Glenn Beck: Freedom of Speech Is Under Attack

Watch Glenn Beck weekdays at 5p & 2a ET on the Fox News Channel

America, I have to tell you, that your freedom of speech is under attack.

Our most precious right — the one that leads directly to freedom of religion and our freedom of the press, the supposed watchdogs of our Republic — is being brutally and viciously assaulted.

Here's what happened today:

Jake Tapper asked Robert Gibbs about the White House's war on Fox News. Gibbs responded: "We render opinion based on some of their coverage and the fairness of that coverage."

Tapper then says: "That's a pretty sweeping declaration that they're not a news organization. How are they different from, say another, say ABC, MSNBC, Univision?"

Gibbs then says: "You and I should watch sometime around 9 o'clock tonight or five this afternoon."

We've chronicled the White House onslaught against Fox News, which intensified over the weekend with the presidents' two main men, David Axelrod and Rahm Emanuel, using virtually the exact same words to smear Fox on their various Sunday talk show offensives.

Where is the rest of the so-called Fourth Estate? Are they crying foul? Are they challenging the pathetic nature of these attacks? Has a single one of these "watchdogs" dared to hint to the attackers that this channel consistently — during its news broadcasts, presents both sides; that the Pew Research Center found that Fox's coverage of the 2008 election campaign was the most balanced of any network; that then-presidential candidate Secretary of State Hillary Clinton even said Fox News treated her more fairly then the others:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

HILLARY CLINTON: There were a lot of times that I appreciated the commentators and reporters on Fox.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

Has anyone pointed out that if it's opinion or perspective the White House is concerned about, then they may want to look into the embarrassing, "thrill up their leg" bias of MSNBC — the network owned by GE. Wait, whose CEO is on Barack Obama's economic advisory panel?

This isn't about Fox News. Sadly, the other news organizations know that and are silent anyway. They've either become such cowards that they're willing to play along to get along or they're enjoying their new role as lapdogs for the administration, rather than watchdogs for the Republic.

So, what is this about? It's about a multi-pronged war on freedom of speech, waged by progressives, on *every front.

Take a look at what is happening in our educational system. While you're working to put food on your table, your kids are being indoctrinated at school:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

Mmm-mmm-mmm.

Barack Hussein Obama,

He said red, yellow, black or white,

All are equal in his sight.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

All are equal in his sight? These are things we used to have our children say or sing about Jesus. Now we can't even sing about Jesus at Christmas, but your kids are learning that it's Obama deciding equality.

As early as elementary school, our kids are taught that capitalism is wrong — even evil:

(BEGIN 'STORY OF STUFF' VIDEO CLIP)

NARRATOR: Then, along came the corporation. Now the reason the corporation looks bigger than the government, is that the corporation is bigger than the government! Of the 100 largest economies on Earth now, 51 are corporations. And, as the corporation has grown in size and power, we've seen a little change in the government where they're a little more concerned that things are working out for those guys than for us.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

Yet, heaven forbid, while they're spooning that into your kids' brains, they fail to tell them about all the new legislation that's been bought and paid for by unions, global corporations and special interests. Maybe they don't tell them these things because they're too busy teaching your children about cross-dressing — as seen on Bill O'Reilly's show.

On our college campuses in 2005, the last time a study of this kind was done, 72 percent of professors identified themselves as liberal; 15 percent conservative. Seventy-two to fifteen! And if anything, my guess is, it's worse now. In our elite universities, 87 percent of professors said they were liberal; 13 percent conservative.

Let me paraphrase the White House minions David Axelrod, Rahm Emanuel and Robert Gibbs: That doesn't seem right. All I'm saying is that it's about "perspective." What kind of fair perspective are we getting from universities?

In the world of art, the White House has enlisted the aid of the top artists in the country to push their agenda with taxpayer dollars:

(BEGIN AUDIO TAPE)

MICHAEL SKOLNIC, RUSSELL SIMMONS POLITICAL DIRECTOR: The president has a clear arts agenda and has been very supportive of using art and supporting art in creative ways to talk about some of the issues that we face here in this country.

Continue to get involved in those things, to support some of the president's initiatives, but also to do things that we are passionate about and to push the president and to push his administration.

(END AUDIO TAPE)

State-sponsored propaganda. A couple of years ago, when it was discovered that the Pentagon was using propaganda to try to win the hearts and minds of the people of Iraq and Afghanistan, the left was outraged that the evil George Bush would dare engage in a propaganda campaign. Yet they are silent as this president uses propaganda against his own people.

