GLENN: White House advisors promise a quicker, more aggressive response to GOP attacks on the president and his policies. Well, looks like I better start wearing a vest. They noted that the White House advisors have pushed back hard against Republican accusations that the FBI mishandled interrogation of the man accused of trying to bomb an airliner on Christmas Day as Biden did on Sunday. Oh, good. So they are going to unleash Biden. I'm sorry. I'm trying to act afraid of Joe Biden. (Clearing throat). That terrifies me. I don't know, but I I don't know about you, but he's such a, he's such a credible attack dog. He really, he's frightening.
PAT: It's the hair plugs, I think.
GLENN: Is that what it is?
PAT: Yeah.
GLENN: Hair plugs for men?
PAT: They're scary.
GLENN: Yeah. Let's see. What is the the third change is a return to the backdrops for Obama and aides considered so effective during the presidential bid.
You've got to be kidding me! You've got to be kidding me! Their third plan is a backdrop. The image of Obama standing in the diplomatic room surrounded by men in dark suits will be replaced with a more relaxed president in crowds. Oh, my gosh! Oh, my gosh! Can we go find the radio or television show where I was hammered by who? The New York Times for saying I'm tired of these politicians using people as a backdrop? Do you remember that show? And I got hammered. How dare he says you should... (mumbling). This is their third step! Scenes of a more relaxed president, the crowd around him. That's their third communications strategy. And finally aides said it was recognized inside "The West Wing" that Obama had strayed from his most successful message of the campaign: That he was going to be an agent of change. Yes. Sounds like a winning strategy. Hmmm, I'm this close to turning now on healthcare. I'm this close to thinking wait a minute, hang on, he's got a backdrop of people behind him. He says he's an outsider. He's for change. If they could just club anyone who dislikes him over the head with a baseball bat, I'd be in! There is a fundamental misunderstanding of what this country is. There is a fundamental understanding. This guy's been knocking on doors for ACORN too long. I don't know who he thinks the American people are but we're not this.
I had dinner last night with one of the richest men in the world who shall remain nameless. It was one of the most depressing dinners I've ever had. I wish I could, I wish I could share it with you. Come on, who wants to get onto the misery boat? Come on, everybody! It was one of the most depressing dinners I've ever had. This isn't a guy that this is not a political guy and I don't I think, I didn't ask him but I think he wouldn't have been voting for anybody that I voted for in the last 20 years. He's just beginning to really wake up. He doesn't really even watch the show. He barely knew who I was. I spent I, like, got there at 7:00. When I looked at my watch, it was 10:30 and we were still sitting around the table and having a discussion. He said to me, it's over, I mean, it's just over. He said, I don't care. This is a Rockefeller, if you will, the Rockefeller of our day. I said my kids are going to be taken care of. I got my money. They are taxing the rich. They are not taxing me. He said, you know, the businesses that I've created, they're going to suffer, the people are going to suffer. He said, but I don't see an out here. Nobody will tell the hard truth. Nobody will say to the American people what's coming and what has to happen. And what has to happen is tax cuts and spending cuts. Even Reagan, as he pointed out, didn't do that. They don't talk to you about that. They won't talk to you about spending cuts. He said we have massive issues. He thinks maybe we have a year. My deep throat says same thing. My gut tells me same thing. We must, must, must prepare ourselves and immerse ourselves in things that are real. I asked him, I said, so, you know, how do you preserve any kind of wealth? He said, I don't know. I've been trying to figure that one out. I said, well, what does the average person do? I don't know. I'm trying to figure that one out. I said, well, my suggestion has been that people should, like June in 1935. He looked at me across the table and said, I think you're right. Education and putting yourself in a position to where you are not dependent on anyone. The world's about to change, gang, world's about to change and it could go one of two ways. We have to unite and be a positive force.
