Actually, the caller did most of the work by calling in very upset with Glenn, for being ‘the biggest eugenicist or Darwinist there is’ because he actually wants companies to be able to fire employees if the company is failing. After a few minutes, this caller had completely destroyed his whole argument – and the best part is he didn’t even realize he just humiliated himself on national radio. (Transcript, Insider Audio)

California gives IOU’s to taxpayers instead of refunds

The amazing budget saga is still unfolding in California, where they’ve laid off 20,000 state workers (a mere drop in the bucket out of the 2.5 million state workers in CA) and proposed massive tax hikes to cover the deficit. What got them into this situation? How outrageous is it that the state is refusing to give out tax refunds owed to its residents? Glenn talks with CATO analyst Tad DeHaven who explains the California mess and how the stimulus is only going to make it worse. (Transcript, Insider Audio)

Media ignores Alaska’s fiscal success during economic crisis

While California is running around like chickens with their heads cut off trying to figure out what to do about their budget crisis, the media is ignoring the fact that Alaska is in solid financial shape to weather the economic storm. The media doesn’t want you to notice that inconvenient truth. While California is handing out IOU’s instead of earned tax refunds, Alaska is able to assure its people that they have billions tucked away for a rainy day to help them survive for at least 2 years if the economy collapsed. If only California remembered that the money they have is not theirs, it’s OURS. Then perhaps they wouldn’t have spent it so recklessly. If they realized (like Sarah Palin and Alaska did) that they need to be careful with OUR money because we are their boss then perhaps California wouldn’t be in line waiting for a handout from the Federal bailout/stimulus bonanza happening right now. A perfect example of what happens when one state is living with princip le and the other isn’t. (Transcript, Insider Audio)

March to Socialism – Pay Per Flush

In Australia they’ve got a little drought going on, so the government has stepped in with the solution: pay per flush taxes. That’ll solve the water shortage! Or, will poor people be forced to sit there in their own squalor while middle-upper class folks continue flushing at will? Don’t look too deeply into that – you may notice a flaw in socialism.
