Glenn wrote an insightful message on Facebook over the weekend expressing his awe of people who deal with one of life's most difficult challenges - chronic pain.
"How do you do it?" Glenn asked.
Some of the responses he received were incredibly inspiring to say the least. On radio Monday morning, Glenn shared what he'd learned from some of the respondents, who obviously have much deeper understanding of pain than most.
One comment Glenn shared was from a paraplegic living with severe pain on a daily basis.
"I only get out of bed for 30 minutes a day. I'm in so much pain. I can't even concentrate on TV anymore I can't get away from the pain. There's not much I can do," Glenn read.
Glenn's response?
"I believe that we're all here for a reason. There is something he can do," Glenn said. "And I wrote to him last night, 'Everybody has a gift, and everybody has a calling.'"
Here's what Glenn wrote in his original post:
There are so many people with chronic pain. Those whose every move is a struggle.
I see you out and about, without a flinch or a cross word. I have many friends that can barely move, yet they do.
How do you do it? How do you not drop out of the family? How do you make it with your family intact? How, when you feel as though you are a thousand years old, do you just plow through it?
Is it just that I never see the quiet plight of your wife? That she struggles too but you both are so stoic that none of us see the toll?
For all those who are sick of pain, so many others have plowed this field before. Any tips?
I pray this morning for those who struggle and give God the Glory for the ease of my life.
Help me today see the pain, spiritual and physical in others Lord. Help me get out of my own head, my own life and today, really begin to see others for what they are enduring.
Let me see the examples of everyday heroism all around me. Courage is contagious and so is love. Let me be infected with both today and let it rage against the natural man and become incurable in me.
In Jesus name, I pray.
