GLENN: I look at this latest CBS poll. Race relations in the U.S., race relations in the U.S. If I said to you, how are race relations in the U.S., if I just took not from what I experienced in day to day life but just what I experience on television, Stu, just based on what you hear in the news and what people are saying and everything else, how would you think that race relations are in America?
STU: Jeez. You know, because all I keep hearing about is, you know, rightwing extremists who might attack the
GLENN: Right. How they hate the president because he's black, how there's
STU: Oh, Janeane Garofalo told me. That's the whole reason we have the tea parties.
GLENN: So it was just these tea parties because we have hate blacks. Back in July 55% of whites said race relations in the U.S. were good. 34% said it was bad, whites. Today 65% of whites say it's good, 21% say it's bad. So it's gotten much better, at least the perception.
STU: Yeah, 10 percentage points.
GLENN: Yeah. Blacks, 29% back in July, 29% said race relations in America were good. 29% said that they were good. 59% said they were bad. Today 59% say they're good and 30% say they're bad.
STU: Almost exactly the opposite.
GLENN: Yes.
STU: Yeah.
GLENN: I mean
STU: 30 points?
GLENN: 30 points.
STU: Wow.
GLENN: 30 points. I don't hear that. Now, nothing has changed. Nothing has changed, at least that I see. I don't think anything has changed. Okay, we have a black president. Who cares. I don't care if he's black, white, yellow. It doesn't matter to me. It hasn't changed my life at all. Now, maybe it has in the perception of you can make it in America. It is a good milestone to be able to say, look, anybody can make it. But has it changed anything else? The direction of the country? Right direction, 34% for whites. 70% for blacks. Wrong track, 56% for whites, 22% for blacks. Evaluations of the president. Overall job approval, approve or disapprove. Approve, 62% of whites. Disapprove, 27% of whites. Approve, 96% of blacks. Disapprove, 0. Some didn't answer. 4% didn't answer. 0 disapprove.
Do you remember on the lead up of the Gulf War, I read the stats of Saddam Hussein and I believe he had a 94% approval rating, may have been 96% approval rating and I said, that is not possible. That's just not possible. To me it showed the brainwashing and the threat of the state. How can you have 96% approval rating of Barack Obama, a 0% disapproval rating of Barack Obama with African Americans? No one? There's not according to CBS news, the latest poll, not a single African American disapproves of Barack Obama. Now, is that possible or is there a culture backlash where you've been trained not to say anything? Or is this true? I'd like to find an African American that disapproves. You don't exist. You are driving in your car right now; you don't exist. If you disagree with Barack Obama or disapprove of him, well, then you should reevaluate your very existence. Is it possible to have people in today's world have a 96 to 0% ratio on the issues of our day?
STU: According to CBS, there are no dissenters.
GLENN: There are no dissenters.
STU: Among African Americans, zero.
GLENN: According to global warming, there are no dissenters.
STU: Maybe Barack Obama, who knows. I'd love to hear from because I believe I've talked to African Americans who would dissent on that. I believe they exist.
GLENN: I know they exist. I have two of them on my set. Sorry.
STU: Don't disagree with CBS.
GLENN: All right. Sorry.
