Glenn Beck: Obama's oil spill solution - stop drilling

GLENN: The grieving families of the oil workers that died in the explosion are all going to testify now on Capitol Hill and that's good. I hope you can drive a stake through the heart of —

PAT: All drilling.

GLENN: All drilling.

PAT: I say don't drill offshore, don't drill onshore, don't drill. Don't drill at all because drilling could lead to something bad happening and —

GLENN: Well, we know that it already has. Global warming.

PAT: Thank you.

GLENN: We know that it already has. It's already hurt the migration of... an animal or — it's caused problems up in Alaska, the pipeline.

PAT: It has. You know what, the moose up there because of the pipeline can't mate or something because the pipeline —

GLENN: Let's not get into it.

PAT: Ruins the mood.

GLENN: You don't need all the details. Look, there's so much information out there that it's confusing. So we don't want to put a lot of information out there that's confusing.

PAT: Let's say no more drilling.

GLENN: No more drilling.

PAT: And just leave it at that, no more drilling.

GLENN: And I think that's where the president is headed, no more drilling.

PAT: No more drilling. Here's what he said.

PRESIDENT OBAMA: We're going to be ordering the following actions.

PAT: Okay.

PRESIDENT OBAMA: First we will suspend the planned exploration of two locations off the coast of Alaska.

PAT: Don't even explore.

GLENN: Yeah. Not even going to explore. We're not going to drill, we're not even going to explore.

PAT: We're not even going to look for oil anymore.

GLENN: Right.

PRESIDENT OBAMA: We will cancel the pending sale of the Gulf of Mexico and the proposed lease sale off the coast of Virginia.

PAT: Good move.

PRESIDENT OBAMA: Third, we will continue the existing moratorium and suspend the issuance of new permits to drill new deep water wells for six months.

GLENN: Lord — hang on just a second. Am I the only one thinking right now, "Lord, take away this feeling in my heart."

PAT: Yes, yes.

GLENN: Lord, help me love.

PAT: Oh, I —

GLENN: Help me love.

PAT: — offer that prayer every day when I'm putting audio into this little machine. Just help me put this audio in the machine without searing hatred! Just please help me without searing white hot hatred! Please help me get it into the machine.

GLENN: Help me, Lord. Just help me.

PRESIDENT OBAMA: We will suspend action on 33 deep water exploratory wells currently being drilled in the Gulf of Mexico. Last Friday I also signed an executive order establishing the National Commission on the BP Deep Water Horizon Oil Spill and Offshore Drilling. While there are a number of ongoing investigations including an independent review by the National Academy of Engineering, the purpose of this commission is to consider both the root causes of the disaster and also actions on —

GLENN: Hang on just a second. Here's the root cause of it. Root cause is oil is under the ground.

PAT: Yeah.

GLENN: And then you are putting a pipe about a mile beneath the water.

PAT: Yeah.

GLENN: Into the ground.

PAT: Yeah. And we do it every day.

GLENN: And we're pumping it out.

PAT: But sometimes something went wrong.

GLENN: Sometimes things happen.

PAT: Yeah.

GLENN: And they go wrong. And when that happens, that's like, let's say there's a house fire and we have to suspend building all houses until we figure out what happened here. Sometimes houses catch fire. Sometimes bad guys bad guys set houses on fire. We don't stop building all houses.

PAT: It's not even like somebody set it on fire. It's more like, you know, like it's a natural gas house, you know. You get natural gas heat and something happened and your house blows up because of the natural gas. That's like banning all natural gas heated homes all over America.

GLENN: And let's just say this is not new technology. This is something we've been doing for a hundred years. I mean, we've been drilling for oil. Where do you think we got Rockefeller Center? Rockefeller. Standard Oil. We've been doing this for 100 years. This is not a new thing. This isn't like, well, now, wait a minute, hang on. Are you saying those fluorescent light bulbs, if I break them, I have to call the EPA to clean them up? You see, it's not a new thing like that.

PAT: But here's the good thing. They are not going to waste this great crisis.

PRESIDENT OBAMA: More than anything else, this economic and environmental tragedy — and it's a tragedy.

GLENN: It is.

PAT: It is.

PRESIDENT OBAMA: Underscores the urgent need for this nation to develop clean renewable sources of energy.

