Obama breaks another promise

Remember when presidential candidate Senator Obama said, “If you make under $250,000 a year you will not see a tax increase of any kind” and his running mate, Joe Biden, said the same? That’s the latest campaign promise to go up in smoke, as the unprecedented tax hike on cigarettes went into effect yesterday. The hike is six times bigger than any other cigarette tax hike in history—and since people making less than $250,000 a year are more likely to smoke it’s a disproportionate tax on the poor. Not only that, the tax will likely discourage low income people from smoking—thus hurting the original reason given for the tax—funding S-CHIP, the health care program for kids. Glenn comments on the broken promise here. ( Transcript, Insider Audio)

Sarah Palin Bikini video

People will just not stop tearing down Sarah Palin—her critics will do anything they can to discredit her. During the campaign she was diminished on several fronts–including her past as a beauty queen and a sportscaster. The latest is the video of Sarah Palin that shows her in a revealing bikini. Could you imagine a female democrat candidate being put through this kind of demeaning treatment? There is no conservative that I know of who would release a video like this one (of Palin) that shows the candidate in her younger years, in revealing outfits. VIDEO

Obama’s charity tax

President Obama’s charity tax will make foundations lose about $4 billion this year, a ‘marginal’ amount in Barack Obama’s world. He says charities will only suffer because the economy is slowing down and his tax won’t hurt giving to charitable organizations. The evidence says quite the opposite—in fact, his charity tax will hurt foundations ten times more than the economic downturn. ( Transcript, Insider Audio)
