Glenn’s bailout: saving slugs who forgot Valentine’s Day

On Today’s Program

Couple of the Year

Being in the midst of the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression doesn’t give you an excuse to not get anything for your wife on Valentine’s Day. Women don’t tend to go for that excuse, especially when there is the $2 card option that at least gives the appearance of thoughtfulness. But guys will be guys and that means guys will, inevitably, completely forget to get their wives anything for Valentine’s Day. That’s where Glenn’s Couple of the Year contest comes in – a contest that has been bailing out slugs since 2000. The first (of several) couples of the year goes perfectly, taking this man out of the dog house and into good graces once again. (Transcript, Insider Audio)

No socialism to see here, folks

Liberals these days know that when their policies are labeled socialism, generally there is not much support for them. That’s why when interviewers or people ask them why their policies seem so socialist, they are quick to say –  ’what? socialism? No, that’s not socialism. It’s just fairness.’ Yet the socialism agenda marches on, and the next move is to nationalize the banks. What does that mean to you? Glenn talks with Wall Street Journal economic writer Steve Moore for the answer. (Transcript, Insider Audio)

We Surround Them – Principle #8

#8 It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.

There is an all out assault on the capitalism system and it’s being led by President Barack Obama. The biggest spending program in our nation’s history, attempts at nationalizing the banks, and now President Obama has backed off his campaign promise that he wouldn’t pursue the Fairness Doctrine. Republicans are being criticized for putting politics over America because of their near unanimous opposition to the spending bill – do not let anyone shut your voice down on this premise. If you want a glimpse into what a country looks like that doesn’t adhere to this principle, take a look at Venezuela. They have nationalized their banks, shut down opposing voices, nationalized oil (all things President Obama and Democrats have talked about) and now they are looking at a dictator who has tossed out term limits, opening the door for him to stay a very, very long time. Speak up, unashamedly, against the socialism that’s being crammed down our throats, or Venezuela may not b e that far off.

Glenn ventures out in NYC

On Friday Night, Glenn took Tania to see a show by one of his favorite comedians, Mike Birbiglia. As you can imagine, Glenn is well-liked by liberals throughout the New York City area, but he is particularly loved by the crowd in the “East Village” section of Manhattan, where the theatre was. Glenn says that the show was very funny and worth the trip. If you live in NYC or are planning a trip here soon, check out the show, called Sleepwalk with Mike, here.

>>Stu Blog: Stu took an open minded approach to judging President Obama’s job performance by starting his approval rating at 100% and then knocking points off when he does something negative. The new President has been in office for just over a month—how does he rate on Stu’s system? Find out here.

>>Tonight on Fox News:  Bailouts, Stimulus, and more federal control, as DC borrows and spends in a drastic effort to calm the crisis, Glenn investigates the growing role of government in the economy and what it means for your money. Don’t miss our special series: The Road to Socialism all this week at 5pm on FOX News Channel!
