Glenn Beck: Iconic America vs. Reality

I want you to imagine two different kinds of worlds.

First, imagine one where a man's word actually is his bond and if that bond is broken there is shame associated with it. Imagine making a business deal, one that has everything riding on it and the deal is finalized with a simple handshake. Imagine neighbors lining up to help when they learn that someone nearby is out of work and can't keep up with the bills, each making personal sacrifices of their own to allow the neighbor to remain in their home. Imagine when the nation or a town is in crisis and regular everyday citizens trust in one another, band together and figure out a solution themselves. And they could trust that the government wouldn't get in the way.

A world where independence, self-sufficiency, fiscal responsibility, honor, conservation and God are the values held most dear.

Now, imagine a world where people look out for themselves first. A world where when someone has fallen, the first instinct isn't to help but to wonder why no government agency prevented the fall and look to them for a fix. Imagine a world where there was no trust or love for either of the major political parties, because the politicians are always pointing fingers at you, calling you names and accumulating power at your expense — and lying to you. Imagine the media piling on, and it's clear to see the message came directly from Washington.

A world where self-interest, power, greed and entitlements are the values practiced most.

Throughout America's history there have been elements of both of these worlds, but it's not difficult to see that today we are more like the second world than the first.

There's no trust, and this isn't the first time it's happened. After Reconstruction, there was a new kind of bondage: They were slaves to the political party in power and trapped by lies, deceit and corruption. Half of America had hope in the '60s that we would change under Martin Luther King and we have. We'll never be perfect, but now we are going in the opposite direction. Why? Because content of character doesn't matter anymore.

You're considered a crazy fool if you forego a contract in lieu of a handshake or don't get that verbal promise down in writing. Now it's shame on you for not getting that signature, not shame on the guy who screwed you over.

And now even the written word isn't enough. President Obama said he would not federally fund abortions in the health care bill:

(BEGIN AUDIO CLIP)

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA: There are some folks out there who are, frankly, bearing false witness, but I want everyone to know what health insurance reform is all about... you've heard that this is all going to mean government-funding of abortion. Not true. This is all — these are all fabrications that have been put out there in order to discourage people from meeting what I consider to be a core ethical and moral obligation.

(END AUDIO CLIP)

This was the last sticking point keeping Democrats from ramming this bill through. Pro-life Democrats would not sign on to a bill that federally funded abortions. They were called the "Stupak 13" because they were led by Congressman Bart Stupak. He finally sold out when he accepted the president's word that he'd do an executive order to block federally funded abortions.

Well, here's the news today: "The Health and Human Services Department is giving Pennsylvania $160 million to set up a new high-risk insurance pool that will cover any abortion that is legal in the state."

And it's a similar story in New Mexico: "In New Mexico, the new $37 million high-risk pool began enrolling individuals on July 1. They will start receiving benefits in August, including elective-abortion services, according to the state insurance department's website. Once a deductible is paid, 80 percent of the elective abortion is covered."

Wasn't this was supposed to be about taking care of those who don't have health care? We want to help the poor, the sick, the under-privileged. Now, this is our priority? To make sure the abortion centers are set-up and funded?

Is the ink even dry on that executive order?

Last month, House Republican Leader John Boehner asked President Obama and HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius for an update on how implementation of Obama's executive order to prevent the federally funded abortions was going. He still hasn't received an answer.

Now we know why.

Imagine a time, where you could look the president in the eye and believe what he said.

Obama went on TV and lashed out at concerned citizens like you and said you were "bearing false witness." That language was intentional. Why? Because religious people are the ones concerned about abortion. He has the audacity to accuse others of breaking a commandment by breaking a commandment.

The only one telling the truth — sort of — is Nancy Pelosi, who said we had to pass the bill to find out what's in it:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE NANCY PELOSI, D-CALIF: But we have to pass the bill, so that you can find out what's in it.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

What does that even mean?

Imagine a time of common sense.

Well, we're obviously finding out what was in the 2,500-page bill that no one had time to read. The president said this bill wouldn't fund abortions. But it does — surprise!

And here's more news today: The Senate just passed the 2,300-page financial reform bill. Do we know everything in this bill? I can tell you that it doesn't inspire confidence when I hear the president thank the two crooks largely responsible for creating the first financial crisis, for helping draft the new bill that's supposed to fix everything: Chris Dodd and Barney Frank.

These guys helped collapse Fannie and Freddie and worked with community organizing groups like ACORN to give people loans who didn't qualify for them. Well, good news: Not only have we not fixed the problem or punished the people, we've allowed Chris and Barney to institutionalize that method in the bill, to collapse our economy.

Their bill includes 20 "offices of minority and women inclusion" throughout government agencies, which would make sure banks made a certain amount of loans to minorities. If that sounds familiar, it is. It's exactly what led to the first financial crisis: Loaning by anything other than merit.

