One of the most inaccurate comments have been those saying that Glenn is out to teach Israel about courage. Untrue. Rather, Glenn is looking for people around the world to find their own personal courage again.
“This is a personal journey. I don't think the Israelis - what did I say? How many times have I said this? I said this when I went over in 2002. I feel safer there than I do here. Why? Because everybody's aware. Everybody's awake,” Glenn said.
“It is imperative for our safety to let Israel know you are not alone. And to do it as a globe and not just one country. Do it as people of faith. For me I believe, I believe the hatreds of the past are coming back, and I believe that Jews will be persecuted again. And I have made my choice, and I have thought about this for a long time,” Glenn said.
“I will protect, I will defend, I will stand, I will speak, and in the end if it be his will, I will die right alongside my brother. That is the stand. You can do with it what you want. But it's certainly not to teach the Israelis a darn thing.”
But even people who all themselves fans are missing the point.
“These are fans of The Blaze. These are readers of The Blaze,” Glenn said to introduce their thoughts.
“The first one: The economy is collapsing. The nation is going to hell in a hand basket, socialist style. We have new laws every single restricting us. We have the TSA giving us anal problems allowing us to fly and Beck wants to go to Israel? Is this some kind of joke? I have nothing against Israel, Glenn, but pal, we have too much here to worry about. Thanks but no thanks,” Glenn read.
“How about this one. Dear Glenn, get this out of your system before the big election push for next year. I was listening this morning when you announced this and I was dumbfounded. I anticipated a huge constitutional revival or a huge move to a broader state for a showdown against the lefties on the border security and illegal immigration. I hope you get your manic brain wrapped around the home front before the big push in November 2012.”
But perhaps the worst came from a fan who wrote, “Glenn's big announcement is that he has converted to Judaism. Not that there's anything wrong with that, they write. But his need to go to Israel, "Need" is in quotation marks. Along with the fact that he now publicly is wearing a yarmulke. [Yes, sir, when I go to the Western Wall, all people wear a yarmulke, as to not offend others. Yes, sir. When I'm in Rome, I do as the Romans do. – Glenn] That points to his obvious choice that what he is saying is he has a big surprise, a change in his life that he's been thinking about some time. And all the while he's been meeting with more and more rabbis and Israeli religious leaders. It's becoming pretty clear. Like I said, nothing wrong with becoming Jewish. It's not any worse than being a Mormon. So regardless what faith he chooses, although it's pretty clear at this point, I'll still be a fan of his and I'll listen every day.”
What did Glenn think of this poster? “You know what, sir? I don't want you to be a fan of mine. No thank you. That's okay. You should go listen to another show,” he said.
“I appreciate that Judaism is no worse than Mormonism. I do appreciate those crumbs from your table. But no thank you,” Glenn said with sarcasm.
“I will tell you this: The world is headed for Nazi like evil again. The same players are involved. Fascists, socialists, communists, and radical Islam. Well, that's the making of a fine, fine soup. No thank you. Just talk to those who get it. Don't worry about the others. You prepare yourself and you know what you believe. And you talk to those that get it and unite. Get your church to wake up. There will be some things that we're going to be doing. We'll explain later on this week. But get them to wake up,” Glenn said.
