diving, fly fishing – you name it – Jake let nothing get in his way. He even built his own legs to make it happen. This time last year Glenn called out to America to see if anyone was willing to help Jake accomplish his final goal — to get back on a motorcycle. An amazing man in Lyons Michigan answered that call. His name is Bill Hattan and he owns a bike shop called Cool City Customs. Bill donated his time, his money and his energy to build Jake the bike of his dreams. A $25,000 beauty, tailor-made to Jake’s needs as a double amputee and to the vision he always had for the perfect bike. Glenn talked to Bill on the radio program today. Read the transcript.
