The most depressing chart ever

The average price of housing hasn’t really changed (adjusted for inflation) aside from the Great Depression. What is the other period that sticks out as being fantastically different? You guessed it — right now. It’s in the other direction, but that’s possibly even more dangerous. Take a look at the chart. Glenn will go into detail tonight on TV – Fox News Channel at 5pm Eastern. Obama sends $3.6 trillion budget

President Obama sent his budget proposal to Congress this week and it includes a huge reserve fund of $634 billion for universal health care! We don’t even have it yet! We haven’t even had the debate! How is the President planning on paying for this and everything else in this massive mess of a budget? By taxing the wealthiest 2%. Even if you taxed 100% of the wealthiest 2% in this country, would it pay for Obama’s plan? Glenn chats with ‘smartest guy on the economy’

Walter Zimmermann is VP of a business called ICAP and it is basically data points for brokerage houses and banks and he breaks down what all the data means.  He’s consulting a group of the richest people in America and is often referred to as ‘the smartest guy on the economy.’ But Glenn described the real reason he likes him: ‘When I talked to him about this yesterday on my car drive home, he said, "Glenn, I’m not the smartest guy on the economy. I just collect data. I just look at the data, and the data speaks for itself. I just show the truth. That’s all I do." (Insider Audio)

We Surround Them – Thrift

Slowly but surely we have gone from a nation of savers to a nation of spenders. It’s a behavior that’s not solely promoted by marketers but by our government as well. Shortly after 9/11 President Bush told people to get out to malls and fly on planes. Part of that was meant to say ‘just live life like usual’ but a bigger part was he thought that would help the economy. Same thing with President Obama – he’s banking on you spending stimulus money, that’s the whole idea behind a stimulus. However, as Glenn explains, there is nothing wrong with saving money. You are not hurting the economy by building up an emergency fund. To the contrary, you are actually strengthening the financial position of our country. Today’s value is one that may be the most difficult for us to live by—and that’s thrift. We slam the government for spending too much, but have you looked closely at your budget lately? March to Socialism – Cap N Trade

Cap N Trade is coming our way – the greenies have promised this system will save the Earth and promote green technologies. Europe has been using this system for the last year, so how is it working for them? The system is in total collapse. The value of the carbon credits are plummeting which means companies can buy them cheap and pollute all they want. Tons of money spent, no solution to the ‘problem’ of global warming and no green technologies being used. Good program, can’t wait for it here in the U.S.! (Transcript, Insider Audio)