I went to a Broadway play this weekend with my wife: "Memphis" — it was fantastic. Except for the two songs in it about "Hope and Change." Are Rahm Emanuel and David Axelrod calling up Broadway producers now, asking them to help out with the agenda, the way Yosi Sargent did at the direction of Valerie Jarrett and Buffy Wicks?

It sure wouldn't be unprecedented. Look at what the White House has accomplished with "Service Week," all this week on TV as Michelle Obama announced. Sixty programs are incorporating some kind of service or volunteer theme into their shows.

Now, some will say that it's just easier for the media to do what the president asks them to do; that whenever there is a request like this, the networks comply because they don't want hassles with their licenses being renewed or whatever other government interference could result from non-compliance.

But is it really about service, or is it about a never-ending campaign?

White House Office of Public Engagement Deputy Director Buffy Wicks says: "Part of my role [at the White House] is working on service, and so when we were thinking about how do we take a lot of this energy that's out there, how do we translate folks who have just been engaged in electoral politics and engage them in really the process of governing, of being part of this administration in a little bit of a different way because politics is one thing and governing is something totally separate, we really saw service as the platform by which we can do that."

Notice, she didn't say it's about serving the country — she said it's about helping the administration. In other words: "Ask not what this country can do for you; ask what you can do for this administration."

Oh, I know what you can do! You can help them sign away U.S. sovereignty, under the new global warming treaty. And the way to help Barack Obama do that is to participate in Green Week.

Green Week is something really special for broadcast television — especially over at, wait for it, GE-owned NBC. NBC has all of their prime time lineup participate in fascinating "green" storylines when the now-annual event comes around. And who could forget the "very special" green event back in 2007, when NBC did their NFL halftime show, by candlelight:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIPS)

BOB COSTAS: As part of NBC Universal's "Green is Universal" initiative, we have turned out the lights in the studio to kick off a week that will include more than 150 hours of programming designed to raise awareness on environmental issues.

Matt is actually live somewhere in the Arctic Circle. Hello Matt!

(END VIDEO CLIPS)

Just think of all the electricity they saved! I'm sure it made up for flying their reporters all over the world in jets, to some of the most remote locations on Earth with cameras and crew to cover horrifying scenes of global warming in the frigid cold of the Arctic, among other exotic locales, I'm sure the electricity saved, using candles in the studio at halftime, offset all of that.

That's akin to the story that came out yesterday on Arnold Schwarzenegger who, of course, is all about global warming and who used to fly his Gulfstream jet to get to work in Sacramento and just signed an environmental exemption bill, to clear the way for a new NFL football stadium in Los Angeles. So, obviously, Governor Schwarzenegger really believes in the planet, the environment, protecting the Earth from the ravages of climate change — unless, he needs to get to work really fast or L.A. is trying to woo a football team to town.

When will we say enough to all of this? On second thought, you'd better keep it to yourself, if you're around your kids, because they can see the effects of the "settled science" of global warming" for themselves, straight from Hollywood, on the big screen.

Any thinking human being knows this isn't about climate change; it's about redistribution of wealth. But that's OK, because Michael Moore is teaching us that capitalism is evil:

(BEGIN 'CAPITALISM' VIDEO CLIP)

MICHAEL MOORE: We're here to get the money back for the American people.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I understand sir, but you can't come in here.

MOORE: Can you just take the bag?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: No.

MOORE: Take it up there?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Absolutely not.

MOORE: I've got more bags. $10 billion probably won't fit in here.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

So, the progressive agenda permeates education, the arts, prime-time TV and movies. The same mindset is reflected in newspapers all across this country. Nearly all of those papers are failing miserably. So there's one area where the attacks will end, right?

Wrong.

President Obama says he'll help save the papers: "I haven't seen detailed proposals yet, but I'll be happy to look at them."

So we have education, arts, prime-time TV and the broadcast news, plus CNN and MSNBC, movies and newspapers — all promoting the progressive agenda.

Well, you might say, OK, at least there's still the Internet. So far, you'd be right. But this week, the so-called "net neutrality" issue comes up again in Congress. Here's yet another example of where your freedom of speech is being threatened in the name of "protecting" you from big, bad, evil, money-making corporations — in this case, Internet service providers.

You can still exercise your freedom of speech on talk radio. But again, you need to be protected from big bad, evil, money-making, non-diverse corporations. The fact that there are plenty of liberal talk stations that no one listens to, makes no difference to them. The fact that you have chosen to listen to a certain radio show and could choose to stop at any time is meaningless. They want you to be able to choose to end the life of an unborn child — but you can't choose to listen to "The Glenn Beck Program."

