Mitt Romney had another confrontation with citizen at town hall meeting and his answer provided some insight into why Tea Party type conservatives are a little uneasy about the former governor. When the questioner talks about how people must rely on the government in crisis times such as these, instead of responding by saying citizens should be prepared themselves and prepared to help others - he goes into a typical big government thinking answer. What did Glenn think?
"80 years ago we had no federal programs, none, and when the federal government tried to come and help a town that had been flooded out, the people of the town met the federal government in the middle of the street and said, 'Turn your damn trucks around. Get the hell out of our town. That's not your place,'" Glenn said.
"We help each other. We are good neighbors to each other. We will provide better help for each other than the government."
"Besides the military, what do they do right?"
"Here we have a hurricane getting ready to bear down on the East Coast. If you're on the East Coast of America right now, go to the grocery store. Go to the grocery store. Guarantee you they're running out of water, they're running low."
"Where are you? Where are you is this if you're on the East Coast and you're the typical America, you're currently waiting in a very long line at the grocery store with some sort of maybe Cap'n Crunch and maybe orange juice because you couldn't get milk or water. Congratulations on that. That's why you need the government. Because none of us will prepare. None of us will think the unthinkable. And they want it that way."
