Pictures From Iraq

On Tuesday, May 11th, Glenn asked for families and friends of those in Iraq to send us pictures of our soldiers in action, helping the Iraqi people. Beginning today we will bring you photos of U.S. soldiers serving our country and the Iraqi people honorably. Whenever possible we will provide you with their name and story of their experiences.

If you would like to email us with your pictures, please send them to pictures@glennbeck.com . Please include a short description of the photos and whenever possible the name of the solider and what unit they're serving in.

Thank you,
The Glenn Beck Program

Today we present some pictures from Afghanistan.

Jeff sent in the following pictures along with the story below.

Notes from Kandahar, Vol IV

Hello Everyone, Its been a couple of weeks since we sent out our Battery Newsletter, and so much has happened in that short span of time, I felt compelled to write all of you a note to keep you updated on the great things ATTACK Battery is doing in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

1st Platoon arrived a while back, got settled, began combat operations, but have now pulled up stakes from there current location. Many family members are already aware that they are moving to another area of operations where the positive impact they will have will truly be immeasurable. It will be hard living for awhile, but they will be fine. I met with many of them yesterday and their morale is very high and they are anxious to get to their new home.

2nd Platoon is busy as always in the southeastern reaches of Afghanistan. I had the awesome opportunity to fly out and visit SSG MacFarland and the team from Shkin on a combat operation in the Gomal District of Paktika Province. They are completely integrated into the Wolfhound Battalion, conducted both mounted and dismounted patrols. They are scaling mountains and clearing villages. Under the Air Defense crest is a pair of Infantry crossed rifles.

After leaving SSG MacFarland, I flew to visit the rest of the platoon. I should probably tell you now that I was escorting Geraldo Rivera, providing him with background information, and ensuring he was able to tell the good news of the Bronco Brigade, and all we are doing here. We were all welcomed by an extended barrage of rockets that you may have seen in his reporting - it is public knowledge. The very next day, bright and early, members of ATTACK took the intel reports of where the rockets had originated from. We moved out to a local village, secured the perimeter, shut down the one road to inspect vehicles, spoke to the village elders, and patrolled the mountain that was a backdrop to the small village. After a 2600 meter climb we were fortunate enough to find a suspected launch site. I tell you all this to let you know that ATTACK Soldiers are working hard and are in the thick of ensuring their fellow Soldiers are secure and the bad guys are never safe.

3rd Platoon "WarHammers" were our next stop in the province of Zabol. From the air you could see a perimeter that was textbook. We landed and as I ran off the helo, I approached the Sergeant that was running the landing zone. To my surprise and his, it was Sergeant First Class Ferriera. He was running the LZ for Task Force 2-35 for Operation Boxing Glove. Over his radio, I could here LT Bible directing his platoon in perimeter security, and at the same time preparing to move out to search a cave complex his boys had spotted with their binos. You would have been proud of the 3rd Platoon as they continue to be the hardest working maneuver platoon in their battalion.

As always, Headquarters Platoon were the ones behind the scenes making everything possible. Every time any vehicle rolls outside the wire, it is because a "Wolf Pack" Soldier inspected the maintenance, operability, and mission capability of the vehicles, weapons, night vision, and communications equipment. Every success enjoyed by the line platoons is because a Headquarters Soldier ensured its feasibility!

Very Respectfully,
Todd
