Obama claims that he doesn’t mind lowering the rhetoric, but what kind of rhetoric is he talking about? After all, there can be a stark division between inflammatory rhetoric and just the facts. Could the President simply be trying to silence his critics? Glenn exposed the hypocrisy behind his most recent comments on radio this morning.
During his recent bus stop in the Midwest, a conservative attendee started shouting his question for President Obama when the President said he would only have time time for one more.
“You can hear the guy way off in the background rudely yelling the question at him. Trying to get his attention. I hate that to begin with. I hate that technique. And I really wish that people on the right wouldn't use it. Let the left be rude like that, let the left be uncivil,” Pat explained.
The President asked the gentleman to quiet down and that the Q&A doesn’t work if people stand and disrupt. "I know it's not going to work if you just stand up when I ask everybody to raise their hand. I was about to call on somebody. I didn't see you. I wasn't avoiding you,” The President said.
“It's very interesting that the president here is saying he knows things won't work if you just stand up and disrupt things. And yet that's what he's been calling for since Egypt. He's been praising people to stand up and disrupt things,” Glenn commented.
Obama eventually was asked about the heated rhetoric in the country, and Obama said he was all for lowering the rhetoric. “"Let me say this. First of all, in fairness to this gentleman who raised a question, I absolutely agree that everybody needs to try to tone down the rhetoric. Now, in fairness, since I've been called a socialist who wasn't born in this country who is destroying America and taking away its freedoms because I passed a healthcare bill.”
While Glenn has never said – and in fact has vehemently rejected the idea– that the President was born outside of the United States, he doesn’t agree that Obama’s example of heated rhetoric was fair.
“He is taking away your freedom. He's taking away your freedom to choose. Ask your doctor, ask your doctor what's going to happen to your right to choose on healthcare,” Glenn said.
“If you're a manager of a business, you tell me what the future's going to be like. Do you have any idea? No. Because you don't know what regulation is going to be put in on any category. So, yes, Mr. President, it's not just because of the healthcare, but you are destroying freedoms that Americans have always had,” Glenn added.
“Mr. President, we'd love to lower the rhetoric, but by lowering the rhetoric, saying that you have socialist ties, that you have socialist tendencies, radical, revolutionary tendencies, that's not name calling. Those are verifiable facts. And we've spent years now documenting it.”