GLENN: Oh, thank goodness we can use it.

PAT: And?

PRESIDENT OBAMA: If nothing else, this disaster should serve as a wake up call.

PAT: To pass the bill.

PRESIDENT OBAMA: That it's time to move forward on this legislation.

PAT: Finally let's get to the climate change cap and trade bill.

GLENN: So wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute. His little organization of ShoreBank that no one will do an investigation on, ShoreBank and CCX which no one will do an investigation on and his connections to it all, if we can just get money funneled to those guys through the unions, somehow or another our country will be saved?

PAT: Uh, yeah.

GLENN: Okay, good.

PAT: I think so.

GLENN: Glad I understand it. Glad the world is starting to make sense.

Eric Weinstein, managing director of investment firm Thiel Capital and host of "The Portal" podcast, is not a conservative, but he says conservative and center-right-affiliated media are the only ones who will still allow oppositional voices.

On "The Glenn Beck Podcast" this week, Eric told Glenn that the center-left media, which "controls the official version of events for the country," once welcomed him, but that all changed about eight years ago when they started avoiding any kind of criticism by branding those who disagree with them as "alt-right, far-right, neo-Nazi, etc.," even if they are coming from the left side of the aisle. But their efforts to discredit critical opinions don't stop there. According to Eric, there is a strategy being employed to destroy our national culture and make sure Americans with opposing views do not come together.

"We're trifling with the disillusionment of our national culture. And our national culture is what animates the country. If we lose the culture, the documents will not save us," Eric said. "I have a very strongly strategic perspective, which is that you save things up for an emergency. Well, we're there now."

In the clip below, Eric explains why, after many requests over the last few years, he finally agreed to this podcast.

Glenn Beck: Why MLK's pledge of NONVIOLENCE is the key to saving America

Listen to the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s pledge of nonviolence and really let it sink in: "Remember always that the nonviolent movement seeks justice and reconciliation — not victory."

On the radio program, Glenn Beck shared King's "ten commandments" of nonviolence and the meaning behind the powerful words you may never have noticed before.

"People will say nonviolent resistance is a method of cowards. It is not. It takes more courage to stand there when people are threatening you," Glenn said. "You're not necessarily the one who is going to win. You may lose. But you are standing up with courage for the ideas that you espouse. And the minute you engage in the kind of activity that the other side is engaging in, you discredit the movement. You discredit everything we believe in."

Take MLK's words to heart, America. We must stand with courage, nonviolently, with love for all, and strive for peace and rule of law, not "winning."

Conservatives are between a rock and a hard place with Section 230 and Big Tech censorship. We don't want more government regulation, but have we moved beyond the ability of Section 230 reforms to rein in Big Tech's rising power?

Rachel Bovard, Conservative Partnership Institute's senior director of policy, joined the Glenn Beck radio program to give her thoughts and propose a possibly bipartisan alternative: enforcing our existing antitrust laws.

Dan Bongino, host of The Dan Bongino Show, is an investor in Parler — the social media platform that actually believes in free speech. Parler was attacked by Big Tech — namely Amazon, Apple, and Google — earlier this week, but Bongino says the company isn't giving up without a fight. In fact, he says, he's willing to go bankrupt over this one.

Dan joined Glenn Beck on the radio program to detail what he calls a "smear" campaign behind the scenes, and how he believes we can move forward from Big Tech's control.

"You have no idea how bad this was behind the scenes," Dan told Glenn. "I know you're probably thinking ... well, how much worse can the attack on Parler have gotten than three trillion-dollar companies — Amazon, Apple, and Google — all seemingly coordinated to remove your business from the face of the Earth? Well, behind the scenes, it's even worse. I mean, there are smear campaigns, pressure campaigns ... lawyers, bankers, everyone, to get this company ... wiped from the face of the earth. It's incredible."

Dan emphasized that he would not give up without a fight, because what's he's really fighting for is the right to free speech for all Americans, regardless of their political opinions, without fear of being banned, blacklisted, or losing jobs and businesses.

"I will go bankrupt. I will go absolutely destitute before I let this go," he said. "I have had some very scary moments in my life and they put horse blinders on me. I know what matters now. It's not money. It's not houses. It's none of that crap. It's this: the ability to exist in a free country, where you can express your ideas freely."
