GLENN: I want to play now the audio that happened on Monday and I want you to see if you recognize the voice, or maybe I should tell you in advance so you don't get distracted by that and you listen to what this man is saying. Listen to the voice of Brian Williams from GE owned NBC and see if he sounds — these words sound familiar at all. Here he is.
WILLIAMS: What happened this afternoon. And this is not hyperbolic but I felt a sickness in the pit of my stomach, kind of 9/11 sickness in the pit of my stomach. I watched over 15 minutes our stock market fell exactly 1,000 points this afternoon. A deep, straight dive at times in increments of 50 points. I watched it go 700, 750 down, 800, 850, 900, 950, a free fall. Nothing to stop it, but it did. Proctor & Gamble lost half of its value from this morning in four minutes this afternoon. Our stock market went into a deep decline, a bottomless dive. There is some speculation as we sit here that it was computer triggers, that it was a glitch. But I'm telling you on every television set at the NYSE this afternoon was the live picture of police beating demonstrators in Greece. One fire on a sidewalk turned out to be three people on fire. The parliament had passed this measure to do some emergency spending. Here's the daisy chain: Greece to Portugal to Italy. Germany is kind of Europe's bank. Germany, a lot of this stops at Germany, but we're going to be in some trouble here for a while. The danger is it hurts the U.S. economy. As someone said on television this afternoon as part of the cable coverage, the dirty little secret is the world has no money and the emperor has no clothes. If I wasn't a tad too close to this, I'd probably not leave the house. But that's how bad it is.
PAT: I mean, does he sound like anybody else we might have heard recently?
STU: Did you get another job, Glenn, or —
PAT: That is you.
GLENN: I have been indoctrinating him slowly but surely. I go outside of his window at his house. I know where he lives.
PAT: Your hate speeches spread to him, your fear mongering.
GLENN: What's happening in Europe is going to happen here.
PAT: The emperor has no clothes.
GLENN: And the world has no money, and we are — we are bailing —
PAT: And I'm wearing no pants but that's a whole other story.
GLENN: We're bailing a country out who has no money, from money, from countries that have no money. Hold it just a second. How's that work? I mean, if that doesn't wake you up again, and it sounds strange but he sounds like he's just waking up to this.
PAT: Well, he does. He does.
GLENN: You know, he sounds — and that's what's going to happen. When this thing starts to collapse, and this is why I have said, I begged you, please, read The 5,000 Year Leap. Read The Real George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin. Half of those books is encyclopedic. So it's their words. Taxes, look it up, all their words in taxes. Small government, look it up, all their words in small government. It's the best — that set, those four books, the best you can — the best money you can spend to be able to have a basic understanding for you and your children. It is easy to use, easy to understand. 5,000 Year Leap, the Real George Washington, the Real Thomas Jefferson, the Real Ben Franklin. Get those four books. And know them. Know them. Because people are going — it's going to go into panic.
Did you hear David Letterman. Whoa. What?
STU: Is that who that was? I was wondering who that was speaking.
GLENN: That was Letterman.
GLENN: Ooh, whoa, wait a minute.
PAT: I blame the tea parties.
GLENN: Right. And you hear the people in the audience: Whoa, what? I've... not been paying any attention. You have been. And because you have been, you have — and I'm sorry to say this. George Washington's words come to me all the time and I think they've probably come to you and they're going to if they haven't. In time they will: If I not yet done enough for my country? You are going to be tired. But because you know, you now have a responsibility. You are going to have to be the one that brings the dummies along. You are going to be the one. You are going to be on the Frontline. Read about George Whitefield. Tomatoes, rotten eggs, beatings. He took it all. He took it all. Because he was saying things that the establishment didn't want him to say. He was telling the truth. You are going to be in that same position. And it's coming, and you have to be peaceful, God fearing, expect miracles to happen, know that that's not going to make your life easy. But you have a responsibility.
Two years ago I don't think I told you this at the time. I told you later, maybe a year later but it kept me up for a very long time, very long time. I kept thinking — this is probably three years ago. I kept thinking, I've got to be wrong, I've got to be wrong, I've got to be wrong. I can't say these things. And I knew if I say these things, this is the time when our ratings were, you know, going to spiral out of control and everything else. You know, it's been longer because this is during Bush. And I knew what it would bring, and I can — I was hoping I was wrong and I didn't want to say them and I got up in the middle of the night and I read Ezekiel and it's the watchmen on the tower. And in those days I will appoint watchmen, not a watchman. Watchmen to the gates in the tower and they will have a vantage point and they will be able to see things. And if those watchmen choose not to alert the others, the blood of all of those that could have been saved, if they would have raised their voice, the blood of all of those that could have been saved will be on their hands. Lucky you if you don't believe in God, lucky you. I feel bad for you in some ways because God is a great blessing. I wouldn't be standing — I wouldn't be alive today if it wasn't for him. But he also is, believing in him is also sometimes a curse. Because I happen to believe in God and I happen to believe that these things are coming and I happen to believe I'm at a vantage point and now you are, too. Because you see them now, too. And the blood of all those that could have been saved, if he would have just warned them, will be on your hands. Eternal ramifications of what we're doing today. You must prepare to be a guiding voice, a voice of peace and a voice of shelter for others because they are going to be looking for answers. And boy, are there going to be those who want to give them answers. You give them the correct ones.
