STU: Yes, Glenn, political geek update for the day. As you said we're not going to be really talking about politics in the traditional way but, hey, let's do it for a minute because there's a lot of stuff out there anyway with the stupid market meltdown screwing everything up if you actually like John McCain.
GLENN: Market is down 445 points right now. Just opened up. 445 points. We're almost -- Stu, was it yesterday that I said we're going to go into -- we're almost at 9,000 -- it was day before, we're almost at 9,000. Then yesterday we're going to hit into the 8,000s. We're going to hit in the 7,000s today.
STU: It's amazing. As we were talking about in the break with the Insiders, Jim Cramer said on Monday that this market could go to 8300. It could actually go down 20%, go to 8300 and people were saying, oh, my God. Yeah, he was talking about a year from then and people were calling him a pessimist. It's now at 8100. It's five days later.
GLENN: I will tell you everybody was calling me a pessimist. Remember, were you in on the pool, Stu, on the Dow pool?
STU: No.
GLENN: No? Okay. Over at Time-Warner then, everybody, we were making a Dow pool and I was the pessimist and I said, Dow 7500 is going to be the bottom? I'm moving Dow 5,000, seriously.
STU: Unbelievable.
GLENN: 7500 -- we're now 500 points away from, Glenn -- two weeks, three weeks ago, "Glenn, you're crazy. 7500, the whole world would melt down at 7500. We're 500 points away from that."
STU: The good light on this is that I didn't participate in that pool. So there is one good investment I've made this year.
GLENN: There you go.
STU: Not doing that. So anyway, as far as the way it's going with politics, it's killing the McCain campaign right now. Every time this happens, it gets worse and worse for the McCain campaign if you want to look at it politically. There is a new poll out from West Virginia that has Obama up by 8. I mean, that could be easily an outlier, probably is. But still things are moving in that direction and that is not a positive. Rasmussen, you remember McCain pulled out of Michigan. A new poll out has him down by 16 in Michigan now. And as we talked about yesterday, there's 40 states that are probably going to stay in the same direction, 10 of which are going to really decide this election. McCain -- unfortunately they are all red states. McCain basically needs to defend about 84% of the electoral votes in those 10 states which include a bunch that he is down significantly. So again these things turn around really quickly. Oh, my God, we're down 665 points right now in the Dow in case you are interested in that.
GLENN: Oh, my gosh, this is just a disaster. We could close the stock market today.
STU: It's very possible.
GLENN: They could shut the stock market down today.
STU: What a disaster.
GLENN: To do that, that has to fall 1200 points, by the way.
STU: Is it really that much? Jeez.
GLENN: It's 1200 points and they will shut it down.
STU: These are fun times. I love Friday shows. Real quick, every day on the electoral update, I call two states with 100% accuracy. Never have I been proven wrong when I've done this, in the history of the electoral update, never once have I called a state wrong. We have two --
GLENN: You have done it yesterday was the first day.
STU: Glenn, don't include that information. So we have two more states to call.
VOICE: The Glenn Beck program election center, projected winner.
STU: We can now project Connecticut to go to Barack Obama and Oklahoma to go to John McCain. So our total electoral vote count now is 10 to 10.
GLENN: All right, thank you very much, Stu, and there's our update for the day.
