Stu and the Giant Taco...
GLENN: Let me play the Michelle Obama, the clip of what she said a couple of days ago about the things that are in the healthcare package that she's very excited about. This is Nancy Pelosi now, "Hey, you've got to pass it to find out what's in it." Here's what's in it according to Michelle Obama.
MICHELLE OBAMA: We're setting a goal that all primary care physicians should be assessing BMI at all well child and adolescent visits by the year 2012. And we're also working to increase the portion of healthy food and beverages that are advertised and targeted to our children so that within three years the majority of food and beverage ads aimed at kids will promote healthy choices. We're also setting benchmarks for our schools as well.
PAT: Did you catch? I mean, we didn't get to this yesterday when we played it. This to me is staggering. They've set benchmarks on what advertisers can advertise on television, on radio.
GLENN: What happens to McDonald's?
PAT: Exactly, McDonald's, Wendy's Burger King, Coke, Snickers, M&Ms, all of that stuff, they don't get to advertise to people anymore?
GLENN: No, no, but that won hurt or collapse the media. Because, no, the apple growers, they are going to — seriously.
PAT: Oh, they are going to step up to the plate.
GLENN: Oh, the grape people are going to be —
PAT: Oh, you can imagine. What about the bean curd industry? They are going to step up and spend millions advertising their, you know, deliciousness.
GLENN: You know, can you imagine this? Imagine this: Your mainstream network television and you are about to lose Coca Cola, Sprite, Mountain Dew, Burger King, Wendy's, McDonald's. Who else? Hershey's.
GLENN: Chili's, all of those.
PAT: All candy bars, anybody who sells anything that's not entirely healthy is going to be regulated. And it sounds like — in fact —
GLENN: Who's left? Beer? Beer is going to go.
PAT: It will have to. It will have to.
GLENN: I mean, what's left? What is left? These people are cannibalizing us. Cannibalizing us. Okay, on that happy note, what —
PAT: They are sending out the message right now that, okay, you've got three years to do this voluntarily. And then if you don't, if you are still advertising to unhealthy — what we consider to be, what we consider to be unhealthy products at the wrong times of day, we're going to have to then shut it down completely.
GLENN: Can I tell you something? The most popular phrase in two years, maybe three years — bad at projecting times and stuff, but I think it's going to be, "When did all this happen? When did that happen?"
GLENN: "When did they say that?" Now, now is when they're doing it. Now is when they're doing it and people aren't paying attention. They are not seeing — remember I told you a year ago that they are building a machine. They are building a machine. All they need are all the pieces and they will turn them on. I told you, you cannot let the healthcare plan pass because it's got so many pieces of a machine you don't know what it is yet. Well, you do and now you're seeing. Do you know that they've just appointed a guy for, what is it, Medicare and Medicaid? We were talking about that in the meeting this morning. We'll expose him tonight at 5:00. There's this new guy from Medicare or Medicaid. I can't remember. And it's a horror show! It's a horror show what they have coming. It all fits into the complete lives program: Well, we've all been 20 sometime, you know. Okay, grandma, night night. It all fits into the redistribution of wealth. As Kagan, our new Supreme Court pick is calling it the redistribution of speech, the redistribution of speech. It all fits into the Net neutrality. It's Venezuela!