(BEGIN AUDIO CLIPS)

MARK LLOYD, FCC DIVERSITY 'CZAR': What we're really saying is that the Fairness Doctrine is not enough.

We are in a position where you have to, you have to say who is going to step down so someone else can have power?

(END AUDIO CLIPS)

So you can see the effort to silence Fox News isn't about Fox News. It's just the most visible target in the war on free speech.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIPS)

RAHM EMANUEL, WHITE HOUSE CHIEF OF STAFF: The way to look at it — the way we — the president looks at it and we look at it, is it's not a news organization so much as it has a perspective.

DAVID AXELROD, SENIOR OBAMA ADVISER: They're not really a news station, if you watch, even it's not just their commentators but a lot of their news programming. It's really not news, it's pushing a point of view.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

Isn't having differing points of view... diversity?

I'm confused. How could this administration — through the FCC — be pushing for diversity and, at the same time, be trying to silence all those with a differing opinion on radio, TV, the arts, movies and newspapers?

And what does that leave you with? Your right to assemble? Oh no, that too is at stake.

Don't you see this is a full frontal assault on every avenue of free speech? Stay with us this week, as we uncover the effort to take away your First Amendment rights. We'll show you the people involved and the underhanded ways their trying to pull it off.

When Bevan Cooney — the former "junior" business partner to Hunter Biden and Devon Archer — went to jail in 2019, investigative reporter and New York Times bestselling author Peter Schweizer thought he'd never gain access to the damning emails Cooney had promised. That all changed three weeks ago when Schweizer was given complete access to Cooney's gmail account.

Schweizer joined Glenn Beck on the radio program Tuesday to describe just some of the business deals revealed within these emails — like Hunter working with an alleged Russian criminal and with Chinese communists to secure their assets, or to secure one-on-one time with his dad, then-Vice President Joe Biden. And all of this new information is completely separate from the emails allegedly discovered on Hunter Biden's laptop recently reported by the New York Post.

"So, I want to make this clear. This [Cooney's emails] has nothing to do with what's on the laptop … It didn't come from [Rudy] Giuliani. It didn't come from anybody else, right?" Glenn asked Schweizer.

"That's absolutely correct," Schweizer confirmed.

He briefly explained how Cooney, a former Los Angeles nightclub owner, is currently serving a prison sentence for his involvement in a fraudulent business bond scheme with Biden and Archer. From prison, Cooney gave Schweizer written permission to access his Gmail account.

"This is really important," he noted. "We're not looking at printouts. Not looking at PDFs. We're actually in his Gmail accounts themselves, sifting through these emails. And there's a shocking amount of information about deals involving China, involving Russia, involving all sorts of things they were trying to pull off."

The king of "No Spin" and bestselling author of "Killing Crazy Horse," Bill O'Reilly joined Glenn Beck on this week's podcast to talk about the latest developments in Joe Biden's Ukraine and China corruption scandal. Now that some of the details are finally coming out in the open, does the average Democrat care? Maybe, but the Left doesn't seem to.

O'Reilly argued there's more hatred for President Donald Trump now than in 2016, and that some people hate President Trump so much that they'd rather vote for the "senile, corrupt" Joe Biden.

"Hunter got tens of millions of dollars from Ukraine, from Russia, from China because his father was vice president. I have no doubt in my mind," O'Reilly said. "But the hatred for Donald Trump overrides that in the minds of millions of viewers. They're saying, 'You know, we'd rather have the senile corrupt guy than Trump.'"

Asked by Glenn if any other Republican running for president would be met with the same level of vitriol, O'Reilly answered, "The Left is the Left. They don't like America. The want to redo the Constitution. They want to take some of our freedoms, like the Second Amendment and the First Amendment, and change them. And they want to destroy capitalism and replace it with a big centralized government in Washington that controls the economy … but I'm talking about the folks. I have liberal friends and I say to them, 'Do you not understand that when you vote for Biden, you're voting against your own self interest?'"

In a phone call with his constituents, Senator Ben Sasse (R-Neb) unleashed a torrent of criticisms about President Donald Trump, saying he "flirted with white supremacists," "kisses dictators' butts," and "spends like a drunken sailor."

On the radio program Friday, Glenn said he was disappointed in Sen. Sasse for apparently forgetting all of President Trump's accomplishments. Because, in reality, Trump has accomplished a lot more than many presidents before him.

