On Saturday April 30th, The Murphy Theater in Wilmington, Ohio kicked off a fundraising campaign as part of their 2011 Murphy Theater Appreciation Reception. Back in December of 2010, The Murphy Theater hosted “America’s First Christmas”, Glenn Beck’s holiday stage show, which was part of a series of events designed to celebrate the spirit of the people and the town of Wilmington, OH. To help further this celebration of Wilmington, Glenn and his wife Tania have made the first donation to help start the campaign.
In the lead up to the Wilmington event, Glenn auctioned off several personal items from his home on uPillar in order to raise money for the town. He challenged his audience to join him in this venture of clearing out their lives of clutter and distractions, and while he encouraged listeners and viewers to use the money as a means to guard against a declining economy, the Becks chose to give the money they raised to the town of Wilmington.
The Beck’s generous donation of over $50,000 will go towards The Murphy Theater’s FIVE PROJECT Plan goal of $509,000. Upcoming renovations include a new sidewalk, a new furnace, a new air conditioning unit and a new auditorium roof.
