GLENN: Nancy Pelosi has released a statement, the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced that hundreds of thousands of people have abandoned their job searches and that over four million people now have lost their private sector job since this president took office. Nancy Pelosi has issued this stunning statement. The fact is that this president's misguided economic policies have failed to create jobs. Job losses are a real toll on the financial security of American families. Democrats are fighting for opportunity, jobs, economic security for working families. And here comes the same old attack: Republicans continue to focus on helping those who need the help least. According to the survey while the national unemployment rate dropped slightly, it still stands at a near record high. In addition, the unemployment rate for African Americans is still over 11%. Unemployment for Hispanics was 8.2. It is time for this president, President Bush and the Republicans to get to work for all Americans, not just the elite few.
I guess I should have said she put this out in August of 2003. I left out one paragraph: The fact that President Bush misguided economic policies have failed to create jobs since the president took office, the country has lost nearly 3.2 million jobs, the worst record since President Hoover.
I just want to point out that if you listened back to the president's speech for the state of the union, he says, "In the last two years we have hemorrhaged and lost seven million jobs." It's true. In the last year of George W. Bush, the country lost three million jobs.
PAT: Seven plus three million is... four million jobs?
GLENN: Four million jobs? Isn't that weird. Thank you, Pat. Four million jobs. Now, isn't it interesting that Hoover, the word on Hoover was he caused the Great Depression. Now, the reason why we feel that is because with progressives and by the way, Hoover was a progressive. He was a Republican... progressive. He didn't do enough. He only started to spend but not crazy reckless spending. And so FDR came in and said Hoover destroyed this economy and we've got to change our course dramatically and spend even more. I'm only having to do this because Herbert Hoover didn't do his job.
I mean, if all you have to do, you want to see the future, just read a history book. That's all you need to do. Read Wilson, read FDR. That's it. You'll know. But we've got something really, really special for the progressives starting next week. Oh, I can't wait. We're going to take them at their word. We've done the math. We'll take them at their word and we'll you're right. George Bush is responsible. And we'll play that game next week. You don't want to miss it. Our calculators are solar powered because we're trying to, you know, save the planet. So it takes us a little while. We can't use them at night.
Let's see. We also have President Obama yesterday talking about the people. I think he's talking about the people who are zipping bodies into bags well, you listen.
PRESIDENT OBAMA: Servicemen and women bringing food and water and aid to the injured. One such translator was American of Haitian descent, representative of the extraordinary work that our men and women in uniform do all around the world. Navy corpseman Christian Bouchard.
GLENN: I think, I know about Navy corpsmen, but I believe Navy corpsemen.
PAT: Do they pick up corpses?
GLENN: I think they may be the ones that are zipping I don't know. Because see, I didn't go to Columbia and I didn't go to Harvard and I'm not
PAT: You're not a genius president.
GLENN: the most brilliant president that may have ever served in the Oval Office. So I don't know. I'm just assuming that there must be some sort of Navy corpseman.
PAT: That just picks up corpses.
GLENN: That's all he does. That's all he does is just come over and he picks and I appreciate the fact that we have such an amazing Navy.
PAT: Is it just the Navy or are there Army corpsemen as well?
GLENN: I know it's like the Army Corps of Engineer. Now, if it's the Army Corpse of Engineers.
PAT: Why would you do engineering on corpses? I don't
GLENN: I don't know.
PAT: I'm not sure I understand.
GLENN: Is it doing engineering on corpses or is it an Army of corpses doing engineering? I don't know.
PAT: I didn't know.
GLENN: I didn't go to Columbia, I didn't go to Harvard.
PAT: See, before Barack Obama came, I thought there were 50 states.
GLENN: I know. That's another one.
PAT: I thought there were 50 states.
GLENN: See, we're so stupid. I wish we went to an Ivy League school.
PAT: So stupid.
PRESIDENT OBAMA: I've now been in 57 states, I think one left to go, one left to go, Alaska and Hawaii I was not allowed to go to.
PAT: So 60, 60 states?
GLENN: 60 states.
PAT: I also didn't know my son has asthma, my oldest.
GLENN: You don't know how to fix that?
PAT: Didn't know how to fix that.
PRESIDENT OBAMA: Everybody knows that it makes no sense that you send a kid to the emergency room for a treatable illness like asthma.
PAT: Doesn't make sense.
PRESIDENT OBAMA: They end up taking up a hospital bed.
PAT: Oh, yeah, I hate it.
PRESIDENT OBAMA: Because when they just get you gave them treatment early and they got some treatment.
GLENN: Like what?
PRESIDENT OBAMA: And a breathalyzer.
GLENN: A breathalyzer.
PAT: So I should have been giving him like a test for alcohol. I didn't know he had been drinking.
GLENN: Is that the problem?
PAT: Apparently that brings on asthma.
GLENN: You know what? You must watch what your kids are doing.
PAT: I know.
GLENN: Because they are drinking sometimes. You need to go, have you been drinking? No, Dad, I just can't breathe. Here, I want a breathalyzer.
PAT: Breathalyzer test, see what your blood alcohol level is.
PRESIDENT OBAMA: Or inhalator.
PAT: An inhalator, I don't even know what an inhalator is.
GLENN: Isn't that where they take a pencil and jab it through your throat?
PAT: No, that is a
GLENN: Tracheotomy.
PAT: Tracheotomy.
GLENN: Well, let's inhalate this person right away. So they may be doing those in those secret states that were hiding from the stupid people.
PAT: They might.
GLENN: You know what I mean?
PAT: Yes, we've learned so much from President Obama. We've learned how to spell.
PRESIDENT OBAMA: You can call my hotline which is 1 888 NC early, E A R E...
GLENN: L Y... L M N O P.
PAT: M O U S E.
GLENN: So
PAT: So I don't know.
GLENN: It's a good thing that we got rid of that bumbling idiot. You know what I mean, George W. Bush?
PAT: He was so stupid.
GLENN: It's almost like he wasn't an idiot.
PAT: Right.
GLENN: It's just that everybody makes these mistakes. You know, we could say, they could say that you're reading the TelePrompTer, you are not even thinking, you are not even engaged and you are just saying corpsman and he those that it's corpsman, Army corpsman but he wasn't even engaged in it and it was just a stupid mistake. You could say that.
PAT: You could.
GLENN: You could say that he was thinking it's 47 states, he just said 57 but he meant 47. He knows that there's, you know, 50 states.
PAT: Right.
GLENN: He knows that you don't give a kid a breathalyzer or inhalate them. He knows that. He knows how to spell "Early." But let's not jump to those conclusions because if you say give him the benefit of the doubt that that happens to everybody, you always do or say something stupid. Well, then what happens to George W. Bush?
PAT: True.
GLENN: You see what I mean?
PAT: Yeah.
GLENN: So to be consistent.
PAT: You've got to take him at his word.
GLENN: I think we just have a dummy on our hands.
