Have you ever struggled to find just the right gift, and then finally you find it? The excitement and anticipation. Then, you give it…and it doesn’t connect. Hope and joy turns to disappointment.
As parents or friends, we’ve all be there. Santa missed it. Christmas morning sadness.
Our Father gave us the greatest gift. And tomorrow we celebrate that gift. He knew well before we were born, exactly what we would need. His son. The babe wrapped in swaddling clothes. The very best gift ever.
Our Father (and Heavenly Mother) sent their perfect, most humble and obedient gift down to earth to be with us. To teach us. To heal us, and ultimately save us…knowing that many would not accept their gift.
You see, we as frail and fallen humans seem to regularly undervalue the things we do not earn. The gifts.
Today and tomorrow, let us reflect on the gift our Father gave us. “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord…You shall the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.” (Luke 2: 11-12)
The greatest gift we can give back to our Father is to understand and connect with His gift. To truly appreciate it. To thank Him for it…and to use it. To have the faith to make His son truly a part of our lives, especially at this Christmas time.
Today we come together to accept His gift. The birth of a perfect life, of a son, a brother and friend that changed the world. The best gift ever. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
Merry CHRISTmas. Sleep well tonight no matter what your worries. Santa may not come, BUT CHRIST ALREADY HAS and he has given us all, the only gift that truly matters. Open it, wear it and share it every day.
