Chris Matthews isn’t even trying to cover up his agenda anymore, and he once again tried to paint conservatives as racists - this time focusing his idiotic comments on Michele Bachmann.
“We have to recapture the founders' vision of a constitutionally conservative government if we are to secure the promise for the future,” Bachmann said.
And how did Matthews interpret it? He said that Bachmann wanted to go back to the “purity of the original Christian Church” and the “original perfection of the slaveholders and how perfect they were.” And as Chris’s guests tried to explain she meant just returning to America’s original principles, he not-so-cleverly quipped, “Like slavery?”.
The whole exchange prompted Glenn to mock Matthews’s statements and sarcastically say that all conservatives just want slaves. Ridiculous.
“Who thinks that is the original intent of our founders? Only people like Chris Matthews who are so incredibly either incompetent and uneducated that they don't know that our founders were actually against slavery. They wanted to abolish slavery. Many of them did. Many of them were abolitionists. Some were not,” Glenn explained.
“They make this case constantly that every single statement made by conservative is driven by some hidden racial hatred,” Stu added.