In fact, the bill is loaded with measures that have nothing to do with the financial crisis, but instead cater to the agendas of labor unions and other Democratic interest groups. It creates an entire new consumer protection agency that would give employment opportunities and funding for Democrat and social activist community organizing groups like ACORN. A financial stability oversight council is established, that will have power to punish any company it deems to be "too big to fail," not just banks. They can also declare if a company is "non-bank financial firm" — the distinction is completely arbitrary and made by bureaucrats.

The president no longer has to go through pesky Congress for takeovers or bailouts. Congratulations Congress, you are another step closer to irrelevance!

The conditions in Afghanistan under the Taliban rule — for Americans, allies, Christians, women and more — continue to deteriorate, and the people there continue to plead that we will not forget them. On the radio program Monday, Glenn Beck gave an emotional update on current evacuation efforts, including the tragic story of one girl — an American passport holder — who was not rescued in time.

"I have a pit in my stomach like I haven't had in a while. What is happening in Afghanistan is both miraculous and horrendous," Glenn began. "What's going on right now one of the most amazing things I've ever personally witnessed — the evacuation of Americans, those [Afghans] who helped us, Christians that are dying, women that are under incredible conditions. I see things that I can't show you. I see the pleadings from people who are in safe houses, 'Please, don't forget us.' I see what they're being sent by the Taliban.

"If I die today, my entire life will have been worth it for what you have helped get done, in just the last three weeks. You have saved well over 5,000 people," he continued.

Fighting back tears, Glenn added, "I ask that you pray for those in the Middle East, that are in the midst of doing work, that a Moses-style miracle will happen. ... There are several people that are in dire need of medical care. Friday, we told you — along with the congressman from Oklahoma [Rep. Markwayne Mullin] who had just returned — [about] a father and two daughters that were blue passport Americans, and a mother who had a permanent residence, a Green Card. The daughter was very ill. And they thought, that if we couldn't get her out of there, that she would lose her legs. I got a call on Saturday morning, that we were too late, that she didn't lose her legs. She lost her life, waiting. There are now two Americans, instead of three."

Glenn showered his audience with gratitude, repeating that "well over 5000" lives have already been saved because of their incredible generosity, but lamented that there are still thousands more people yet to be saved.

Megyn Kelly pulled her sons out of the private elementary school they attended after she learned that the boys were asked "weekly" if they were still sure they were boys. But that's not all that this "experimental transgender education program" taught.

Megyn joined Glenn Beck on the radio program to tell the story, which she thought had ended when the school apologized, and to talk about what's next for America as our leaders refuse to promote actual psychological support for our kids and instead "parade" transgenderism as the solution to their problems.

"When [my son] was in third grade, I found out they unleashed a three-week experimental transgender education program on these boys, with really inappropriate videos. The kids were confused. These are 8- and 9-year-olds, Glenn. They have no idea what the school is even talking about with the trans thing. They got really in-depth, with really in-your-face videos — and then parents complained. And the school did something it hasn't done in its 400-year history, which was they apologized. Even they realized they had done wrong," Megyn explained.

"But, then I said to my son a year later, so did they ever round back to the trans thing? Like, whatever happened with it? And he said ... they bring it up every week. ... [They ask] how many people here still feel confident that they're a boy? Do you still feel sure you're a boy?" she continued. "This is not support. This is not nonbullying. This is indoctrination. And it's deeply confusing to the children, and wrong."

Megyn went on to give examples of how she's seen trans ideology turn "support, nonbullying, kindness, friendship, allyship, on its head."

"The absolute surrender of the medical community to this insanity is a scourge on this nation. It's disgusting what is happening with our doctors," she added. "There are people who are legitimately transgender, or who have gender dysphoria. And for those people, we should be supportive and they should get the care that they need. But what we've done instead, is taken everyone who expresses any kind of gender confusion and said, you're trans. You're trans. And we have our psychiatrists doing this."

"It's crazy," Megyn asserted. "The fact that we're doing this so willy-nilly in the name of allyship and support, it's abusive. It's criminal."

"Never forget" is not only a tribute to those we've lost, it's a warning that it could happen AGAIN. On "Glenn TV" Wednesday, Glenn Beck looks back 20 years ago to the modern generation's Pearl Harbor moment. A day of infamy we're STILL feeling repercussions from.

But in remembering 9/11, we need to look toward the future because the Biden administration is setting us up for the NEXT 9/11. They bungled the Afghanistan withdrawal, and now we have video of top al Qaeda commanders — who served with Osama bin Laden — returning to the country. But could America survive another terror attack?

Glenn asks former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani, the leader who brought America back from the brink. He tells Glenn about the moment he learned the Twin Towers were struck, the actions he took to prevent more terrorism, and if he thinks NYC could survive another attack under Mayor de Blasio's leadership.

Glenn is also joined by Rev. Johnnie Moore, author of "The Next Jihad." He warns that Biden's policies in the Middle East are Obama 2.0, and "if you thought ISIS was bad, you haven't seen anything yet. We must keep our eyes on Iran."