Then, for anyone who may have forgotten President Trump's achievements — or who simply hate the man so much they've ignored them — Glenn listed just some of the many things this president has achieved during his three and a half years in the White House.

Watch the video below to hear Glenn's message for all the Trump-haters who have forgotten Trump's accomplishments, or you can read Glenn's list HERE:

President Trump has given us great judges on the lower court, 3 judges far superior than Roberts and other bogus constitutionalists as SCOTUS and one just may turn out to be another Clarence Thomas. He kicked the ass of ISIS and came home.

He got us out of the disastrous Iran deal, killed their head of terror, boxed them in and is currently collapsing their economy while also brokering a Mid East peace deal that everyone said could never happen. He moved our embassy to Jerusalem despite the state department, something no president has done even though they all promised.

Yes, he met with the North Korean Dictator. I hated that, but I also hated the fact that no other president did anything and North Korea kept gaining power. He has gotten Europe to pay their share of NATO, brought the Arabs and the Jews together, while smashing the choke hold of the PLO, and stood up to the Chinese instead of selling them supercomputers (Clinton), accepting lead poison in dog food (Bush), or loving the CCP and taking millions in dirty money (Obama/Biden).

He also has defended religious liberty unlike any other president at least in the last 100 years, and is a true pro-life advocate that unlike most republicans backs it up with action instead of just talk.

President Trump has also opened doors that the GOP was too wussy to even try to open with Hispanics and Blacks. He again didn't pander. He instead cleared the dead wood and opened pathways up so they could get higher education, create jobs, and not get lost in the prison system.

He also has defended religious liberty... and is a true pro-life advocate.

President Trump also took on an economy that had been beaten down, a people who had been told "you didn't build that" and, in fact, Obama and Biden claimed that the economy was "as good as it would ever get," that we would never create jobs in sectors ever again.

President Trump gave us the lowest unemployment rate since 1969 (the year I celebrated my 5th birthday,) the lowest unemployment for Hispanics & Blacks ever, and the first real growth in pay that I can remember.

President Trump then responded to the largest pandemic in 100 years by doing a couple of things I have never seen a president do:

  1. America's biggest capitalist shuts down the entire economy and knowingly puts his re-election at risk in order to save people.
  2. Closes travel with China and Europe, only to be called “racist," "xenophobic" and accused of stirring hatred. Now everyone says they were for it, but he stood alone and took the heat.

When everyone bashed him because they thought he would seize control and become an authoritarian by telling states what to do, or taking control of companies and telling them what to produce, he simply asked the free market to step to the plate, because he trusts the people of this country to do the right thing. By not taking control, he was called a dictator and a Nazi. Meanwhile he has been blamed for the blood bath created by Gov. Cuomo's nursing home policies. They said 2 million would die, best case scenario 200,000 — if we did everything right. Gee, seems that we are now in the time period they told us would be phase two, it seems as though we seem to have hit that "best case scenario" at this point.

While all of this has gone on, President Trump has fought the lies that were started by Hillary Clinton's team to smear him as a Russian operative. It was enabled by the Obama White House and included the DOJ, CIA, Dept of State, FBI, and DNI. Did I leave anyone out? Oh, yeah we are now getting evidence that members of the Pentagon may have been involved as well. Not to mention the so-called "press" and Congress who did things that would embarrass not only "Frank Underwood" but also Kevin Spacey. He has single handedly exposed the press for who they are and have always been. Because of his tweets, personal style and frankly balls of steel, he has exposed those who truly are: "Enemies of the people." I hated that when he first said it, but it is true. Any person or group that knowingly lies to destroy our president, our Constitution and the free market, are not just enemies of the people, they are enemies of the freedom of all mankind.

As someone who didn't support President Trump at first (and that is putting it mildly) I remain honest enough to judge him on his entire record. He is perhaps the only man in America that can and has stood entirely alone, surrounded by enemies, surrounded by those who took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution, who are now actively engaged in destroying it and any elected president who stands in their way.

Personally, I have grown sick and tired of spineless, do nothing, old, corrupt GOP politicians who are either part of the problem or too frightened to stand alone and speak up. The vast majority are all "Sunshine Patriots." History will condemn those who did nothing but complain and whine, while others not only rang the bell, but stood and took the hits, who risked it all and lost money, reputation and perhaps, God forbid, some who gave the ultimate sacrifice to fight the evil that rages so clearly against the light.

100 years from now history will judge all of us. So will our children's children. Most will be forgotten. Those who failed to show up on the battlefield or cower in the trees, will be remembered with shame and disdain. Others like President Trump, I believe will be seen as indispensable.
