Veteran Headline News Producer to Develop a New Show with Joel Cheatwood, GBTV’s President of Programming
New Show to Join Growing Line-Up of GBTV Produced Original Programming Including Liberty Tree House, B.S. of A and Mercury Theater
(New York, NY, November 7th 2011) GBTV, Glenn Beck’s live-streaming video network, announced today that it has hired Virginia Leahy to be a Senior Producer. Leahy, who helped develop and launch three primetime shows on HLN including “Glenn Beck,” will work with Joel Cheatwood, GBTV’s President of Programming on developing a new show for the network. The show’s genre and format will be announced at a later time.
Leahy has worked in television for over 9 years. She previously worked at HLN where she helped launch and produce “The Joy Behar Show,” “Issues with Jane Velez-Mitchell,” and “Glenn Beck.” Prior to HLN, Leahy worked at MSNBC as a field and segment producer, Oxygen as a show producer and ABC News.
Cheatwood said: “GBTV is committed to hiring top-level producing talent and Virginia is just that and more. I look forward to being re-united with her after our time together at HLN and am excited to start working with her to add to our growing line-up.”
Leahy said: “I'm excited to be part of GBTV and the new ground its breaking toward the future of television. I have always admired the ability Joel and Glenn have to be innovators since our time together at HLN and look forward to hit the ground running on the new show.”
Since its launch, GBTV has already added a wide range of original programming including Liberty Tree House, Mercury Theater and the comedy news show The B.S. of A. GBTV features Glenn’s two-hour show, which is broadcast live weekdays from 5 to 7PM ET from a newly-built set designed by Glenn and his team at the iconic NEP Studios in Midtown Manhattan. The show, which will be moving to Dallas next year, features Glenn’s unique fusion of entertainment and enlightenment and includes contributors like Amy Holmes, Will Cain, S.E. Cupp and Raj Nair.
